At home workouts are all I do, no gym for me 1) can't afford it, 2) no time for it I have a total gym, do Billy Blanks DVDs, elliptical, run/walk outside, bike outside, and play tennis on our local court in our housing development. Although lately too hot for tennis, triple digits make it too difficult. I am going to be…

I BUY in bulk, but don't EAT in bulk. I have 1 child that has learned self control through educating on portions, nutrition facts, etc and he has thinned right out (more than me... high metabolism youngens, lol) and he is now 18 and thankful for me teaching him. I have a 13 yr old who is going to have a battle, but is…

I typically spend $75/week and I am feeding a family of 5 :) This also includes personal items and household. Here is how I do it. Coupons both online and in flyers, if a store has a coupon and the manufacturer has a coupon, you can double them up. I use the extra (I get a ton of things for free this way when they are…

abide - Yes, HRM is the best investment I have made. I have a PolarFT60 and love it OP - I stop mine after workout is done (cool down stretches). I figure the rest is just a bonus

I am in your place. I am a smoker and my plan is to quit when I hit goal weight (down 53lbs and have 32 to go)... I just started college full time, while working full time, and have 3 kids... so plate was full and wasn't doing the smoking thing at the same time (no sense to set myself up for failure). I have other…

There is a big difference in those pictures... use those with your chant when things get tough and you will know it's worth it... YOU are worth it! Certainly not alone, we are all on this path together :) Add me if you like and know that I wish you much luck and encouragement on the changes you have made! Amazing progress!

Ok, story-sharing time. I took my oldest daughter to her pediatrician out of concern for her. She was having pains (before we knew about her severe RA) and she was struggling with anorexia and I was needing someone else to tell her how bad it could be. She was 5'1" and had gone down to 71lbs! Nothing but bone with skin…

Bring on the ta-tas!!!! I love boobs :) I will also put in a disclaimer: This advise should not be taken when going to workplace, church, teaching Sunday School, or chaparoning a field trip for your 8th grade son's class :) Any other time, I believe the girls need freedom, air, and to hold themselves high with pride and…

I was so happy to hear your doctor directed you here as it is a healthy way to take off the weight. You have to want to do it though and you will find a lot of encouragement here :) Great group of folks use MFP!! It has been terribly hot here in AZ, this is our season for sure, but having the pool will be a God-send for…

Nice to meet you! Great goals and nice progress so far! I have taken off 53 and still have almost 40 left to go before I will be happy. I walk/run/Tae Bo/Bootcamp/tennis/biking/elliptical/strength training/swimming/etc for my fitness end. Wish you the best of luck and feel free to add if you like :)

To OP: Did you do the fit test? Keep with it, go as you can...the next time the fit test comes around you will see different numbers. You will hear Shaun T tell you to give it 100% and dig deeper a lot... if you are giving 100% then you are going to find improvement. Now, if you don't want to stick with it, then definitely…

"I don't know" and "whatever" are NOT answers! Remember my parents saying this to me and thinking, but it IS my answer...and swore I never would say it... but now... 3 teenagers later... I say it all the dang time! LOL!

The shot had me up a few pounds, didn't have that with the pill. When I stopped the pill, it was because I found out I was pregnant... so really hard to tell a difference on weight since I wasn't sure what was causing anything at that point. LOL!

You can fit it in, promise... it's a matter of drive and desire though. I have 3 kids (2 disabled that require a LOT of appointments), I am in college full time and work full time (takes me from house 12hrs/day) and still manage to find time to exercise. I give up sleep sometimes to do it, but it releases the stress from…

If you are looking for just basic caloric tracking and heart rate during workouts, I would recommend the Polar FT4. It's the cheapest in the Polar family and has rave reviews for accuracy. I have the Polar FT60 so I had more memory, ability to transition my progress online, and many other features. However, for basic…

I also have Arthritis... Rheumatoid arthritis actually, the juvenile strand and had it since 14. Some things that help me keep going is a topical ointment (prescription) called Pennsaid (anti-inflammatory) that I apply before activity to the affected joints. Also, motrin or Naproxen helps with inflammation (especially…

Great post! As a side note: my oldest daughter was competitively running until her RA made her wheelchair bound (getting knee replacement surgery tomorrow) and my youngest was all sweaty from doing my workout with me tonight. They both are feminine, but have learned it's good to sweat and push yourself too. To me, sports…

Well, let me start by saying that I am doing this for me. However, having my husband do double-takes more than he used to (and yes, he did them before, but I seem to catch his eye more now) is wonderful incentive to push harder. That being said... since I have gotten "hotter" in his eyes, he has just recently started…

This cracked me right up!!!!! Well said :) P.S. If you are ever in a bind, Vodka has less calories, LOL!!! ROFL :)

I log just specific workouts. I do other stuff periodically, and even though it's out of the normal for me, no reason to log it, just enjoy the wiggle room. Spring cleaning, or something like that, where I sweat my butt off and it takes the time away from my workouts...that I will log. Otherwise though, it's just gravy :)

I am so sorry you lost your job, tough times for sure. I do understand not having money for things though - I am the sole income for a family of 5! I do NOT make a lot of money, so everything is done on the cheap. Coupons + sales is how I eat healthy... I have outfitted (SLOWLY) my home to be where I work out, there is no…

Sometimes if you get a taste of certain foods it re-triggers those cravings. Bring yourself back down off them and you will be fine. Sometimes finding a healthy replacement that helps with those cravings helps. Example: my weakness is sweet carbs (big time drug for me). Strawberries and blueberries in Dream Whip (made from…

^^^ Here you go - WAY better than how I put it :) And don't say you are being stupid..when you are learning this stuff it can get confusing :)

Those are the calories remaining. If it's in the negative, you are done. Exercise more and gain more calories to be able to consume. Just like a paycheck, you start with a gross amount, then things are taken out...what you have left is your net - same concept.

What freaked me out a bit wasn't just knowing the new vocabulary, but have found myself utilizing it in conversations :O What?? Seriously

During the weekday I suck up the a/c at work, in the evening we swim and of course have our a/c and fans all going. Then on the weekends we lounge by the pool, and keep the misters going on the patio :)
