  • Everything tastes (and feels) better with whiskey
  • Absolutely! I hated broccoli until a few years ago but my boyfriend is mad on it. I found myself cooking it for him (the things you do, eh?) and I now love it. The trick is to only lightly cook it so its still really green and a bit crunchy. Great in stir fries. I buy huge bags of sesame seeds from Chinese supermarkets…
  • From one English lass to another - you're very welcome! A lot of people try to complicate things. If you start stressing over when to eat food and not to eat food you cut so much out that you lose weight due to calories - but it's not realistic or sustainable (or necessary!). Stir fries are fab. I get the big bags of basic…
  • A few thoughts before everyone piles in! * Personal trainers are generally not the best people to go to for advice. They may have an interest in food but they are not qualified in nutrition. * Not eating after 6pm is nonsense. It's calories in, calories out and time makes no difference. If you want a baked potato with your…
  • And amazing how the people talking sense (i.e. stating there is no scientific evidence these pills work) all have hundreds or even thousands of posts to their name while those getting shouty and suggesting bullying is taking place are first or second time posters (the same person, I wonder?). There is a big…
  • :flowerforyou: Woo hoo! Eight days down... you're over the worst
  • Agreed. The most important thing about stopping is to be in the right place mentally. If this is what the OP wants to do then it is the right thing. And it's fantastic! I know you are not, but if you decide to go cold turkey then when you wake up in the morning you have gone eight hours without topping up your nicotine so…
  • Agreed. Whole milk tastes lovely (coffee isn't the same without it!) and as long as you count the calories, you will be fine. It's a really good way to boost your calories (as is a spoon of coconut oil in your coffee, cream on your fruit and peanut butter eaten straight from the jar!). This whole obsession that others have…
  • Very well put. Eating low calories and then further hammering your body by burning off extra calories through exercise is not the way to go.
  • Posting to see what everyone else says! I don't really know what to do apart from bake them. Usually I top with crumbled feta, finely chopped red chili, coriander and a dressing made with whole grain mustard. Quick and easy dinner and the flavours are amazing together (hot, salty, herby with the sticky sweet potato).
  • Agreed. It can work for anyone. I think the thing is that people seem to think "eat more" means above your TDEE. It isn't. It's about eating more than a very low calorie diet. Put simply, you can eat more as long as it's under your TDEE and still lose weight. It's what I've opted for as eating normal food, drinking alcohol…
  • QFT. I love squats!
  • Post a link when you do! We could all do with some fun this weekend
  • I bow to your awesomeness!
  • You absolutely can get enough protein for a healthy diet by being vegetarian, I agree (and you are making the assumption that I am a meat-eater, although not sure why). But this "cleanse" only contains 23.6g per day, which I think is too low (the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control recommends a minimum of 46g per…
  •
  • Annnnnnndddddd... I've just realised the OP is new, has nothing on their profile and is starting a thread that is bound to get people heated. I smell a t...................
  • Swap one ill-advised cleanse for another? Hmmmmmmm. Where's the protein? Where's the balance of food to get all the nutrients you need? Oh, but if Dr Oz endorses it then it must be okay!
  • Oh nooooooooooooooooo.
  • Mains and dessert all in one! What's not to like
  • Yawn. Putting on ignore.
  • Lol. When I was a kid there was a book called Chilly Billy about the man who turns the light on in the fridge. Tried to buy my brother a copy for his last birthday and it's now a collector's item and costs a fortune. Was a great book :)
  • For crying out loud Mulberry! We get it! You hate sugar and processed carbs. You've have had your say now go away and leave us alone to enjoy our carb threads in peace. It isn't all about you... so do jog on.
  • :explode:  :explode:  :explode:  I am shocked that anyone would suggest something so reckless and stupid. I am utterly shocked to read in your profile that you are a medical student. This is a borderline bulima approach and is not something anyone should try.
  • FTW. It's a bit like saying "I trained for a marathon and didn't get past the first mile" then admitting you didn't actually do any running while training. Unless you are actually logging what you eat you have no idea what your calorie intake is. Buy a set of kitchen scales - weigh and measure everything and log it. If you…
  • And this will make a difference because?
  • Black Whip (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!) (the whip in question is a chocolate whip from M&S)
  • Agreed. I eat it straight out of the tub (handy for lunch when I'm stuck at my desk at work). Sometimes I'll also scoop it up with Ryvita crackers. And it's got to be the full-fat version. Still fairly low in calories and much nicer than the thin, runny low-fat versions.
  • Nom nom nom! My fave is to add peas, feta, pesto and some rocket (let it wilt and cook). Then top with raw rocket and cubes of fried chorizo. Never done it with butternut squash but going to have to give it a go (BBC website for recipe perhaps?).
