  • Thank you all for your help! I think I will try something new: only enter 1/2 the exercise calories. If I am full, then great. If not, then I will allow myself to finish up. Part of it is I don't want to over eat because I think the numbers the elliptical machine gives me are not too accurate. Anyway, thank you all for…
  • Oh, sorry, yeah I know exercise is not a waste for other things. I was talking in terms of the weight loss. Basically what I am hearing people say is exercise is NOT for weight loss though it has other benefits? Is that what people seem to agree on?
  • Thanks! I didn't even know I could change my caloric goal manually. I will have to look into that. 80 lbs is amazing! Well done!!!
  • Starvation mode is not real until you are at an ideal weight. http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=35501 is a good link, but more importantly, I discussed this with my doctor, because I was quite afraid of it. She said that basically if you don't eat enough your body consumes the fat. The…
  • I do have my activity level set to sedentary. That is a good idea. A lot of what I used to do (before the diet) was mindless eating and I am trying to avoid those habits. I like the spoon to mouth with few cals idea. Thanks!
  • So, MFP put me at 1200 because that's the lowest it will go, and resets to 0.9lbs/week. Also, my point is, I want to make sure I'm losing the weight. If I exercise and the elliptical says I have lost 300 cals, now I have "permission" to eat up to 1500. But I'd rather not eat them IF I AM NOT HUNGRY than just eat because I…
  • Good to know. Thanks!
  • I am 4' 9.5" and 153 lbs at the start (now 150). My goal is at least 115, WHEN (not if this time!!) I get there I will decide what to do. My mom thinks I should be 95 but that was just too drastic a goal for me. Anyway, I told MFP I wanted to lose 1 lb a week. My cal goal should be less than 1200 to get that but it says…
  • Thank you! I'm glad to hear other people have had this struggle and some ways you are dealing with it. Very helpful. Thanks :) And good luck to you as well.
  • Yeah, this is how I want to be. Based on all the responses I don't think I really explained my problem well. I have a very hard time with self-control. The diet itself has been very difficult for me. However, I have committed to putting everything in my mouth in the tracker, and I really don't want to see that red number…
  • So, HOW do you do that? How do you stop yourself from eating those extra allowed calories? Thanks, I could really use the help. :)
  • If you eat back your exercise calories then you don't lose that weight. The whole reason I'm exercising is to lose weight! So I don't want to go waste all that time spent working out. It's more a mental issue, of I see I'm allowed this much and therefore I feel the need to use it up.
  • I have this problem too, though less now because of my new way of thinking about it. If I eat anything and don't track it, next thing I know, well, there goes the day. BUT! that's not true! Cals in vs cals out. Just because I consumed a little more than I should doesn't mean I need to consume a LOT more than I should. This…
  • Wow! Well done working the willpower. That is huge!
  • congrats! Just be careful not to lose your ring. :)
  • yay! congrats. :) Keep it up.
  • Congrats! Keep it up :)
  • Muscle DOES weigh more than fat. A cubic inch of muscle is heavier than a cubic inch of fat.
  • I was on the elliptical when I realized my gym pants felt weird in the butt area. Turned out there was a HUGE rip on the seam right down the middle of my pants. undies showing for sure. I was SO embarrassed.
  • Congrats!!! You look incredible, and such an amazing achievement. Keep it up!
  • WOW. Damn. You are incredible. I now see the value of a before picture, I have not wanted to take one because I hate how I look. But I hope someday to be able to show off my weight loss like you are! In terms of your motivation, first, you blew your first goal out of the park so you can keep going! Just a few more left.…
  • Hi Kimberly, and everyone! First, CONGRATS on shedding the 59 lbs. That is incredible! Well done! I also have trouble, after dinner I want to sneak into the kitchen and eat this and that. Sometimes I still slip up. But here is what I have done to limit myself from this unhealthy behavior, hopefully some of it can help you…
