  • I’ve been into snacky foods a lot lately. Cheese and crackers, pickled things, salami, etc. I’ve been eating like a toddler the last week lol
  • So glad there are so many beet lovers! @mtaratoot , the jar is refrigerator pickled beets! I love refrigerator pickles because it’s just 2 of us and a toddler, so I can make a jar of something and not have to worry about canning and storing a bumper crop. I do want to learn to properly can one day, though. These beets are…
  • (In MFP-ordained order) I found these JoJo’s chocolates on BOGO at the store yesterday and was very excited; we used to eat JoJo’s chocolate when we were doing keto and always really liked it. But yikes; I don’t know if their formula has changed or if my tastebuds are just different than when I did keto, but these had a…
  • Husband got home after a week away last night so I made my lasagna (which has been passed down by several generations of northeast Italian women) and garlic bread to welcome him home. While he was gone my toddler and I had a girl’s lunch out and I got a salmon BLT. It was delicious; my only gripe was the shape of the…
  • I bought some beets from the grocery store, then my best friend came to visit and I took her to our state farmer’s market. One stall was selling HUGE beets with lush, perfect greens for $1 each. I was very regretful of the sad batch I got at the store, lol. I cooked the beet greens in some bacon fat with a little…
  • @Safari_Gal_ Dude saaammmeee. Rhythm brand? They’re so crunchy and delicious. I can eat a bag in one go if I’m not careful!
  • Thanks @acpgee and @mtaratoot for the suggestions! I might get some roasting in there… It is quite delicious roasted. @AnnPT77 The smell of fresh basil is one of my favorite on earth. If it were a perfume, I’d wear it!
  • My husband has to go out of state for several days/a week and I’m going to use the chance to make and eat some of my beloved cauliflower! (Husband has a huge aversion to it from a stomach flu and can’t even stand the smell. He can’t even kiss me when I eat it, it’s that bad lol) Anyone wanting to share their favorite…
  • I’ve been making bread using the spent grains from my husband’s beer brewing. It’s soooooo good. I try to justify that’s it’s healthy since spent grains have a lot of trace minerals and slightly higher protien and fiber than normal :D
  • Got these from Aldi a zillion years ago. They were pretty good; pasta texture was nice and the filling was good, just under-salted to a point of being bland. I was glad I chose to toss them in a little salted butter. They WERE filling though; I had them about 3 and wasn’t really interested in dinner until 8:30! Don’t think…
  • @AnnPT77 I am SO sorry I never replied, but it looks like @acpgee @purplefizzy gave you some good ideas! I use Meyer lemons in any lemon application, which for me is… Almost anything lol. I love my citrus. Meyers are super juicy and have a slightly more ‘refined’ lemon flavor, I feel. Less just ‘sour’ and more dynamic. I…
  • Happy new year! This was Christmas Eve dinner; strip steak, roasted brussles and mashed potatoes. Christmas dinner was a truly amazing charcuterie board by yours truly, but like I dunce I only took video and not pictures!
  • Popcorn. Just plain unbuttered but with extra salt. I’ve been having a bag almost every night. It’s just so GOOD.
  • @Noreenmarie1234 I try to allow for different tastes, like “Oh I can see how someone would like this if they like X”, but that Snickers is so bad I can’t fathom anyone enjoying it. Literally just a weird fake cinnamon taste (not even fake like cinnamon candy, just… Fake) and combined with the nougat it was just… BLEHC.
  • Rhythm brand crunchy cauliflower is back at my Costco! I bought 2 bags. I was so sad when they stopped carrying it last year. I also got a big bag of Meyer lemons and have been adding them to pretty much every drink. They’re my favorite for hot lemonade, which is usually a ‘sick person’ drink in my house but I have been…
  • YESSSSS! A big bag of my absolute favorite, Meyer lemons, from Costco. I’m so excited :)
  • Our best-yet smoked turkey. I always get turkeys from my store for 0.29 cents a pound after Thanksgiving and we save and smoke them as desired. We nailed the spices and cooking time this time!
  • Thanks for the tip! I honestly don’t even know how to look for an unripe papaya… I have never deliberately sought unripe fruit lol Ohhhh that sounds like HEAVEN ON EARTH. And yes, the dressing was exceptional; I am a wuss so asked for super mild and got almost no spice; what remained was definitely a sweet, tangy…
  • Grabbed some Christmas candies today. The gingerbread Kit Kats are good. They’re mostly a treat for my daughter, but I still found them tasty. The salted caramel Twix is just a slightly saltier Twix. It’s good, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it again. I wish it had crunchy salt crystals in it or something like…
  • I have been very into custom personal gluten-free pizzas. Usually I concede to sharing a pizza with husband but he loves tomato sauce and I have ALWAYS disliked it on my pizza. We also prefer different toppings generally so it’s a lot of compromise for both of us. But I’ve been bougiee lately and just getting my own dang…
  • Got a couple beverage options! Got to try Zoa finally (energy drink by Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock), and it was ok. Kind of a weird fake-sugar flavor. The more I drank it the more ok it was. I might try one other flavor to see if it’s better but, as it stands, I wouldn’t buy them again unless they were on mega-clearance…
  • (In MFP ordained order) My sister came to visit and taught me how to make gyoza Thanksgiving dinner. My husband’s Irish father is the cause of there being 4 different potato dishes lol A chicken pot pie with phylo crust. Utterly delicious and looks SO fancy with very little effort! Homemade poke bowls. Super DUPER tasty…
  • Oh hi y’all! Been a minute. Love the new UI! I’ve been super busy with basically 2 vacations in a row but I did want to share a couple fantastic produce experiences recently; one was a date with husband to a Laotian restaurant and I had my first-ever shaved green papaya salad; it was INCREDIBLE. I added fish since it was…
  • Honestly, those look DELICIOUS :D
  • Not food exactly but beer… Hear me out! Husband has discovered a passion for home brewing and also tasting new beer styles. So we’ve been buying and trying different things, usually splitting a new beer every other day or so. Now you can put the pitchforks away :D
  • After a long season, frost was coming so it was time to say goodbye to my tomatoes. I used the green ones to cook, blend and make a ‘green ketchup’; it’s DELICIOUS. It doesn’t taste exactly the same as regular ketchup but it’s tangy and wonderful on almost everything. The orange tomatoes I used to make sauce for…
  • I made a tomato and cheese pie from a Bon Appetite recipe. It’s REALLY good; very, VERY rich and tastes like very refined pizza. The crumb crust was ok; husby and I felt like it didn’t really do anything for the filling, so next time I may try a different type of crust.
  • That’s exactly what I read the other day. Fuyu are good to eat even when a little crisp, but Hachiyas are a better choice for things like cooking or baking as they need to be mushy-ripe to be their best (I read they should be genuinely squishy, like a bag of goo). I was trying to help my mom find a recipe for persimmon…
  • This was pretty good! A glorified candy bar to be sure but it was tasty and didn’t have any weird aftertaste, sweetened with stevia and monkfruit. Even my toddler begged a couple bites and thought it was tasty.
  • I bought a couple acorn squashes and a spaghetti squash at the store on Friday; for some reason my toddler is now fascinated with the acorn squash and the idea of mama making squash soup, so I think I’ll make a small batch tomorrow for us (daddy won’t eat it; he hates winter squash for some psychotic reason)
