I'm back! Still chasing 50 miles, and haven't gotten any in the first two days, but I'm committing nonetheless.

Halloween: buy candy you don't like. Or plastic treats or some such. Thanksgiving: is one day. Eat whatever you want for one day, then back on the wagon the next. If you are cooking/hosting or live with who is, have a plan for the leftovers. Even if it is just to weigh and measure when you eat them on Friday. And I agree…

Ok, I know this is wrong, but the always one just makes me think of the maxipads. I'm getting my first and probably only tattoo at 40 next year, but hadn't really considered making it weight loss related.

Ditto on the slow down. Totally counterintuitive, but it really works.

You know, in these threads I usually like to compliment the best gif, but I already can't decide! The Boo one is hysterical, but the guy being thrown from the car is genius. I know I really don't need to comment to OP, but...seriously?! Let me guess, you're an anti-vaxxer too.

I almost spewed my coffee when I got to the part about the Belgian--good for you for keeping a sense of humor. Amazing how skewed our perceptions can be, huh? You look great in that dress--congrats!
-
Way to go! I can't wait to get there myself!!

Why don't you eat dinner with your kids? That would free up some evening time after bed. I know some people are adamant about early morning exercise, but it just doesn't work for me. I am too sleepy in the mornings. I either exercise after work (my gym has daycare, or my husband watches them) or after they are in bed.

IIFYM, plus exercise. I know that exercise isn't strictly necessary, but I like to eat. So it has helped me sustain losses while not feeling like I am starving.

Weigh the empty stock pot, then subtract that amount from the weight of the finished product. Divide total calories by number of grams or ounces. Multiply per ounce or gram calories times however much you eat at a time.

So sorry to hear that, I know you will miss him. But hopefully he will get a new owner that adores him!

Pretty much all of my workpants were too tight and left marks. But what made me saddest was not being able to button my long wool coat that my hubby bought me. It is a little loose now!!

" I also haven't been to the gym because I am afraid, I don't want to be "That Girl" again. The one huffying for breath because she is so heavy she cant breath, the one that cant run longer than 1 minute without stopping or lift more than 5lbs without hurting. Its all very discouraging when I think of where I was at,…

Agree with pp that it is mostly/all water weight. Just wanted to add that I tend to overeat when I am sick, especially comfort foods and sweets, in a (stupid) effort to make myself feel better. So unless I have a stomach bug, I do gain when I'm sick. But I get back on track once I'm well and get back to losing.

Most everyone has the want, but not everyone will sit down, make a plan, and start making those good choices. And once you make a choice, it becomes infinitely easier (and not even really a choice anymore) if it becomes a habit. It is habit for me not to buy snacks at the snack shop at work. It is habit now for me not to…

Fox hunting. I still hurt today from Wednesday's three-hour hunt, and I didn't even jump my horse over anything.

Body pump is my favorite, followed closely by yoga. I find pilates to be more like aerobics, and don't really care for it. Trying to get up my courage for a water-based class or spin.
-
I usually do a greek yogurt before I leave work; coincidentally my commute is an hour, but I agree with pp's that you don't have to wait that long if it is a light snack.

Me too--my new favorite gif.

I skimmed the other replies and didn't see this tip: GET GOOD SHOES!! Yes, I shouted it. Do it first. I started C25K and it bothered my knees, which I thought was just because I'm pushing 40. Nope--needed better shoes. Haven't had a knee twinge since. Oh, and the worrying about other folks thing? LOTS of people do C25K.…

You've gotten a lot of good advice (with the exception of the carb thing). I would add that I find drinking carbonated flavored water helps me keep hunger at bay--sorry if this is a repeat, but didn't see it in the tips I skimmed. I also second the protein snacks recommendation; I find if I concentrate on getting in more…

That is a ridiculous statement. There is a world of room between "afraid of offending anyone, ever" and "being an obnoxious @rse who is intentionally offensive." I think being polite and respectful is a happy medium, and it requires taking into account another's emotional reactions.

TKO--Justin Timberlake Motivation--Kelly Rowland My Moment--DJ Drama Representin--Ludacris The Show Goes On--Lupe Fiasco As you can see, my playlist trends heavily hip hop. But I also like to mix it up with some hair bands from the 80s/90s--Kiss and Skid Row being favorites.

Since we didn't hear back, I am assuming that you log in from a desktop and that it worked!

I struggled a lot when I attempted to transition to outside running, got frustrated and gave up. I think for me the transition was harder due to all of the hills in our neighborhood, and by the fact that I wasn't being consistent in my training (i.e. less than three times a week). I have restarted now and been able to do…
-
I am restarting as well--I finished c25k on the treadmill back in the spring, and had a rough time transitioning to outdoors (especially with the temperatures). I did two days of week 3 this week, and plan to skip ahead to week 5 tomorrow. Trying to get ready for a 5k in October--hope I make it!

I love this. Why haven't I thought of it before?! Gonna do this next time I need a distraction from mindless eating. OP--I just gave my sister a huge pile of my clothes--she has recently lost weight, too, so was in need of new things. Win win!

Not sure if this is your hang-up, but mine was "waste." So I tell myself, it can go to waste in the trash, where it can't hurt me, or it can go to "waste" in my body, and turn into excess fat. The excess fat will make my clothes not fit, and cause all sorts of problems, so that "waste" is much worse.

I am so sorry--that is awful. The hunter/jumper world has always seemed very judgy on size to me, so even though I have wanted to learn to jump since I was a kid, I never really took lessons until I lost weight last year. I am still far from skinny, but I plan to show next year and to he** with anyone that judges my fat…

That is great news on both counts! You will lose that 11 and have a fantastic show. So glad to hear the proud flesh is gone and the wound is on the mend. You look great in your profile pic, too, by the way!
