I had the same problem when I was married a few years ago. I had my dress converted to a corset back so it could be laced up, and I'm so glad I did - way more comfortable and it fit like a glove that day. Since your dress is already a corset back, I wouldn't stress too much. A good seamstress will be able to extend or…

Make sure your Fitbit and MFP accounts are set to the same timezone. When I started MFP for some reason was set to Pacific time, instead of Eastern time where I live. It was causing the same disappearing net calories you mentioned. I have 'this problem since then. I also think it takes the Fitbit a couple of weeks to…

My downfall has always been sweets. Most recently before MFP I was constantly craving Kozy Shack Rice Pudding. Which isn't too bad for you in one serving. But I'd eat the entire container. And I'd do this probably twice a week... 650 calories per container and 75 grams of sugar. Oh Em Gee!

Just tagging this to watch later. Sounds interesting.

NSV = Non-Scale Victory I have one for today. When I started working out a couple of weeks ago I could barely do a push-up, not even the cheating from your knees kind. Today I noticed I can do them fairly easily. They are still the cheating from your knees kind, but I'm still proud. Might be time to graduate to proper…

I'm also 5'4" and I have set my starting goal at 160lbs, which is the smallest I've been in my adult life. When I get there I will re-evaluate but I ultimately would like to be at 145lbs which takes me out of the "overweight" BMI. I started at more than 210, so that's 65ish pounds all together. Feel free to add me, I'm…

Thanks for sharing. I'm just starting out, and am in the push-ups on the wall stage now... I'm inspired by what you've achieved.

Mine is usually at least 400 calories or so (1,700 calorie per day goal). I also always snack at work at about 10 am or so (usually a yogurt or small piece of fruit). I've always been more of a morning eater than an evening eater. Breakfast is easy for me to go way over on calories (I love cereal and really have to watch…

This post made me giggle. And I might add I'm super jealous. I cannot wait until my CSA starts up next week - it includes yummy fresh free range eggs.

I've discovered frozen mangos slices, which when eating just one portion aren't too terrible for you in terms of sugar content. If I get a hankering at night for something sweet I thaw out a portion and eat them with a little cottage cheese and cinnamon.

I just found this thread and love it! I'm adding one for myself. Just for today, I will take a break this afternoon to take a walk outside and enjoy the sunshine.

I haven't been logging this things, unless seasonings are part of a recipe that I'm putting into the recipe builder. But I'm also just starting out and am loosing easily for now. I think if I get to a place where I'm plateauing or something I'll start to pay attention more closely to these things so I can refine intake vs…

Maybe try just making one change at a time. It sounds like you're already off to a great start. Counting up the calories you are eating now will give you a good idea where you can make improvements. i.e. instead of making a different meal for you, could you eat a smaller portion of what your family is eating and add a…

I have my first NSV. I purchased a new bra a couple of months ago, before starting on MFP, and had worn it to work. It was so uncomfortable around the band because it was just a little bit too snug, even though the "size" was "correct." Today, after one month on MFP, I dug it out of my drawer and put it on. It fits and is…

For me it was looking back through old pictures. I was scrolling back through old Facebook pictures, and there are some there from about 6-7 years ago when I last successfully lost some weight. I was easily 40lbs lighter than I am now. I did a little side-by-side comparison of then versus now and was shocked at the…

I've tried WW twice. Both times, I lost a little bit of weight at the beginning (maybe 10-15 lbs), but then as I would loose weight and the points would start to get lowered I started to feel hungry all the time. I'm insulin resistant, and I also never felt like my blood sugar was stable. I think I maybe lasted 4 months on…

My weakness has always been sweets and chocolate that people bring into work. I couldn't eat just one cookie or piece of candy. No I would revisit the lunchroom easily 6, 8, 10 times a day to get "just one". I shudder to think about how many extra calories I was eating on days like that.

I was thinking the same thing. We're practically weight loss twins. I'm 35, female, 5'4" and also apple shaped. SW: 212 CW: 204 GW: 160 and I'll re-evaluate I'm also moving mostly by walking with my Fitbit and am just starting to add some strength training at home (planks, push-ups, pilates - whatever I can do in my living…

If you are uninsured, Planned Parenthood, or other similar clinics, will most likely offer you some birth control options for free or very, very low cost. I used them for years when I first got out of college because I was uninsured. Also, you can get the IUD if you haven't have kids. I have one, and I don't have children.…

Are you allowed to take time away from your desk for a break? I set a reminder in my calendar every day to force myself to get up and go outside for a walk. I may only walk for 10 or 15 minutes, but it feel so nice to getup and stretch the legs. This way too I can break up my exercise, and do maybe another 15-20 minutes of…

First thing I did was buy a Fitbit. I was stunned by how little activity I got in a day. Next I started logging for a couple of weeks. Not really trying for a deficit, just logging it and paying attention to portions. Like many, I thought I was a healthy eater too. Until I started measuring. (I seriously was like - what do…

I'm newish here (been around and lurking for about 3 weeks). I've already learned to keep my eye out for threads like this for the funny GIFs. This one did not disappoint.

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing the info about FitnessBlender.com. I've found that variety is good for me, but I don't want to buy tons of workout DVDs. This site looks perfect for some activities I can do at home. Also wanted to add for the OP another vote for walking. It is free, and all you need to do it is a…

Thank you so much for reposting. I'm newer here, with much less to loose than you. Today I was feeling down and not confident that I'll ever succeed, but after reading your amazing story I'm inspired. Thank you!

Just wanted to add that I've dealt with sciatica pain for most of my adult life I always feel best when I do loose some weight. I need to stick to lower impact exercises though. Things such as an elliptical or shorter walks outside. Yoga is great too, as it releases a lot of the lower back tension. I always feel best when…
