@SummerSkier thanks for your great list! I forgot that you were doing that and was worried I was going to have to go through and count everyone up this morning. So thankful that you already did it! It's definitely a team effort to keep this going while @Mrs_Hoffer is unavailable. But we can do it!

Another Pass Day! I had a birthday date with my friend - we have birthdays right around the same time and so we try to celebrate them together. It's been a tradition for a while now. We went for a lovely hike and then out to dinner and then out to dessert. I tried to focus on the fun rather than the food, and I preplanned…

Also, I posted this in introductions, but thought I would add it here too: I will be doing some of the regular admin posts this month, taking over temporarily from @Mrs_Hoffer who has to let real life take precedence for a little while. I would urge all of you to take a look at the Volunteer Schedule:…

Happy May everyone! Welcome back to all returning members, and welcome to all new members. Here is where we begin to celebrate last month's successes. I am filling some pretty important shoes here, so let me know if I get anything wrong, or miss anyone ... WOOHOO and HIGH FIVES to those that made it into our Winner's…

Hi, I'm Caroline. I first lost weight 20 years ago, post-college, when I learned a lot about nutrition with weight watchers and lost 25 pounds. I then kept it off for ~10 years, until I got pregnant. With my first pregnancy, with my now 10-year old, I was very sick the whole time and the only thing that kept me from puking…

Another pass day I am really struggling here. It was takeout Friday at my house, and the night before I had requested that we get it from a restaurant that did not tempt me and I would eat leftovers instead. But then that restaurant is not doing takeout on Fridays and weekends (welcome to "post-covid" life I guess). So we…

@Elbee1 thank you for sharing your struggles. In spite of all the wisdom I received, I am right there with you still! But this group is definitely the place for us to be.

Another pass day. Going for Champion this month. Not Winner’s circle.

Weds April 27 Exercise: 15 minutes MommaStrong and 40 minute walking - really good to get back to the MommaStrong Tracking: Planned the day and mostly followed the plan, but estimated on the 2 treats we had in the house - Matza bark and birthday cake. Did have only half the amount of birthday cake that I'd had the two days…

I like this a lot @lesdarts180 and makes me think about how I am arranging things. How I should really focus more on enjoying time with others and actives with others and just less on the food in general. Sounds like a very fun day at the theater and awesome to get in your steps!

That all is SO great @ashleycarole86 Especially the last been - remembering what you are doing this for, and that trumps the joy of overeating. That is what I really need to believe and focus on. Thanks.
-
I really like that as a mantra "focus on the occasion instead of the food." It is true that my body has not been feeling great this month with all the crap I am giving it.
-
Thanks for this @jamcnewman and thanks for the birthday wishes. I am still mostly not hosting the big gatherings and the ones we have at home are I think more moderate. But I should still think about what we are teaching our kids in terms of food = celebration = love - is that the link we want them to have? But on the…

@ideas2 there is so much good wisdom in what you wrote here that I feel like I need to save it and read it over before every social event! Much of my weight loss journey has been during covid where the events like this have really been limited, and that has helped quite a bit. But now that we are emerging somewhat and…

I try to prelog and preplan celebrations too when I can. If we're going out I will review the menu on the restaurant's site ahead of time and make a plan. But I think the fact that I am so dependent on that may make it harder when I can't do it - I think I need to learn better how to make decisions on the fly too. For…

@Jana_2020 thanks for just saying you're struggling with me. It helps to have company. And yes, having the treats around for the kids makes it harder. Though the specific treat I am struggling with right now, matzah bark or "Matzah crack" the kids aren't even eating! Only I am eating it. The only saving grace is that it's…

That is such an interesting way of thinking about things @snowshoe072 . "An ordinary day" - so that means that if it's your birthday or something like that you just say to yourself "It's just an ordinary day" and so don't use it as an excuse to eat a lot? How does this work in practice? Thanks.
-
@TerriRichardson112 So much wisdom there - indulging temporarily but then snapping out of it and getting back to healthy habits. Not indulging too much. Having a small treat every day so that you don't feel the need to go crazy. Listening to your body. I really try to do all those things, but they are all out balance right…

@donna25trinity I love this! Thank you for the encouragement and I think you are right!

Tues April 26 Exercise: 15 minutes MommaStrong (so good to get back to it!) Tracking: Planned the day, adjusted plan as needed Calories: Under, with estimation for leftover birthday cake that I am unsure about I'm going to count it as not a pass day, because I really need a win. It's been all pass days since Fri April 15.…

Happy Wednesday, Everyone! I know a lot of people struggle with emotional eating, but my biggest struggle is with celebration eating. Right now I have rolled right from Passover gatherings, through vacation, through coming home and making the favorite Passover treats we missed because we were on vacation, through my…

@LazyBlondeChef it’s “more” and then “messages”

Mon April 25 Exercise: 40 minutes walking, 40 minutes stretching (both in the morning and the afternoon) Tracking: Pre-planned the day but did not update the plan Calories: It was my birthday. And there was still matzah bark in the house which I kept eating. And then my family baked me a birthday cake and I went for the…

I've been part of this group since September 21 and a more supportive and inspiring group of people I could not imagine. It's not magic - this month I have been farther from achieving the 3 goals daily than I ever have been - but the group continues to support and inspire me and I know that with their help I will get back…

@Mrs_Hoffer You can also put me down for Mon May 9 if nobody else wants it. And I could do Monday cheerleading if nobody else signs up. Thanks so much for organizing this!

Another pass day. I did go for a hike and do stretching, but I had a little birthday date with myself and had too many treats that I did not track out in the world.
-
Another pass day. We made some Passover treats, even though Passover is over, because we didn’t make them while traveling. Ate too much of it and didn’t track it. Also no exercise.
-
Another pass day. I did exercise, and getting closer on the tracking and calories but still just a bit over.

Pass day. Back home but I guess I need to ease into things. Exercise: stretched and walked Tracking: planned the day but estimated a few things and got a bit lazy about accuracy as I changed things later in the day Calories: Even with my inaccuracies I was a bit over. So probably even more over.
