Finally got my rear to the gym yesterday. Was deserted because spring has sprung--would have loved to run outside, but the gym has daycare. 3/9: 2.75 mi. Going to make an effort to walk every day at lunch this week, because I need to move more during the day.

3/3: 1 mile run 3/5: 2.7 mile run. Sooo proud that I ran even though I was really sore yesterday (I have learned not to run a mile before the power exercise class). Feels good to get back on track after a terrible February.

You are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing. You give me hope that I too will see a number on the scale soon that I haven't seen in a very long time. I am struggling with a mini plateau right now, and I really needed to hear this.

Wow, the switch from treadmill to outdoors is going to be tough! I gave week 8 day 2 a go outside, but wasn't able to run for more than 4 1/2 min at a time (which was partially due to my lungs). Think I will restart the c25k about half way through and go for distance when doing outside runs. Headed back in to the treadmill…

3/2: 0.48 mile walk. Gotta start somewhere! Hoping to get in a run tonight before dinner.

Ok, after a ridiculously disappointing February, I am setting a goal of 45 miles again for this month. I still am shooting for 50 in a month sometime this year. Will go make a ticker...

Ok, my final tally was 17.04, which is not even half my goal (and much less than last month). A little disappointed, but life is like that. Back in the saddle for March, going to try again for 45.

Double bump. This always makes me cry, too. And there is a girl at my gym that I totally want to say this to--I am so inspired that she just keeps showing up and doing her thing.
-
Yeah! Glad you figured it out and got back on track!

Do not, do not, do not listed to his comments that "he doesn't like you as a person." He is trying to justify his horrible behavior. As a pp said, it is about him and the bad choices he has made, not you. Do not let this affect your self esteem. I have BTDT too, and I let it eat at me. You need to concentrate on you, and…

I sometimes use the splenda brown sugar in my oatmeal and I log it. I didn't always log my diet drinks (some actually have 5 cals) but I do now.

If the photos in your profile are the ones you refer to, I see a big difference between the middle pic and the end pic. I think you are being too hard on yourself.

I completely disagree: I much prefer the lying charlatans over the "drunk the Kool Aid" charlatans. I cannot abide willful stupidity in any form. Otherwise he is spot on.

Argh, you beat me to it! This is why I love your comments. :flowerforyou:

Absolutely you deserve a gift for putting up with it! And horseback riding (and horse care in general) is great exercise! I am taking lessons now and learning to jump, which is something I have dreamed of doing for years. I hope that once I get a couple of student loans paid off (which I am on track to do by next year), I…

I prefer geldings, too (although my favorite horse so far was a stallion that I trained years ago, but that is another story). When I am finally in the market again, I would consider a really good mare, too. I think for most mares the witchyness isn't that hard to ignore/overcome. So I guess my vote is, it doesn't really…

This, this, and this! My weight loss slowed when I was eating back my calories at the MFP estimates (I didn't check your diary but assume you have been). I now log half the calories of MFP estimates and seem to be back on track. I would try that first, if I were you. If I have made a wrong assumption and you do not eat…

Oh, and here is the (sad) breakdown: 2/6: 0.4 mi 2/11: 3 mi 2/13: .25 mi 2/22: 1.5 mi 2/25: 2.5 mi

Thanks to both of you for this--I really needed to see it this morning. I have been beating myself up for my dismal numbers this month. Snow plus strep throat plus pink eye (and not all at the same time!) equals a terrible month for workouts. But I worked out on Saturday even though I was out of town, and hit the gym last…

Both Jimmy Dean and Special K make breakfast bowls/sandwiches that are good, if you aren't opposed to frozen convenience food. I try to make myself egg beaters in muffin tins on the weekend (just pop in microwave during the week); they might not get as rubbery as your hardboiled eggs, especially if you add sauteed veggies.…

New favorite gif of all time. :drinker:

I am probably one of the most raging feminists on this site, but I think what she said is being taken out of context. Her point is to encourage women who don't currently exercise/do sports, and saying that those women should try things like ballet and zumba rather than sitting on the couch. If in fact such women are…

Congrats for finishing 5K and for setting your new goal! I am still working my way through C25K, but can relate to the "head giving up" feeling. It may sound corny, but I visualize myself achieving my goal (in my case related to horseback riding rather than running!) and how great it will feel. I also have some great music…

Didn't read all of the replies, but I am going to recommend one more book: the Beck Diet Solution. It is not a diet per se, it is cognitive behavioral therapy to change your relationship to food and eating. I found it immensely helpful when I had gotten off track, given up, and regained 20 lbs. It is not an overnight fix,…

But Varda, we had 4 degree days here in Georgia a few weeks ago! Of course it is 70 today. :glasses: I run exclusively on the treadmill right now, because cold air irritates my asthma, and because they have a daycare. I have heard that putting the incline to 1 helps simulate running outside, so I may do that a little to…

I am doing (sort of) the Body By You program, which consists of body weight exercises. I like it so far, but I have difficulty committing to 3x per week and doing C25K 3x per week (hence the sort of). Especially because I also horseback ride once a week, which is my main focus.
-
Body By You is another body weight program that is geared toward women. I have been doing it a couple weeks and am seeing progress. Yoga is also a good complement to running--helps you stretch and improves balance.

1) That scheduling exercise is so difficult right now due to my husband's crazy schedule. 2) That my calories and eating are all over the place, because I still struggle with emotional eating. 3) That my losses have slowed down because of 1 and 2. 4) The weather totally sucks right now and makes it difficult to do anything…

Fantastic. You are doing it, and I love your swimming motto!

I would think 80 calories is a "rounding error." Try the higher number, if your losses are too slow/non-existent, bump it down.
