I drank every night a glass of wine (or two, or a bottle). It helped me to unwind and life seemed to be more fun. Then, a few years back, my husband had unexpected surgery and I became his caretaker for about a month during his recovery. The night before he came home from hospital I opened the last bottle and knew I had to…

Wow you are on the right track. 41 pounds is huge and your determination is inspiring. Thank you for posting.

Thank you all for commenting. I just ordered the legsersicer and I am excited. It's going to be a start to get me moving again until I am able to walk outside by myself. I will look into chair yoga and other forms of low-impact cardio for seniors and obese people. Goodness, what did I do to myself? Besides being sick and…

I needed to read this today. Well done!

How do you read your A1C every day? I thought we could only check the glucose in the blood because A1C is the 90-day average that we get when we have bloodwork done? What am I not getting :-) Good job I am glad you A1C is down.

Good morning. Is it ok if I am proud of myself? I lost 6 pounds since I started here. My morning glucose was 116 today (compared to 220 which it has been just eight days ago). I haven't had a bite of chocolate or sweets ever since I got diagnosed with diabetes (March 26th), I enjoy fruits and dried apricots or dates when I…

First official weight check today and I have lost 6 pounds. Bye-bye for good! (My blood glucose was under 140 several times *yippie* I check it now 3 to 4 times a day and I am going down :-) My goodness, I have been hungry. Cravings were rolling in like waves. I think that's normal, my body must be in shock. "Where is the…

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last week on Wednesday. After fasting (morning), my blood sugar was 220 when we did the blood work, and the 90-day glucose AC1 was 6.7. The diagnosis was a shock and a wake-up call. A mental breakdown. I had it coming. Last year in April I was already prediabetic. What did I do?…

I was diagnosed last week. AC1 6.7. I have a doctor's appointment in 90 days. I am motivated and determined. I check my glucose now 3 times a day and it makes all the difference in the world. I have a ton of weight to lose, and only good things to gain.

I am way too big to move with ease, but I just ordered a peddler I can use under the desk or in the evening when we watch TV. I will start with chair yoga. I hope moving gets easier when I lose the weight.

Thank you so much. good luck tomorrow. "Avoiding diabetes medication" is the mental mindset I needed. I just gave the chocolate bunny on the buffet the middle finger and enjoyed a bowl of cabbage soup instead. WE can do this.

I will be happy to be your friend but I will be brutal :-) I have excused my weight in every possible way. I know them all :-) I am motivated, committed, angry, desperate, optimistic and very determined. I had a wake-up call, a mental break and it wasn't pretty.

I am so happy I found this post. I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last week and my doctor offered to put me on Ozempic the new wonder drug, or another diabetes medication (for the moment without insulin). I almost screamed "NO." I don't want to be on medication for diabetes and I don't want to be on a wonder drug that…

Here it comes, the long introduction: “You have diabetes!” my doctor told me last Tuesday and it shocked me. I knew it was coming. Last year in April I was already prediabetic. And what did I do? Nothing! I continued living in denial land. I had it coming. I am heavily overweight (348 lbs last week). I am older (59 but…

I am 'only' 59 seeing the 60 on the horizon. Can I stay? (Started today here at MyFitnessPal) Should I introduce myself? I did it today in the forum under "Introduction" but it seems not many are reading it or I wrote too much sigh (doesn't everybody who likes to talk also write a lot?)

Hello tanbum! I started today here at MyFitnessPal and I have a lot of weight to lose -and I have to kick diabetes to the curb. I am very motivated, and almost excited to be here. I am looking at my healthy plates and clap my hands like a little girl. I need all the help I can get to stay motivated. I think that's the…

Thank you, Margaret, I don't think I have ever been more motivated than I am right now. Almost like I am not fighting the weight, but something so much more important. I am concentrating on the sugar, the good carbs, and the glucose reading. The scale is on the back burner. Today was another healthy day. I will check my…

Hello future friend :-) I am here to stay. I have to. I posted today an introduction (a novel) about my present diabetes diagnosis. I have 100+ American pounds to lose. I am not sure how much that is in stones, but I assume it's a pile. I will send you a friend request because I figured out how to do this.
-
Lisa, when I figure out how to make friends. I will send you a request or invitation :-) I know if I don't change my ways I will have to be on diabetes medication. No way will I go on it before there is no other way. Thank you for answering. Now we are already 2
