I love wine & usually drink too much of it when I have it. I log it just like food. Although I have pledged not to drink any of it before I run a marathon in November. It's gonna be a longggg 22 days!

Running outside is so much more enjoyable! Don't worry about other people seeing you. For one thing, more than likely they'll be impressed that you are running rather than thinking anything negative. Just focus on your run & the scenery & have fun! By the way, I find outside running to be easier because you don't have to…

You'll do great! Only positive thoughts!! Visualize yourself finishing that race & don't stress over what could go wrong. If it was easy everybody would do it! You are awesome! Go get 'em!

I have read that running on the treadmill is not the same effort as running outside. You probably just worked those muscles harder than you're used to.
-
You can walk/run it or even just walk it. I promise you won't look bad! The running community is usually very encouraging & most people love to see people out doing their first 5k! Good luck & just have fun!

Not good at math at all, so I use this pace calculator http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/pacecalculator/1,7823,s6-238-277-398-0,00.html

Running! Especially racing & training for a race. I really enjoy my time at the gym too (strength training & the eliptical mainly)

The last time I ran in the rain I ruined my mp3 player & my footpod. I hate the treadmill, but I know I'll be doing it alot this winter. I'm a wimp in the cold! lol!

Exactly! And I always stretch before I run, but I do dynamic stretches before & save the static stretches (where you hold a pose for 20-30 seconds) for after I run. Here is a link to the dynamic routine I use. I think it really helps. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/1,7120,s6-241-287--13442-0,00.html

I know alot of people swear by c25k, so I know it must be a good program, but I myself never used it. I started walking everyday until I felt like I wanted to try to run a little bit. I would pick a target ahead of me, run to it, then start walking again. Every day the target was a little farther away. I started doing that…

My son & I are doing the Vampire Run 5k in Fort Worth on 10/29. This will be the first time I've ever run in costume. Should be interesting!

yum!

Are you doing San Antonio?
-
check out www.marathontraining.com. That's the training schedule I followed last year for my first marathon & I'm using it again this year. It has alot of good information too. Good luck!

If you want to shoot for a specific time, here is a link to a race calculator where you can plug in your 5k time & it estimates your time for other races. (but I still say just enjoy your first half! ) http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/trainingcalculator/0,7169,s6-238-277-279-0,00.html

Don't worry about your time for your first half marathon. Just set your goal to FINISH (with a smile on your face). You have an automatic PR because it's your first. I don't know that there is an "average" time to finish. Some people are really fast, some people are slower. Just have a good time. You only get to run your…

Hey all my wonderful friends! I did it! Just like you all told me I could! I placed FIRST in my age group. I actually pulled off a 6:56 pace! I've never done that in my life! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your kind words.

I know you've heard it before, but find something you like. And you may have to try alot of different things, & you may have to force yourself to do it for a little while until it clicks with you. I never in my life worked out regularly for more than a month or two at a time until I started running. Not just running, but…

How about "never take the closest parking space"?

My husband is a big guy. His user name is simba0915. He doesn't get on here very much, though. Maybe if he had some friends on here like him he would

I feel your pain! I have to run early because my husband gets home too late from work to stay with my kids in the evening, so my only option is morning. I have to go before the sun comes up to get in my mileage before work. I wear a flashing read light on my arm & stay pretty much in my neighborhood. I know it's not the…

Applebee's, Chili's, BJ's Brewhouse. If you know where you are going, look up the nutrition information online before you go. Also, MFP has alot of stuff already entered that you can search for. One thing that surprised me was the salad at Olive Garden. SO FATTENING! Be sure to check stuff like that too.
-
You look great! Good luck on your race! Have fun!
-
Give yourself permission to eat the good stuff, but small amounts. Also, get a good work out in before you go. Maybe your goal for that day could be "not gain" instead of "lose". & bring your favorite healthy dish. Good luck! You can do it!

You can do it! Have fun!

Sounds yummy! Thanks for posting!

Thanks everybody! That's just what I needed! I WILL DO THIS!

Hi Luan! Nice to meet you! I'd love to be your friend!

I usually bring a healthy choice or weight watchers frozen dinner & an apple. Quick & cheap & not too many calories.

I've never done a triathalon, but I've done a marathon and I honestly believe you can do anything you want to do, it just depends on how bad you want it. 9 months is plenty of time to train as long as you are consistant with it. Racing is great motivation for me. I think I would have stopped working out a long time ago if…
