Hi all, I've had a less than stellar week--was out of town over the weekend visiting the in-laws and didn't run at all from last Mon until today. :frown: But I did go for a couple of long walks, and tried a zumba class Tuesday (wow, does that work different muscles from running! Makes me think I should do more…

OK, I just did W2D1--feeling like I lost a little momentum, but I got through it. Thanks for the motivation everyone! :flowerforyou:

Hi all, I, too, got a little off-track with traveling. It happens every time, no matter how good my intentions. :explode: We were visiting the in-laws, and my MIL is a really good cook--so I ate a lot, stayed up way too late, and did not exercise. :noway: I was going to continue with W2D1 yesterday after we got back, but I…

We're working on the 100 push-up challenge from http://hundredpushups.com/index.html. Most of us just started this week, so welcome if you want to join us! I just did W1D3, feeling stronger already! I did almost 8 (modified) push ups in the last set--the last one was pretty weak... but I'm definitely less sore than I was…

Jan, good luck Saturday! I'm sure you won't melt if it's raining (unless there's something we don't know about you...). And m2kjenn, good job on getting out there--I was actually thinking last week when it was colder than it had been, that I like wearing my colder weather running gear--makes me feel like more of a real…

Hmmm... my toes really only itch during my run, not at other times. But it probably is related to sweaty feet--I probably should try some new socks. If that doesn't work though, I'll try the vinegar! Thanks!

I second the yaktrax recommendation--I wore them running last winter when I lived in Idaho where there's not a lot of shoveling/plowing that gets done. You still have to be careful (I had a pretty good wipeout one day on skating-rink quality ice crossing a road), but they help a LOT. And they're really stretchy--I have one…

Just did W1D2, modified push-ups. So far so good. I hope I'm a little less sore tomorrow than I was yesterday! Mamacindy, if you're aiming for a 5k, I highly recommend the Couch to 5k training program (google it). Much like the 100 push ups, you can start from nothing and work up. Katie, good for you, doing the push-ups,…

http://hundredpushups.com/index.html It's a 3-day-a-week program to get you to be able to do 100 push ups at a time. We're just starting out--welcome! I still have to do W1D2 today. Still feeling sore from Monday! In a good way.

How about, when your run gets rained out you know you'll get out there and do it again another day, instead of giving up? Today I went just over 3 miles, and felt like I was running through glue the whole time. :grumble: I think it was a combination of not enough lunch and being over dressed for the weather. Welcome…

Hi there push-up buddies! I'd just like to say that I'm pathetic. I didn't actually do the test this time, since I've started this before--just assumed I'd be starting where I was before, being able to do about 2 push-ups. Well, it seems now that I can barely even do 2 MODIFIED push-ups. :embarassed: But I just did W1D1,…

I'm getting excited! Did I miss the link on Friday? Just to put it out there, I'm starting at the bottom... can barely do two push ups right now, so I'll be starting on column 1 tomorrow!

Maybe so! Thanks! :flowerforyou:

When you feel like one? I don't know. I've been running 3-4 miles several times a week for nearly a year, and I still have a hard time calling myself a runner. 3.8 miles this morning for me--I thought it was 4, so I was a little bummed when I got home and mapped the route. But I am loving the cooler, fall weather--great…

I had a c-section 4 1/2 years ago, and the incision looks great--you can hardly even see it. But my belly just below my belly button is a different story. Super wrinkly and flabby (I've lost about 30 lbs since my second son was born in June of '07). I still have a few pounds to lose, but I'm sure the stretched-out skin…

Couch to 5k!!! As soon as I started doing it, I started losing more weight. And it was a super-easy way to start. Although it's been about a year since I finished, and I now have to run 3-4 miles 2-3 times/week to really get the benefits. It's probably my metabolism slowing with age, but I've noticed that just cutting back…

http://www.usatf.org/routes/ Same idea as mapmyrun.com, but you can also look at other people's routes in your area (maybe you can on mapmyrun also, I haven't used that)--helpful if you're new somewhere or tired of your regular routine.

Way to go!

Try checking active.com for races in your area.

Just got back from my run--went 3.8 miles, and the cold and rain that made it so hard to take off my wool sweater and leave the house turned out to be the perfect running weather. I felt like I could have run forever today. Just another example of how getting started can be the hardest part!

Cold, rainy day here... but just thought I'd post my intention to go out for a run when my husband gets home in a little bit, so there's someone (other than me) expecting me to do it! I'll report back...

Monday sounds good to me. Gives me a little time to get myself psyched up for it:tongue:

Hi there, I definitely fit into this category--I've been running 3-4 miles for almost a year now, and I can't seem to get past that. I'd kinda like to sign up for a 1/2 marathon, but I'm too chicken so far. Thinking maybe I should try a 10k first... I just moved from Idaho to Illinois this summer, and kind of slacked off…

I have an old-fashioned non-digital scale that I think was about $20 at Target. It's usually a little lower than the doctor's office scale, but it does give me consistent readings. I don't know that it's entirely accurate, but it does tell me if I'm gaining or losing. And really, a pound our two off what my 'real' weight…

I'm in! I've started before also and not finished, so I'd love to have some buddies for it.

Hi there, I'd love to do the OHR with you--did C25K last fall, and was running quite a bit over the winter/spring, but slacked off over the summer. I need a new goal!

I won't use hormone-based birth control anymore. It give me yeast infections and makes me gain weight. I had an IUD in between pregnancies, and I had very heavy periods with it, with lots of cramping. I highly recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." If you're regular, it's pretty easy to figure out when…

I was once passed in a 5k by a man with two artificial legs... I was both humbled and inspired by him.

I'm 5'8", and my goal weight is 160--before children, that was the weight that my body was most comfortable at, the easiest for me to maintain and I was happy with my size. I have a big frame, and below 150 I look really, really skinny and I have to starve myself to maintain that. Pre-kids, when I weighed a little over…

One of the best investments I ever made was a jogging stroller. It's MUCH easier to push on trails and where there are no sidewalks. I breastfed both my boys until 13 months, and I lost about 10 pounds pretty easily after weaning each of them. The way I looked at it was that I was doing something really good for them, and…
