I was in a relationship like this once too. I also doubted my own opinion and didn't get a lot of support from my family. I won't bore you with the details, but the main thing is, it only got worse and there were clear flags the emotional abuse would escalate into physical abuse. If you can't even have a simple discussion…

It sounds like you had a lot of crap happen to you and you deserve a good venting! Having been in a bad spot myself for years and years though and having overcome it, I have to tell you that life doesn't suck. It does get better. You've already made it this far on your own and that's awesome. Winston Churchill had a saying…

I was bullied too, but not because I was overweight. It went from light in the early years, to intense through Grades 4 to 8, then I got insider bullying from Grade 9 to 11 (insider bullying is when your "friends" start to belittle you to make themselves feel better about their own insecurities). I had issues. I didn't…

Lots of layers! On top - thin long-sleeved T-shirt - regular T-shirt - long-sleeved turtle-neck T-shirt - long-sleeved knitted sweater/jumper On bottom - knee-length pleated skirt - two pairs of socks, one knee-high, one ankle-high - leggings (footless tights) - leg warmers (pushed down around my ankles for inside, but…

No problem. I forgot about kiwis. If you like savory, you can make kiwis into a salsa that pairs well with steak. Cut up the kiwis, add a dash of soy sauce (Japanese soy sauce is less salty, but if you already have regular soy sauce at your house you could dilute with water) and lemon or lime juice and a sprinkle of chili…

Maybe I wouldn't use all of the fruit for this, but you could make a quick fruit salad by chopping one of each of the fruit up and adding a dash of lemon juice, orange juice, a bit of sugar water or maple syrup or all four. I think it would taste best if left to sit for a few hours before serving so the flavours mellow and…

I don't think it's bad at all! I often exercise at night, especially after I finish recording all my food for the day on MFP and realise I'm over my calories. LOL. I've even been known to go for a jog at 11pm. As long as you have time to warm down your muscles a bit after your exercise - no worries!

Having experienced down to -40C with a windchill that made it feel like -70C, I can't complain much about -6C weather and no snow. weeeeee!

Hi MrsNoir, I think it is up to you. I'm also 1.63cm and I started at 59kg. I'm now 55kg and still not happy. I wear all my weight on my legs though. I think you are more balanced than me. You asked if you looked anorexic and I would say no, but that's just my opinion. I think you look healthy. Whether you need to lose…

Clothing manufacturer's often change the way they size things to reflect new trends. With jeans, the top band will be measured in inches, so if they are meant to be hip huggers, then you'll have to measure your hips and if they are meant to fit on the waist, then you have to measure your waist. It depends on the type of…

I agree I've noticed a trend in "vanity sizing". I've also noticed food portions growing bigger at restaurants etc. What really clinches it for me though is people's reactions when coming to visit me in Japan however. They all mention how incredibly skinny the Japanese are. Of course there are some super skinny people in…

This actually sounds quite delicious! Must try it sometime. I always have lemon juice in my fridge and a pepper grinder around too, so this would be an easy snack on days where I forgot to do some grocery shopping. All these are ideas are fantastic. (^_^)

For some reason this whole posts makes me picture working out to Weird Al's "I'm Fat" based on Michael Jackson's "I'm Bad." I think I just might go find that song and dance around my living room to it. (^_^) Somewhat off-topic, but did anyone else think of this immediately too?

Different strokes for different folks, not just with eating, but anything else. You can't understand it because you're standing at the north pole while they're standing at the south, so there's no direct line of sight. Congrats on trying to change your perspective by inquiring though! Here's some thoughts: Some people…

I didn't realise it was a variation of konnyaku, but it makes sense now. I did find it had a bit of a smell when I first opened the package, (not terrible though) but once added to the soup, the smell was completely nullified by the smell from the other ingredients. I think I'd like to try it cold sometime with the tsuyu…

I think that's an excellent idea. Just a few things here and there can really add up, especially for toning your muscles. You can find ways to make every movement you make a little bit harder than it has to be to make it into a strength exercise instead. For example, as you lie back in bed at the end of the day, keep your…

Congrats on Day 1 complete! I'm rooting for you on Day 2 also! And Day 3, 4, 5, etc.!

Congrats on deciding to follow a healthier path! I have a few suggestions for avoiding the munchies: 1) Tell yourself you can eat that snack only after you've exercised the same number of calories. Do the exercise, then have the snack (if you still want it). 2) Have a drink of water or diluted fruit juice or weak tea.…

woohoo! Awesome NSV! I think 70 means the number of centimetres around the waist (or hip if they are hip huggers), but I'm not sure.

I've never bought anything on purpose that didn't fit, but a couple of times I've bought pants that seemed fine in the store, but once I got them home I didn't have the courage to wear them in public because they were so much tighter than I realised! They've become my dream pants. Currently, I have one pair waiting. The…

Oh, I'm glad you mentioned you were a vegetarian because I've been thinking of adding some recipes and now I know I should include non-meat options. Do you eat fish? Maybe that seems like a stupid question, but some people don't consider fish to be a meat... I'll look out for non-meat protein sources as inspiration for…

I definitely get tired of the how can you not be so close to your family crap, but in my case, it comes from my own family! My sister and I have very little in common, we know this and accept this and rely on each other when necessary, but neither she nor I see the point in seeing/talking to each other on a regular basis.…

Sounds awesome = I'll check it out!

Oh, I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience! I hope this next one is different!

Jealously, which is a by-product of low self-esteem/lack of self-confidence. Perhaps your cousin-in-law thinks of you as wonderful and successful and wishes she could be like you. Compliment her and make her feel special, point out her good points when possible and likely she will feel less need to compare herself to you.…

oooh... I have some leftover cream cheese that I've been wondering what to do with. I love the idea that these are single serving size. I don't want to eat it myself, but if I make lots of these strawberries and bring them into the office, I'll get brownie points as well as getting rid of something tempting in my fridge!…

It could also be that sensation (feeling) is returning to your lungs after years of being numb. Try wearing a scarf on cooler days and congrats on quitting smoking! Good luck!

Glad I could be of service! (^_^) Good luck in March!

I was recently reading that it's better to take individual vitamins that match what your body needs than a multivitamin. Your doc can do a vitamin blood test and let you know if you are missing anything or low on anything. Some vitamins build up in your system and not everyone needs them. Some vitamins can actually cause…
