  • Your core is the band of muscles that include your abdominals, lower back and side muscles (the name of those escape me) they circle everything from your butt to just below your chest, you will feel pain, it will hurt, but once you get some strength in those muscles it will aid the rest of your body no end, your posture,…
  • No Pizza No Chocolate/Sweets Believe me both the above were serious issues. I still have a drink at the weekends (though not to excess) I'm eating more 'fresh' food rather than pre-packaged. Like others my planning isn't the best yet (ran out of food and cash today lol) but it's getting better.
  • I had a massive crash 7 days into my diet, friends bought chocolate for me but I decided not to do it and just gave the chocolate to my flatmate who was very happy. I'm not trying to paint myself as a saint, I have my treats, popcorn at the cinema, the odd beer at the weekend and I love my Quavers :) but all in all I know…
  • I think I was in starvation mode for about 4 or 5 months once. I ended up being borderline diabetic, almost gave myself liver/kidney problems, I was very lucky I didn't end up giving myself serious health issues, I'm very lucky I recovered, I lost 10 stone on that (it did include working out 2 hours a day as well). a year…
  • If you think you're bad. You 'ain't got nothing on me :) From a guys standpoint that is. I actually feel that I'm of no worth to anyone. I've been single for 6 years, my partner at that time got with me when I was smaller and both of us went up a lot in weight when we were together, we tried to diet but nothing ever…
  • Well. I'm not going to tell you off, I've been in the same situation as you so many times, and I can get motivated for a couple of months but then it just falls away. All I can say is. You will know when you are ready to lose that weight, something will click on in your head. However if you sit around thinking "that's…
  • Great job. Expect some envious glares from the guys around the pool. I'm sure they will be counter balanced somewhat though :)
  • No you're not addicted. Okay I love my sweets, I could eat a 1kg bar of chocolate, no problem at all, I could eat 2 bags of M&M's no problem, I could eat 4 snickers bars in one sitting, I ate it like food not like 'its a treat' it made up most of my diet, I put sugar in my coffee, 3 in each cup, I put sugar on my cereal. I…
  • Cod liver oil capsules for joints etc. Vitamin C That's it. I'll get everything else I need from my food, I hope :)
  • I'm the angry looking guy who comes in, stays an hour and a half, works out like a maniac then leaves in a soaked shirt. The time I go there's about 3 or 4 people there, I generally don't care about what people think and I try not to look at anyone else. I get very focused :)
  • I want a personal trainer. Thing is I know they are expensive, I'm lucky enough to have a free gym membership with work but I really think getting a trainer to keep me interested would be a massive benefit at this point. Thing is they are expensive and I am on a fairly tight budget, so we'll see. I know I 'can' do this by…
  • As good a place as any to add my 18 :) 4243 + 18 = 4261 Good work :)
  • 2 skinless chicken breasts. 1 Clove of garlic 10ml sesame oil Crush the garlic mix in the oil. Spread over the chicken evenly Wrap in tin foil. Cook in the oven for 30min at 200 degrees. Enjoy. Simple but oh so good.
  • I know we'd like it to go faster, but 1-2lb a week is fine, sometimes we'll get a nice spike in loss, sometimes we may not lose anything. But the changes you're making to your intake and your body are all positive. Even if you didn't drop weight this week, if you've eaten well, exercised and treated your body like you…
  • 3 x Shredded Wheat, 150ml of 2% milk. A bit of a staple for me I have it quite often. 309k - Cals 63g - Carbs 5g - Fat 13g - Protein 9g - Fibre 0 - Sodium
  • My recommendation if you don't want to spend too much but want quality are to go for these: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX300-B-Earbuds-Black/dp/B000E6G9RI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=mp3&qid=1276006082&sr=1-3 $25, they have great sound, can fit most ears (they have changeable ear buds) are built well and they are by far the…
  • You CAN do it. I've always thought A lot of it is mental, a lot of it will be training your mind to do the right thing. That food you hate? Sometimes if you tell yourself you like something it will be so, sounds odd but it is true. You can force yourself to like things. It gets easier. If something healthy is in front of…
  • Happy Monday post :) Congratulations.
  • Once a week, at the gym, same time in the morning either a Monday or a Tuesday morning.
  • Bags of Almonds :)
  • This. Make the letter 'constructive' rather than aggressive though. If you come out with a load of negative energy they are more likely to ignore you, say you like the surgery but after being treated that way you feel you can no longer attend there. And perhaps look for a higher authority that you can send a copy of the…
  • Now being English I say what you would call "Soccer" is called Football. And Both Sports are called that with the NFL being known as Gridiron or American Football. But bleh, I used to play Gridiron over here so I've love for both sports and both have as much skill as the next. One suggestion I'd make to the OP is to go on…
  • Good luck! I've got a ton to lose as well and things are moving in the right direction. 1200 cals doesn't sound a great deal though, I started on 2070 and now down to 2000 and that appears to be working for me alongside the working out as well.
  • 1/2 Pay. Front line. But I bet its more rewarding than sitting behind a desk. Good for you.
  • I have a theory. We (as the human race) have spent so much time recently saying that it's fine to be overweight, it's not a serious issue, there are TV programs showing you how to dress when big and look good etc etc. That we forget, it's not healthy. Being overweight, not that bad, being obese, it's a problem. I think…
  • Weighed myself today, lost 4lbs, also did 100 minutes of excersize (walked to and from the station, 60 mins on the tread climber) and I feel great. A very successful week/day. I wasn't expecting such good results.
  • I always find that most of the equipment will lose your HR especially towards the end of the workout. Must get myself a HRM. It's frustrating when you can't see it :)
  • I used to go to a tailor who would measure my neck and then get the perfect shirt for me. Every time he used my neck measurements. So there's definately something in neck size being a good indicator :)
  • I work out before breakfast, I tend to eat as soon as I finish (it's about a 3 min walk to work from the gym). Been doing this the past few weeks, and so far I must say that not only do I enjoy the atmopshere of the gym at that time of day (it's usually empty) but also my results have been far better than when I go later…
  • Pizza. I have now not had pizza for over a month, it was my regular (as clockwork) Sunday (and sometimes saturday as well) treat. I did love my pizza, Large chicken Sweetcorn and Mushroom pizza with sides of chicken dippers and garlic bread. And I wonder how I got in my present condition :p Anyway. I don't even crave it,…
