Ha! I thought so! I've discovered this, the hard way.

Have you tried explicitly zig-zagging your calories in maintenance mode? That would GIVE you two higher-calorie days every week, and then keep you lower-calorie the rest of the week. Maybe if you explicitly make some room so that it averages out, you'll keep your weight from increasing? If you look at the analysis of the…

I didn't try to look at your diary, but, here are some suggestions... RAW vegetables LOTS of Mrs. Dash -- there are a number of varieties Make as much as possible from scratch Avoid sauces (especially premade ones) Limit cheese Limit canned items (tuna fish, etc.) Pay attention to which foods are NATURALLY high in sodium…

*chuckle* Now, *I* LOVE this post! Don't get me wrong. I'm fat. I'm middle-aged. I'm short. I'm black. I'm a female in a male-dominated field. SUPPOSEDLY, this gives me the right to say whatever I want, by social standards. I also think that that assumption is a pile of bull. I'm sorry that people take their frustration…

I love the message boards for finding new people and gathering ideas. It's good to hear the discussion of various approaches and to hear what has worked for various people (or even to commiserate about the frustrating process). I've heard of a number of different approaches, on here, and then, I've gone and researched…

I'd be interested in knowing what your "food demons" are. It would make it easier to answer you. Since you've lost 18, it's clear that you CAN, in fact, do this. Personally, I've been fitting my exercise around what I do for work. Now, for those of us who are a bit heavier, WALKING, if it is a brisk walk, can make a huge…

Nope!!! That said, I was at luckyprincessmelody's weight several few years ago. I was accused of being obsessed with my weight when I went on a two-year (YES, TWO-YEAR -- the lady, here, has endocrine ISSUES) crusade to lose the extra, but on someone 4'11" tall? No, you're not alone, and yes, we all DO understand, in this…

Wow. That sounds like a nightmare for anyone with blood sugar or insulin issues -- and TOTALLY bad for any mix with exercise!
-
Ok -- Verified that I CAN, in fact, do them. We'll see whether I can come CLOSE to 250, though!
-
And, yes, that can happen to girls MUCH younger. I knew one who had problems of this nature in her teens. Same problem.

Go see a doctor. Do it immediately. DEMAND hormone-level tests. When mine got irregular, it was the first sign of Premature Ovarian Failure. I have been, for all intensive purposes, full-scale menopausal since the ripe old age of *32*.

Marking this under "My Topics" :-)

WOW!!! That's astonishing!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

Me, three. Lost 6 in 3 weeks, and only 3 in the remaining 4 or 5.

EXACTLY! What makes me grumble, right now, is that I've had to cut a lot of fruit out. Although I tend to have a fairly high protein diet, there was a lot of sugar in the fruit, and evidently, my body likes to STORE that. Nothing like fighting your body to keep it healthy!

I want one of those space saver adjustable ones!

jrdoty does have it right in that quitting them cold turkey fixes the cravings. I used to have a weakness for chips. I simply stopped. They are in my house, because my kids get them (OCCASIONALLY!!!), but I simply stopped. Now, they are no temptation. Even on my deliberate "high-calorie" days (part of a zig-zag diet, and…

Now, if you are shorter, weigh close to 200 pounds, and were ALREADY eating fairly clean, it's not going to come all that easily... *sigh*
-
16 oz... 2 and 2/3 individual containers.... I would check your sugar count. If you are keeping within your sugar count, and you have no problems with dairy, I would say that you are fine, but I WOULD check the sugar.

Losing it slowly may be the healthiest way, but if you have a huge amount to lose, like some of us, it's REALLY difficult to contemplate YEARS of this process. Changing habits is fairly easy, actually, but counting calories gets old, and being too heavy gets older still. I'm right with you! I get SO irritated -- especially…

What foreman86 said. :-) I do this, too, although, in order to keep a VEEEERRRRRY stubborn body from plateauing, I also have to zig-zag my calories. But, yes, those are percentages of protein, carb, fat typically. It's the percentages from the "zone" diet, I believe. I just went to my goal settings and changed it. If you…

I add a splash of lemon or lime to my water, but with meals, I LOVE some of the herbal teas. They have a LOT of flavor while still having no calories. Also, since green tea is considered a weight loss aid, you might choose to have your green tea with your meals. I typically have oolong tee with my breakfast (also as a…

You're DEFINITELY not the only one. I encounter this lost inches/same weight syndrome on a regular basis. It makes me want to take jmac's solution to the scale (and THAT was HILARIOUS), but I do need to WEIGH less for my health. I didn't try to look at your diary, so I don't know how much of what you are doing is genuine…

Note: Yes, I take a multi-vitamin.

Thanks for the answers. I now have some questions to take to a doctor with me. :-) I wouldn't have thought about gluten intolerance. Also, I've cut a LOT of fat out of my diet since starting (took the skin off of the chicken and vetoed chips, which were my two worst demons), here, and I've cut a lot of SUGAR, as I've…

I've just been making a LOT of use of my measuring cups. I plan my whole day, first thing in the morning, and then I dole out EXACTLY what I logged. So, I clean my plate, but I don't overeat, because I serve what I am allowed.
-
I've done my walk, but I'll be doing my weights in about 3 hours

Did MFP set you up with only a 200-300 calorie deficit? If you go to your goals page, what does it calculate as your daily calorie deficit when you eat exactly 1200?
-
*chuckle* MFP sets you up with a calorie deficit. To keep your goals, you should keep a calorie deficit. MFP DOES,however, tend to be a bit generous with its pre-calculated estimates of calorie burns on exercises. The recommendation is to not exceed 1000 for a daily calorie deficit (look at your goals page and look at the…
