  • Ah. Yes. Lightbulb! Neck tension is a trigger. Thanks. I'll work on this.
  • Listen to your body. Do lots of stretching and rolling to keep or develop flexibility and help warm up/warm down. Also, invest in a good rain jacket for running. Some of my favourite runs are in the rain.
  • Oh. Well that changes things! I thought it a little bizarre that taking a nap would show as high stress! Thanks. I obviously need to do a bit more reading...
  • On the off chance someone else was considering buying a Garmin forerunner 245 Music...I'd highly recommend it! Only downside is the battery life when you use the music and GPS for 2-3 hours a day. The data I get is interesting. Some of it a bit weird like the stress score. It had me stressed when I was having a nap! But…
  • So I'm thinking from all this, that I've just been eating at maintenance (for me) for the last few months, which means my BMR is less than I thought it was. I'm currently on 1385 calories a day (without adding any exercise calories) and I'm not willing to drop below this...so this is my "new" set weight. I'm ok with that.…
  • @AnnPT77 wow! Thanks for the response. My deficit is my own calculations going off data from the last 18 months or so. Initially I worked with the given calories from MyNetDiary. ( Same as MFP but I preferred the interface). Now I use my own data, which gives me fewer calories than MND and MFP but I think my body has…
  • @I2k4 "No mention of either diet or exercise, and changes to those, since the surgery or currently. Something must account for the gradual weight loss, " It was intentional. I log religiously. I run. I walk. I strength train. I bike. I stopped eating so much meat and dairy (my body didn't tolerate it well after the…
  • There are a few articles about it, but it seems to just be a theory? Most of what I've read isn't particularly scientific, and just says it's true for mice but not sure about humans. It's got me intrigued though
  • @cwolfman13 , @SomeMFPuser Thank you for responding. I have nothing around that will interfere with GPS so it should be ok. It's a lot of money to spend so I wanted to be sure that the research I did included people that have used one.
  • How your body shape is totally different. It's completely changed from what it was at the same weight previously. How you lose inches in random ways. One calf lost significantly more than the other...took 6 months for them to be almost the same size. Loose skin is better than being overweight...shaper underwear can hide a…
  • They do seem to. I had a cheap fitness tracker (Xiaomi) previously which I really liked but I'm keen to delve a bit deeper into some data and having it play music so I don't need to carry my phone is a bonus. Plus a bit more accuracy with an inbuilt GPS. Not sure about battery life....I'm used to charging my Xiaomi every…
  • I often have days when I'm so hungry I could eat a horse. Other days I can get to early afternoon and realise I haven't eaten all day. Our bodies are weird machines. Not giving advice because I don't think you wanted any. Just know that it happens to others too!
  • Ditto the body glide for chafing. It's awesome. Curash powder for when you do chafe. Bluetooth headphones, waterproof. Two tags leggings with pockets. They're awesome.
  • I started walking. It's so hard when you're big. Chafing, chub rub whatever you call it is horrible, and can hurt. However, I promise it does get better. I started off just short, flat walks. Then I found a great yoga book which gave adaptations for beginners. So I incorporated that most days after my walk. Soon my walks…
  • Well done on your weight loss. I have no advice but will follow... as my excess skin is beginning to cause problems too. I'm thinking about having it removed but the whole idea is quite scary. (And expensive!)
  • I have both a mountain bike and e-bike. I use my e-bike to commute to work, go shopping etc. (Got rid of my car). I love it. I can choose how much pedal assist I use...more uphill, less on the flat! It's perfect when it rains as I can get home really quickly compared to my normal bike 🙂 I have only used my mountain bike…
  • I've had a range of comments. From "you're looking really healthy" to "have you had weight loss surgery"....hmmm. was I unhealthy before? and nope, it took two years but you just didn't notice until we came back after a break. Can't think of anything I've liked people saying. I'd prefer them not to comment at all I think.
  • I'm interested in the idea of a set point. It's something my surgeon said to me recently when I had my annual follow-up from some major issues a few years ago. I've lost a considerable amount of weight since he first saw me and he wanted to know how I'd done it. When I said I'd pretty much been the same weight for around 3…
  • Yeah... it's nice to feel that you've worked hard, but not exhausted or sore. I like the kind of "heaviness" I get when I've had a good session...cardio, strength or both.
  • Ditto the chair fitness idea. I did that for a while when my knee was bad. Gentle yoga is good. YouTube videos for Pilates. You can do it at home...I hated being seen in public at first. Cycling is good. If you have a bike....easy on the body. You can go as fast or slow as you like. And of course, walking. When I started,…
  • I gave my car to my son so I now have to cycle if I want to go somewhere. I walk and run regularly but the cycling is adding a new component to my life. I cycle to and from work now. This weekend I needed to just get out so biked to a coffee shop, bought a coffee and wandered around the park while I drank it as I couldn't…
  • Bread. I read somewhere "bread is just a vehicle for calories". In my case-so true! I have to avoid bread.... it's not possible just to eat one slice🤣🤣
  • Thanks for your replies. I think I'll carry on with what I'm doing now and change things when my body tells me to. I get plenty of protein over the day and, so far, don't need any carbs while I jog. I'm navigating a new space with all this so thanks for your input.
  • I second wearing two bras. My preferred brand is the triumph tri-action bra underneath with a fitted, no-wire bra on top. I got the fitted bra from the runfaster website. I like triumph so use their brand, but I have a great Bendon one I wear as well.
  • I do the overnight oats as people above have mentioned. I have freeze-dried fruit which I add to change the flavour. Very few calories and intense flavour for very little fruit. I have boysenberries, strawberries or raspberries usually. I break up one or two berries and sprinkle them through. Just got some freeze-dried…
  • Those numbers are awesome! Hadn't looked at it from that perspective. Thank you. Definitely makes me feel a bit more relaxed about upping calories.
  • Thanks. I'll increase slowly. Hadn't thought about doing it this way...just assumed I went straight up to maintenance. This will help with my mindset too.
  • Yeah....just got to keep it off now! That's the hard part. "Wondering if I should just go into maintenance now or keep trying to lose?" I would try a month at estimated maintenance rather than a week (I'd ramp up calories rather than jump up), note estimated maintenance rather than current calorie intake. So I need to work…
  • There's a bit of excess skin. I can't actually work out how much is skin and whether there is still fat there to lose. Not sure the skin weighs 8kg though!
  • The blood vessels in my skull that give me migraines.
