I have a Ozeri 4x Razor, less than $30 on Amazon. It doesn't link to anything so I manually enter the time into my MFP exercise log. I like checking the numbers on its screen throughout the day. FYI-when you forget to remove this pedometer from your shirt and it goes through the wash, a bowl of rice and a new battery does…

The forums were the main reason I switched to MFP. I like to read them for encouragement and ideas but many WW on-line members are confrontational, especially to those who don't have thousands of posts. Much better atmosphere here on MFP. Thanks, everyone!

For me it's BBC cricket scores.

Have you been to the doctor for a physical since your weight loss started? I bet he/she would have a lot of positive feedback for you on the benefits to your health of your amazing progress. Your dad would be proud of you for sharing yourself on this forum.

Part of the mental process of a weight loss is having a true image of your body. It helps me to try on a smaller size every few weeks, even if I don't buy anything. After years of trying on clothes while not looking in the dressing room mirror, seeing the positive changes in that reflection makes it real for me. Any…

I agree with the recommendation for the Beck Diet Solution. So many diet books are full of anecdotes that are clearly the author's fantasy of an magical diet. Beck combines anecdotes with an explanation of the psychology of self-delusion and exercises to change cognition. The exercises may seem hoky, but are worth the time…

I use her videos when it's too hot (above 90) or too cold (below 30) to walk outside. I have a low tolerance for boredom, so I play her on the laptop at low, music-only volume and watch something else on TV. After one or two run-throughs, you can track her out of the corner of your eye.

To some people of her generation, weight loss equals illness. She may truly be concerned that you and your DH are not well. I would try reassuring her that both of you are happy and healthy. Or she may be a jealous old biddy, in which case, laugh and change the subject.

If you're not sure if you're hitting your calorie target, start tracking. The weight loss will slow down and, when it does, you'll be glad you have the tracking habit and the MFP feedback. Some will tell you the first big loss is "only" water. Well, isn't it nice to not be carrying around 20 pounds of water? I'll bet you…

I buy clothes a size smaller all the time, mainly because I shop at TJ Maxx and if I see something I like, I'd better buy it. I've gained and lost weight enough to know where the inches will come off and can predict what will fit at n minus x pounds. It's good for me to have smaller clothes in the closet because, you know…

Thank you for your post. I was whining over just a half pound loss this week, then remembered the big plate of Huhot vegetables with soy sauce yesterday.

Clear fluids; i.e. jello, broth, ginger ale. Easier to digest, easier for your stomach to reject if necessary. A few bites of dry toast or plain crackers when you get hungry for something solid.

Don't waste your money or attention. Just smile and nod and keep exercising and eating healthy.

I would have an issue going to any workplace as a customer, client, patient, etc. and seeing staff barefoot. It is unprofessional, unsafe and unsanitary. I sometimes slip my shoes off under my desk but would never leave the desk area without shoes. If you're completely out of the public eye, work in a place where the floor…

After 3 months of WW and MFP, my blood sugar readings are normal! The doc said I can stop the at-home blood sugar testing and just come in for labs every 6 months. If I'm this much healthier after a 10% loss, I'll be Wonder Woman when I lose the rest. Good luck on your test results. I hope your doctor is amazed.

I've done both and prefer MFP. 1. It's free. 2. "Calories" don't require a new language. 3. I can double-check the MFP calorie counter if something seems off. 4. It's free. Both have good message boards, both have users across the whole range of needs and commitment, both emphasize tracking and exercise, both have mobile…

If you buy your dress now, ask the store's seamstress's advice on the ease of alterations for weight loss. Some designs are simple to alter, regardless of where your weight loss occurs; others are a nightmare and will be costly and time-consuming. You can easily spend hundreds of dollars altering a dress.

Being alone is not the worst thing that can happen to you. Living with pain and uncertainty, being subject to a jerk's whims and moods is far worse. A "Sex In The City" storyline about break-ups had an observation from Charlotte that it takes half as long to get over a relationship as the time the relationship lasted; i.e.…

Hooray for you!! You should be very proud of your accomplishments. Isn't it great when you get that baggy feeling and have to go shopping for a smaller size?

On my doc's advice, I take ibuprofen with a full glass of water at the first sign of a headache. One day, I realized I'd drunk the water but forgotten to take the pills but my headache was still gone. Who knows if it was dehydration or the placebo effect. Now I always try a big drink of water first and most of the time,…

Also, if a WW meeting leader pressures you to buy their products, find another meeting.

There are three ways to do WW. The full membership includes meetings, as many as you want to attend, and the on-line tools. The meetings are not "accountability sessions", but a combination of education and support. Most members weigh-in before the meeting, but weights are kept private. The on-line membership is the…

People in helping professions are often overweight. It's a particular kind of stress, taking on the problems of others in addition to your own. You might ask your HR department if your employer offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), usually 3 free counseling sessions to help you manage your stress. If not, check with…

The only thing that works for me is to throw leftovers in the trash immediately then take the trash outside to the dumpster. Once I've redefined it in my mind as trash, not food, I can forget about it. It's easier for me to do this in the morning when my willpower is stronger.
