^^this....if marriage is important to her and she wants to be Mrs. Johnny then they need to discuss it. If he's still opposed (as he made clear in front of her and their friends) then move on and find someone who can fulfill that desire.

^^^Exactly! all you can control is you, don't sweat the other people. Kudos for you for signing up and getting out there...that's the biggest step.! Regarding finishing faster next time....maybe try more walk/running (like Couch 2 5K)?..hopefully you can get injury free (is it your shins?) Your pace was 16:23....so if you…

You look great for a 'work in progress' and I bet you feel so much stronger and healthier....you are an inspiration!!

Agree with everyone on here....take them back, describe the pain/discomfort, see if they can do a gait analysis and get a different shoe and do the same thing (run on the treadmill) and find a pair that suits you. toss the 4 year old ones....or donate them.

Take L Lysine (a pill) the day before, during and after each run.....that helps when I'm in situation where they 'flare' up....like elledo....it's usually when it's cold/windy or when I get sunburned....and stress, glorious glorious stress plays the biggest role for me.

I"m with you - no matter how thin I could be, my legs will touch and my shorts will ride up (I'm slightly knock-knee'ed)...as in, 'oh no, my crotch is eating my shorts'......my luck has been compression shorts with a running skirt over it - I like the ones from runningskirts.com (the ones with underwear built in...because…

Sounds like there's a spot on the registration for if you are a runner or walker? Sign up for the run portion, do what you can and then walk if necesary. You might want to check out the Couch 2 5K program...that will get you headed in the right direction. There might not be enough time to complete the program before your…

If you've already signed up for October....your hooked!!! I know the feeling, I am 'not a runner' but we're signed up for our 4th one in early May. I ran my first half last November (Rock & Roll Savannah). I am a sucker for the finisher medals :-) It's such an awesome sense of accomplishment...even if you hate every minute…

1st thought it shoes and 2nd thought is stretch?

Bump for later.

I say you can take credit when you either run 5k (training) consistently or when you finish the race - even if there are some walk breaks. For the race, you'll go out faster (I took two 1 minute walk breaks for my first 5K If memory serves me right? around the water breaks)....and if you don't want to be 'technical'...you…

No idea how to stop it and it's hard because it sounds like your on a lunch break when you do it.....I have my 'buffer' time too, where I walk, stretch, travel back from gym and then take a coolish shower. The colder I can get the shower, the better I am in the long run....

Hey all - I'm 38 and 5ft 1in.....have lost about 16lbs and would like to double that.....feel free to add me!

^^^I think 'this' all the time....thank goodness...and on the off chance someone did take pictures, they are most likely in a dusty shoebox somewhere....not plastered all over the internet :-)

1. run a 5K in under 28 minutes (haven't run a 5K yet in 2012 but summer running in FLA are all 5K's..been doing distance so far.) 2. Run 4 half marathons in 2012 - beat my current PR of 2h13m. (2 down). 3. run my first marathon in 2012 - goal under 4:45. (trying to get in the lotto for the Nike's Womens Marathon in San…

I love them...great toning workout...actually my obliques are sore (good sore) right now from my kettlebell workout yesterday! As someone said, you need to be careful with them as to no damage your furniture or self, and make sure your form is good/controlled It's an awesome workout where you can feel/see the results!!

bump for later.

you rock!!! AWESOME.

Awesome job tall people!!! Love his glasses.

I see in your profile that you really don't exercise - add 30 minutes of activity (anything to get your heart rate up) a day - that should release some endomorphins (sp) and some good brain chemistry. I see you live in ohio too - I think it's cloudy there a lot (i grew up in Pittsburgh and know clouds)...a lightbox might…

Do you ever run outside? I really struggled on the C25K when I did it a few years ago when I was on the treadmill...I had in my mind all the numbers and I'd get frustrated with myself if I could't do it (i.e. I have to 'run' at 5.0 or 5.2)...I moved it outside and it took speed out of the equation since you don't know how…

Check your shoes....if you just ran a Half you shouldn't have that much pain after 2 miles....good shoes (fitted by a running store) have cured a lot of my pains/ills.

Saw it for the first time last weekend too (the Kardashian board game)....howling!!! Gotta remember to DVR it.

I usually give it 100 pages...if it doesn't get me by then, I am put it down and start another one without thinking twice. Two books I would have put down before 100 pages (and I'm so glad I didn't)....Wicked and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (but to be fair I had a hard time keeping the characters straight on this…
