Healthy weight loss is 0.5-2 lbs a week. The more you have to lose, the more you can lose a week. The important thing to remember is to make SUSTAINABLE changes. Sure, you can do some really drastic changes, but if you think of it as temporary, get the weight off, and then go back to your old ways, the weight WILL come…

don't weigh yourself at night. cut down on processed foods. and really, don't worry about water retention. The point is to lose fat, isn't it?
-
this! I changed mine.

you can manually change your calorie allotment. That's what I did. Just keep in mind, the less you have to lose, the harder it will be. Make sure you are making sustainable changes. If you do something to lose 2 pounds a week and once you hit your goal you go back to your old habits, sorry, but the weight will come back.…

make sure to get a digital scale. that's my advice on it. I can't tell you a brand because I actually use one my dad had gotten for free somewhere. But digital is much more accurate than analog.

DO NOT hold onto them! You don't want to gain the weight back, right? Make it a really negative thing--if you do, you need to spend money on more clothes. Donate them to goodwill/salvation army/other good organization in your area. Other people can use them, you will never need them again. I cannot wait to get rid of my…

how does this flush fat? It sounds like it would just get rid of water weight?

Hi Sam! Nothing different to say besides what everyone else has said, but I wanted to throw in my congratulations as well--every little bit counts and you are doing fantastic! 0.4 down is great! It means you are making sustainable changes, so good on you! Keep up the good work :)

What's stopping you? You said you enjoyed it and you want to get back to it, but you can't. Examine why not, then you can figure out how to solve that problem. If it's junk at home, eliminate that stuff, for example.

How do you know how many calories you are burning? If you are getting the number from the cardio machine, don't trust it. I generally take that number and allow myself to eat back up to half of it, IF I am hungry. And yes, weight lifting will help tighten and tone up your body. But don't eat cals back from that work. I…

if you're not feeling hungry, woozy, etc, why are you concerned about this?
-
Hi! nice to see other people struggling with the same thing. It is SO hard, especially when I am out to eat with my taller friends. :( Anyway, I an 4'9.5" (yes the half inch counts...you know what I'm saying!) and to lose 1 pound a week MFP said I should eat 1150. I do not trust the elliptical machine readout, so I eat…

The obvious statement being--it worked for you. The OP wrote in because what (s)he's doing is NOT working. So something needs to change. I suggested what I would change. Since things ARE working for you, you shouldn't change. But perhaps you can offer advice to the OP who is looking for what to do!

you're fine. First few weeks your body is adjusting to the changes you are making. As you drink more water, your body will realize, oh, I don't need to hang onto all this extra. And so forth. Also, at your starting weight, 2-3lbs a week will be healthy. Healthy weight loss is generally 0.5-2lbs a week. As you get closer to…

THIS. I don't understand. We all got here by overeating but 1200 is too much? I see people posting this all the time and it makes NO sense to me.
-
My guess is you are eating too much. Why did you go from 1200 to 1500? When you put in your height, and weight, and your lifestyle (without exercise) how much does MFP say you should eat to lose a pound a week? Go with that. On days you exercise feel free to eat back the cals IF you are hungry. Also, what you eat…

wait, so you set your activity level higher AND you eat back exercise cals? I think that is the problem. If you use a higher activity level, then you are not allowed to eat back those cals--it's already worked in. If you set it at sedentary, then you can eat back your exercise cals if you want to. Also, what you are eating…

calories are calories. your body doesn't care when you consume them. Also, you can change the labels on the tracker, instead of breakfast, lunch, etc. go to settings--->diary settings--->meal names.

Is this for real? It sounds too good to be true!

I am 4'9". To lose 1 lb a week, 1150 is where I need to be. When I exercise I do eat back those calories. :) Thanks for your concern though.

consumer reports just had an article about this recently. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2013/03/how-accurate-are-chain-restaurant-calorie-counts/index.htm Their main point was, nothing is exact, the chef is not back there measuring out the olive oil, but that it's usually more or less accurate, on average, a…

everything I have read indicates you cannot spot reduce. So losing weight will lead to getting rid of that unwanted fat. good luck! :)

I'd suggest that you stop yelling! (all caps= yelling on the internet) The best way to have people friend you on here is to write interesting posts, help answer others questions where you can, etc. Good luck on your journey to get healthy!

I haven't...I'm sorry, wish I could help. Maybe the help section? or send an email? Good luck I hope you can get it fixed. :)

Healthy weight loss is 0.5-1 lb a week, and you've done just a bit above that. It means you are making sustainable lifestyle changes that will stay with you forever. Lose much more than that a week and you will do what you always have done: yo-yo. Because you will lose and then, when you stop whatever unsustainable…

this is why fad diets don't work. You will inevitably want to break the impossible restrictions, and when you do, you will gain the weight back. To truly lose weight you need to change your lifestyle. For me personally, it has been more portion control and limiting--but NOT excluding--treats. Ditch the fad diet. Figure out…

I believe if you have your setting to lightly active you shouldn't even be logging/eating back exercise as that is already included. If you'd like to, then change your setting to sedentary, and then log exercise. good luck!
