QFT. I've mentioned it before but I did a seven-day juice years ago and lost 1lb, got an upset stomach and made a mess of my kitchen. I do fully understand the idea that people somehow want to "cleanse" or "detox" but there is no scientific backing to it. Including juice in your diet/using it as a single meal replacement…

Gimme 11pm-Midnight. Can't stay up any later than that.

Digital scale, food processor (can't live without banana icecream!), egg slicer (hard-boiled eggs shredded into salad are great). But the best thing is my thick/thin cheese slicer - cheap but does the job and means you can shave off really thin slices:…

Difficult to say without knowing more... * Are you/were you overweight? If so, you need a calorie deficit as well as exercise to see results (just cutting out junk isn't enough if you are still eating too much) * What is it you want? Definition? Weight loss? Inch loss? Did you measure all these at the beginning so you…

It's a really simple way to cut calories but I found I was always hungry and they gave me terrible wind! It really does take willpower to do Slimfast and they are so sweet I can't be certain they are good for you. An alternative is just to find 200 calorie recipes and replace two meals a day with them instead. I'd rather…

Sit down, take a deep breath. It's only one week so it's not going to kill you. Buy in some decent fresh food and don't beat yourself up over it. Plan for the week ahead and if you fancy junk food then work it into your calories once a week. You'll be fine

Oh noes... Have a quick search of the forums and there are plenty of threads on this. But, in a nutshell: * There is no such thing as a "jump-start" and your body doesn't need it (which is why someone posted the cleanse thread link - the same principle/idea of "detoxing"). You may get rapid weight loss in 10 days but this…

QFT. If breakfast did magically boost my metabolism I would eat it every day. It doesn't so I'd rather skip it as I'm never hungry first thing and save the calories for a bigger evening meal or snacks during the day.

Agreed. A good starting point is squats, squats and more squats. Also don't rule out running unless your knees really are shot. I've got osteoarthritis in both knees, was crippled with pain and lack of mobility, was told by doctors not to run or do high impact sports, I ignored them and took up running last year and my…

Tip #103 for hitting your daily water target: shower with your mouth open

Honest truth? I wouldn't log it at all as there is miminal calorie burn. Doesn't mean it's not effective, it's just more of a bodyweight strength workout than a calorie burn. And make sure you measure your inches first - your dress size may shift more than the scales with Callanetics (which is a good thing).

Depends on what cardio you are doing. Running is great for getting your legs in shape but exercise such as squats and lunges will speed up the process. I love this routine: http://produmbbellworkouts.com/dumbbell-routines/full-body-high-volume/ Simple, easy to do and effective. There are links to videos of each exercise to…

No no no no no! There is nothing wrong with eating egg yolks. They are full of nutrients and eggs are not high in calories unless you eat a dozen in one sitting.

Phew! You had me going there

Er, yes. Just search the forums for previous threads and you will see plenty of stories (the search button is just above here in blue writing). Mine is here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/955625-7lbs-in-7-days Expensive, stomach-churning, lacking in protein, messy, no real weight loss, no mindblowing experience,…

You're doing all the right things :) I've found Singulair really good (a lot of my asthma issues stem from nasal drip down the back of my throat - ew!). I also rarely average 5mph. In fact I'm certain I could probably walk faster! But I've found a HRM really useful. Even if I'm going really slow I can see my calorie burn…

A few thoughts: * I have asthma too and really understand the breathing issues. I do, however, think you have hit the nail on the head about over thinking things. So much of running is getting your mind in the right place. Try to relax when running, let your shoulders drop a bit and loosen up and have some good music on…

Oh Kim, you've just made me cry! Sorry I missed this when you posted it yesterday. You are such an inspiration to me and I am utterly blessed to have you as a friend. The cheering on was most definitely mutual - and I can't thank you enough for more than giving back. I have no doubt I would not still be running today,…

...I thought you were a medical student?

You say this... Then this... I am stunned! Not often that I am speechless but I really am. Please back up your claims with hard fact. And, no, I don't mean "facts" gleaned on the Internet. Peer-reviewed evidence from a genuine scientific or medical journal please. And I'm not going to hold my breath...
-
:noway: Wow. That actually sounds very close to being science... ...but it's not. 1. The vast majority of people have no issue with yeast. If they do then that is an issue to speak to your doctor about as there is little evidence that diet has any effect (if you know otherwise, please do post up the evidence - peer…

You have mentioned a 7 Day plan - is this by Jason Vale by any chance? If so I did it a couple of years ago (I know, I know, it goes against everything I stand for but I, like the OP, thought it might give me a kick start). My experience: 1. The juices were a pain to prepare, made a mess of my kitchen and worked out really…
