Health Canada's guidelines on alcohol consumption have changed dramatically. In 2011, the guidelines said that a consumption level of up to 2 drinks per day, or 10 per week, for women and up to 3 drinks per day, or 15 per week, for men was considered "low risk." The update is based on two years of research and a review of…

I have lost a little over 17 inches since September!!

Since my longer fast completed on Monday (90 hours), I have noticed I can't eat as much as I used to before getting full. Has anyone else noticed this? I had 700 extra calories today, and usually it's more like 200.

I am in week 2 of my 8-week walking program, and I'm way ahead of the game. Distances are more in keeping with week 4 and times with week 5. I'm now hoping to be able to walk 5K sooner than 8 weeks (c'mon, achilles, you can do it!). I also realized that I've got a streak of exercise going (at least 10 min per day). It's…

Thank you! I am just about to wrap up my first-ever longer fast. I was aiming for 72 hours, which would have meant eating supper last night, but I wasn't hungry.... so I just kept going. I'm amazed, frankly. I was sure I'd be counting down the minutes until I could have a mug of bone broth. Right now I'm at 88 hours and…

Yes, I have gone to the one in Calgary, where I live. It's on the opposite side of the city, but so what. I first heard about ParkRun in a YouTube video and was thrilled to learn there's one right here.

That's terrific! I am allllmost at 30 pounds and hope to get there this month. Maybe I'll even reach the TEENS! Boy, I would love that... SW: 253 Jan 5: 231 Jan 16: 223.4

There are 57 locations in the States. Maybe one is close to you? https://www.parkrun.us/events/#geo=1.19/24.6/-87.9

Great article. Thank you for sharing!

Oh, that's brutal. Sorry to hear about that loss of data. I just got my new Charge 5 today; my old one got water damaged in early January. I am surprised at how much I missed it and how eager I was to see the package on my doorstep today! LOL Super excited to get back to tracking my steps, sleep, etc.

I am new to this group and have enjoyed reading everyone's comments. I have never had a problem with alcohol and thus have never felt the need to go AF, but hubby and I decided to do so this year for a few reasons:* He's been diagnosed with high blood pressure, and alcohol is a contributing factor. * We both want to lose…

That's an interesting approach. How do you time the 36-hour fasts? Do you just keep eating once every 36 hours?
-
Hi everyone. I'm new to this group and look forward to the discussions.

I thought I was doing 16:8, but when I started tracking my fasting time with MFP's new feature I found I was usually much closer to 18:6 (yay!). I have not tried 20:4. Are you finding much better results than a 16:8 or an 18:6? This week we are doing our first longer fast, 72 hours. Have you ever done one?

I just tried on a bunch of tops and sweaters that were too tight in early fall. I wasn't expecting any to fit, but most do! If I hadn't tried them on, I would have missed my chance to wear them this season. I am enjoying the "new" additions to my wardrobe.

@sandramarshall200, I (respectfully) disagree with @justanotherloser007. Of course flavor matters, but not, I would argue, in exchange for healthy eating. The popcorn seasoning is a highly processed food, and such foods have been repeatedly shown to be bad for our health. Here's part of what it contains. The first…

Have you started IF, @Curt0959? How is it going so far?

I don't know for sure whether it would knock you out of your fast... probably not. If having that cup keeps you going and you're getting good results, go for it. I usually have a coffee in the morning with some heavy cream, which I know technically breaks the fast, but for me, it keeps me going strong until my first meal…

Definitely! I have been doing 16:8 for a while now, and it just feels normal to me. I've even gone skiing a few times this season and don't eat until "lunch." So, it's not like it's a big struggle or I'm weak from eating within a smaller window. If you eat real foods and stick to items that are satiating, you should be…

Hi everyone! I'm Kacy. I have been following a 16:8 eating window for several months now. I like that MFP now has a feature to track it. I'm often closer to 18 hours of fasting and have been thinking about tightening the window to 18:6 more deliberately. Has anyone noticed any big benefits in doing so? Also, hubby and I…

I know it's already Jan 11, so I'm behind the curve, but I'm still thinking through all my goals for the year. This January I will continue to...* log my food, water, and exercise * eat whole foods within an 8-hour window 80% of the time * avoid gluten, processed crap, added sugars, preservatives, etc. * do incline…

I have an android phone and downloaded the app. I'm confident you could download an app to your iPad or iPhone. I skipped the "start a free trial button." In the free version you can access eight routes, including Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Paris, and Northern Italy. (At least, those are the ones in the android version.) The…

At the gym on Saturday I did Bitgym's Los Angeles course, including the walk of fame, the sunset strip, Hollywood hills, and beach run at sunset. It was fun! (Not often a word I use relative to an elliptical machine. LOL)

I am back in the pool after a few weeks away due to illness, scduking, and being away over the holidays. In the fall I worked up from 260m to 750m. I want to work up to 1km. Hoping to also learn and master the flip turn this quarter!

Thank you for this tip! We first need to buy the freezer (heh heh), but I really want to make it a priority. Then we can make extras or big batches on the weekends and have those go-to homemade items. Using a white board to keep track of things is a terrific idea.

Amazing nonscale victories! I love this!

@themedalist Bitgym is a great suggestion. I'm going to try it next week at the gym! My most successful habit of 2022 was making a habit of SMALL changes. In past years, I've tried to do too much, too soon, and not much ended up sticking. In 2022, starting in July, everything I started had a low threshold and was super…

Oh! Forgot to add... @Angief05 "One thing I have decided, it's time for me to put me first,is that selfish?" NO. Never has been and never will be. "I just find weighing daily helps to keep me motivated and going." I read that if you weigh yourself daily, it's helpful to take your weekly average. From week to week, you can…

Right?? I am the same! So frustrating. Indulgences? Fine; indulge and enjoy it. Deviations from the plan? Inevitable. Ups and downs? Yes, to be expected. And yet, when it happens, it's so easy to want to throw in the towel and allow yourself to spiral. What is up with this crazy disconnect?? Does anyone have any strategies…
