I'm continuing the Jack Campbell series with book 2, Fearless, because I really did like book 1. The books are named after names of the starships in the series.

Finished Louisa May Alcott with Jo's Boys tonight, which wasn't as strong as the others to me. Now I am starting book one of The Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell, Dauntless which has been on my TBR pile for a long time. Military Sci-Fi/Space Opera.

I liked Little Women (parts 1 & 2 which I didn't realize were two books until I got into the second half, Good Wives). I'm now reading Little Men and enjoying that one too. I have an omnibus that contains all of the three (or four?) books, also Jo's Boys, that I got for free one day on Amazon for kindle. It is a good…

Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree is pretty good so far, and short.

I read the 22 hour audiobook/immersion read of The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy for the past three days. I found it to be a "meh" book for me, it had a good premise but I have been involved in psychiatry as a patient for over 20 years and I have never met a psych provider that acted at all like the psychiatrist in this…

Glad to see you here, @LadyCalico2 . Good job on the challenge! Some on your list are some of my favorite books (Mother Night, Bridge of Clay, All Systems Red, Old Man's War, We Are the Light). You have great taste in books!

I have been active so listening to Winchester:1887, the sequel to the other book I read, and I haven't made any progress on my immersion read. I made my first batch of salsa verde today, but it has jalapenos and those bother my stomach so I have to wait to eat some until after my morning doctor appointment tomorrow lest I…

I started one immersion read, Victoria Schwab's The Near Witch, and while I have been preoccupied with the sale I am listening to J.A. Johnstone's Winchester: 1886, a western.

Finishing the J.A. Johnstone western series "Have Brides, Will Travel" book 3 Till Death tonight. J.A. is the niece of her late uncle William who's name she writes under. This series is a bit better than the usual Johnstone fare, which is typically pretty formulaic as far as westerns go, but they are entertaining if I want…

I think you have this one in the bag! Although Q and X are hardest...

I'm reading a book off the list I created from the Great Courses lecture series I listened to about Great American Bestsellers. I picked a classic, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I have never even heard a summary of the story before I had listened to that lecture.

I read Margaret Atwood's second book in the MaddAddam trilogy The Year of the Flood and found the music and singing to be just weird. The whole book had a strange feel to me, but the singing was over the top. I really liked book one, Oryx and Crake. Then I read the Kwame Alexander trilogy The Crossover including The…

I'm reading the second book in the MaddAddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood, The Year of the Flood. In my workout time I am enjoying the YA books by Alan Gratz. They are easy reads and easily listened to on audiobook format while I put in my steps. Something Rotten was good, Ground Zero was very good, and I'm into Two Degrees…

I have been alternating between listening to my audiobooks and watching/listening to The Waltons on FreeVee over Bluetooth headphones during my exercising. I've been doing great, last week I averaged 11,500 steps per day for the entire week, higher than I ever had done before. I've gone from 211 pounds to 205.1 in the past…

1356 by Bernard Cornwell.

I didn't like the book Last Shot: A Han and Lando Story (Star Wars) by Daniel Jose Older very well. I did like the movie novelization of Solo by Mur Lafferty quite a bit though. Movie tie in books are very hit or miss. In between I read (or rather listened to) The Great Courses series installment of Great American…

I finished my book and get to pick a new one! Happy Day!

Glad to read the review. I will bump the book down or off my giant list. I'm blasting through book 3 of The Grail Quest by Bernard Cornwell, Heretic. It's historical fiction about the Hundred Years' War.

Spencer's Mountain by Earl Hamner Jr. was a novel that was the basis for the television show The Waltons. I have been watching the show on FreeVee and I recently finished season 4, a large time sink as each season is about 25 episodes long. Spencer's Mountain was good, and is followed by a Christmas story called The…

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood

I read Child 44, a thriller by Tom Rob Smith, and Farewell Summer (sequel to Dandelion Wine) by Ray Bradbury, now reading: Besieged (Iron Druid Chronicle #9) by Kevin Hearne

Five stars for Boy's Life by Robert R. McCammon for me. I finished it this afternoon, narrated by George Newbern. It is a great coming-of-age story with fantasy elements. I'm now reading Ban This Book by Alan Gratz, a book that is in the news because a Florida school district banned it. I'm with the Banned and oppose…
