I totally do this too! I have a hard time stomaching most things for at least a few hours so I often do these as a carb source post workout, and many are totally Paleo, espcially the organic kind. My fav brand is Ella's either blueberry/banana or sweet potato/apple.

Gloves actually make my hands tear more for pullups or T2B, I think because its another layer that's rubbing against my skin causing my hands to rip because the moisture gets in there when you start sweating, whereas just using chalk keeps your bare hands dry. I would suggest working on your grip strength either practice…

I totally agree with the negatives. The same thing works for ring dips. Also to add on for pull ups, once you can do a few unassisted do not go back to the band for the workouts. Instead work with your coach to scale the reps so you are getting the full benefits. Last year I had just got pull ups before doing Cindy and I…

Today was 2X400M time trial rest 4 min b/w runs Metcon: 45 T2B buy in then 3 rounds of 15 deadlifts (225/163#) 15 backsquats (225/163#) ***the catch...all weights must come from the floor, so you are basically limited by your hang power clean ability because you have to get it on to your back :) I did 123# for DL/BS and…

We did it with air squats as a warmup for cleans yesterday. I really wanna try it with the RX weight just to see if I can make it through. I've also heard of people doing this with pushups, i think holding the bottom of a pushup would be way worse than a squat.

I just sautee/roast all my veggies in coconut oil and that helps add calories and makes me feel full,

I’ve never done hydrostatic, but I recently did a bod pod (where you sit in a pressurized chamber) and they give you the same basic information. I think hydrostatic may have a slightly lower margin of error, as long as you expel air properly. I was at 22% body fat with a RMR around 1500 and was told I could eat up to 3000…

Agree with everyone who says weight has nothing to do with it. I currently am 5’7’’,148 lbs, and 20% body fat (via bodpod test). My four upper abs show, my lower two do not. I need to be around 18% for them to show. For reference I weighed 127 lbs in college running marathons and none of my abs showed because of what I ate…

This article sums up what crossfit is really about and was written in response to the rhabdo article that came out. Pretty cool story http://www.competeeveryday.com/2013/09/crossfitters-eat-young-time/

At our box these are one of the modifications for HSPU for those who can't quite do them yet. The HSPU reps are scaled though for wall walks, so 21-15-9 HSPU would become like 12-9-6 wall walks. In my opinion they are much harder and more taxing on my shoulders and I'd rather suffer through the 45 HSPU's :)

I 100% agree with this, 95% of people are collasped on the floor at the end of every workout guy or girl. The women at my box are usually pushing those who are scaling too much to try more. Obviously never to the point of what would cause injury but I think we sometimes underestimate what we are capable of. The guys at my…

We are at the end of a strength cycle so this week is testing week. Today was crossfit total, I've been in a PR drought on these 3 lifts so today was a good day! Backsquat- 188# (bailed on 193#, but should've had it I just got nervous, still a 10# PR) Strict Press- 98# (5# PR) Deadlift-253# (10# PR) Total-539

I love eat to perform. I am a member of their science lab forums which gives you all the materials and access to their forums as well where Paul, the guy who started it, will answer questions and such. I think it's like 4.95 a month for access to everything, but totally worth it in my opinion. I was paleo for awhile after…

Have you done the Whole30 program, if not I highly highly recommend it. You go cold turkey for 30 days and then you can start reintroducing non paleo foods to see how it affects you. I would say I am about 80% paleo right now, but try and do a whole30 at least twice a year to keep myself in check. Google Whole9 and you…

I use beyondthewhiteboard. It's both an app and a site. You can either log your wods yourself or many gyms like mine post there's to that site every day so I am able to log whatever my box is doing that day. Through my gym it was free as a part of our membership.

Today's metcon kicked my butt and tore apart my hands :) Strength- Sots press (press behind head w/ snatch grip while balacing in the bottom of squat) 2-2-2-2-2 -I did 33-33-38-43-43, it was a humbling reminder to spend more time on shoulder mobility WOD: 20 Hang power cleans (135/95) 30 Kettle bell swings (72/53) 40 box…

I’m 5’7’’ about 20% body fat and 145 lbs last time I checked, the scale and I have broken up I crossfit 5 times per week, run 3 times per week, and walk 30-60 min a day with my dog. I eat 2200-2500 (sometimes more) calories a day and have been pretty consistently this weight for about a year but have been losing body fat…

@ Cmay- Yeah I totally get that occasion where life gets in the way and you have to rush out to another committment. I was referring to the other scenario when people put their stuff away and literally just stand there not encouraging the people still working :)

Today’s workout was Strict Press: 2-2-1-1-1 I did 73-78-83-88-93, 93 is a PR which I’m super pumped about because I’ve probably missed it at least 5 times! For time: 400 M Farmer Carry (40# dumbbells in each hand) 30 HSPU (scaled to using two ab mats) 200 M Run 30 HSPU 400 M Farmer Carry (40# dumbbells in each hand)…

At my gym we kind of just put it all away together. People stacking bumpers or wiping bars is not uncommon no matter whose they are, I think it's really nice and is just one more aspect of the awesome community. The only thing I think is a huge no no is putting your equipment away before everyone is done, in my opinion…

I love Andrea Ager's blog. She's one of my favorite crossfit athletes! http://www.theandreaager.com/

Today we redid the open wod 13.4. Open WOD 13.4 AMRAP – 7 Minutes 3 Clean and Jerk 3 TTB 6 Clean and Jerk 6 TTB 9 Clean and Jerk 9 TTB … and so on and so forth until time elapses. (135/95) I was expecting to do worse since I was at a wedding all weekend and basically feel like I'm in a fog from all the crap I ate and not…

Crossfit emphasizes constantly varied, functional movement performed at a high intensity. We lift weights (squat, deadlift, press, clean & jerk, snatch), cardio (run & rowing), gymnastics skills (handstands, ring work, pullups, muscle ups) and do other bootcamp type stuff like kettlebells, box jumps, flipping tires etc.…

Yesterday’s workout was deceivingly awful for 6 min of total work in the metcon. Strength: 5X3 Back squats (5 sets a 153#) First time using my new oly shoes, definitely helped me feel more stable WOD: AMRAP 1 min on/ 1 min off for 12 min 9 deadlifts 6 hang power cleans 3 push jerks I used 93#, RX was 103# in hindsight I…

Guilty member of the tiny short club here, at least in the summer. I wear the Nike pro combat or lululemon speed shorts and usually a lulu tank or some type of racerback tank. I was a lululemon addict before I started crossfit 1.5 yrs ago and it's only gotten worse. In the winter I usually wear lulu capri tights or long…

I've been crossfitting almost 18 months, and even now as soon as the coach turns on the clock and I hear the beeps counting down from 10 secs I still get that anxious feeling. When I started one of the most experienced members (who competed at regionals) came up to me and reassured me that everyone was in the same boat…

5 times per week. 3 on 1 off, 2 on 1 off. I also run at least 3 times per week 3-5 miles at a time, so two of my days are doubles. I always take at least one rest day per week where the most I do is walk my dog. I started with 3 times per week did that for about 6 months, than went to 4 times a week for 6 months, and then…

Finally broke 100 on my power snatch! Today I did 103# which is a 10# PR for me. It was a little ugly but it went up and that's what counts :)
