  • I see "Invite Friends" as an option, but the group is unrestricted for joining, so I think the easiest thing would be to share the direct link to the group page with anyone you wanted to invite: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/141628-salazars-sanctuary
  • Not too far from me. I'm in Charlotte. Did you happen to visit Blackberry Farm? Looks about 25 miles east of there.
  • First thing that came to my mind..........couldn't resist.
  • @pisanee Did you make the chili? Cold and rainy here, so perfect chili weather. This is just assembled, before covering up the crockpot.
  • Morning stretch done. Then we went hiking and dropped almost four mins off our typical 65 minutes. ICY to get outside and enjoy some fresh air and sun before it gets much more like winter. (We're due to hit 32F freezing tonight for first time tonight.)
  • @bradkcrew I meant to add that my wife has the Fitbit Sense and loves it. When I saw the larger watch face, I knew I needed a "watch" style for it's brightness, and readability. @Allaesa72 When I switched Fitbits (older tech to newer) I noticed it went from the basic formula (220 minus age) to using METS, based on my…
  • I used my wife's old Charge 2 or 3 to first make sure I needed one. Its screen/face was too small and dark when outside. I put up with it until I got a Versa 2 on sale. It's great. Great battery life, fairly quick syncs with app/phone. I was able to customize my top seven activities so they come up for easy selection…
  • I'm finding there is a mystical balance to be found. Towards the end of 36, I was ready for a break. Now on break, and not getting to gym consistently, I'm wanting 37 to start.
  • IDK typical schedule, but weigh-in is Friday 12th, so I'd guess 8th to 10th so we have time to join all the groups, etc.
  • Fitbit models on sale on Amazon from 33% to 40% off.
  • @pisanee I moved this here from ICY thread......... A lot of ATK episodes are on YouTube. The ATK website sub gets you download-ability of recipe steps, and written ingredient lists, etc. And there's an ATK app, so you can carry a recipe to the store for shopping, etc. This veggie chili makes three quarts (48-50oz) in my…
  • ICY to find and prepare a new recipe from some new source.
  • Had this thought this morning........what if you purposefully decided now, or by Nov 20? which and how many "blow-off eating well days" you thought was allowable? Do that in advance, and maybe use it as incentive to work out more/harder in advance, etc. Then write yourself some coupons for that number of days, as a gift to…
  • Yea, there is definitely one question as to whether your own calorie deficit that works for you today, when you have more to lose, will continue to work the same as you reach a healthy maintenance weight. Then the second question is whether your norms work during the holidays, with or without acceptable efforts and stress.
  • https://www.discovermagazine.com/health/how-does-the-human-body-burn-fat Good overview of fat cells in the body, and how limiting calories and increasing exercise help to reduce them.
  • @pisanee If you like veggie chili, I would be happy to post my recipe for that. If you enjoy cooking, I heartily recommend looking at joining America's Test Kitchen, online. Shannon joined ATK this summer, and it's been totally worth it. Recipes are great, but more important, techniques and tricks in the kitchen have…
  • My wife and I "debate" this all the time. I'm with you, in that I think the first XX pounds are prolly easier than the last XX pounds. She's more "it's a formula, and if you're doing the same, correct things, it is just as easy to lose 2# per week." We hear all the time "the last XX pounds are the hardest to lose." IMO,…
  • That's awesome! Congrats on your progress.
  • Been a tough ten days with family here until yesterday. Got leaves up and seed down, and went to gym for cardio. Gonna get back to a full gym day tmrw. In general, I think moderation works better mentally than deprivation, so tasting everything without over-doing it seems a workable compromise. If one views it as a day or…
  • Ugh. Must go rake leaves up before rain starts later. More grass seed too, if possible. Two weeks tomorrow is next weigh in. ICY to set a goal weight for that Friday, Nov 12th. And then a two-week plan to make it there.
  • 75 seconds wall sit. I had done some 60s for some challenge, so went for 75. It's hard not to focus on static exercises like that. I much prefer a plank with some moving parts to a static plank. ICY to work your legs: lunges, squats, whatever works.
  • I'm switching to maintenance next term, and generally thinking of a cheat day per week. That's essentially a cheat dinner out with drinks for me. I'm with you on sodium, and have written off many frozen meals I really like, but they're 30%-plus on sodium. Some as high as 45%. For the holidays, I try everything made, but…
  • Stretching while listening to the O'Jays on Daryl's House. ICY to exercise to whatever music gets you into a groove. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzWRT-PAGQk
  • ICAOY to complete the end-of-term-36 survey they posted.
  • I thought about it, and still consider it, but put No on the application.
  • ICAOY (all of you) to ponder if you want to try a small bingo card during break. We could make one combined and flexible card together, or each our own, and post a pic here, if we don't want google sheets during break. I was thinking a three-by-three with more generic, "keep on track" tasks such as.... * meet my step goal…
  • Early sign-ups for current students for Term 37 are now being accepted. It opens up to others starting Sunday.
  • Sure, all ideas welcome. I'm a rookie, but I figure there is largely dead air b/t terms, since each term requires taking roll call, sorting, and sending out invites, etc. For this, I was thinking "just enough" to stay on the wagon between terms, and also try to keep up interest in Slytherin House as first choice. Maybe…
