  • Tubthumping by Chumbawumba (We'll be singing, when we're winning, we'll be singing) I get knocked, down but I get up again You're never gonna keep me down I get knocked, down but I get up again You're never gonna keep me down I get knocked, down but I get up again You're never gonna keep me down I get knocked, down but I…
  • Monday Checkin- The seven pounds that appeared out of no where last week went back from whence they came! I guess it was water weight from TOM? I still have the twenty I put on while I was away, but I KNOW where that came from! The seven pounds on top of everything really freaked me out. My head is in a "better place" now.…
  • Saturday Success- I ate a protein filled breakfast before going to teach Religious Ed and I did NOT eat any of the donuts or coffee cake offered! I did eat a plate of fruit for a snack when class was over and I was hanging out with other teachers. (I had too many chips with lunch later, but hey, it added fiber! JK)…
  • I'm sorry your sister is going through all that, and the pain that causes you. Thank you for sharing that with us, though.
  • It's in the insert we get with our synthroid. Soy, fiber, calcium, and iron can interfere with absorption of the medication. I still have calcium in my diet, I just take it after about four hours. The same will have to be true of the iron. The thing is, I have been having trouble (though my doctor says it's the low iron,…
  • February Goal-- At least twelve glasses of water daily and more fiber. Mfp suggest 30 for my daily target number. That seems rather high, but I'll try. (I worry about fiber interfering with my synthroid....) The doctor has me on the iron three times a day. That seems like a lot, so I called him and asked him if I'm…
  • I've been wondering.... what is going on with Augie?
  • Not taking your feelings into account and is calling you stupid is the exact opposite of what a relationship is supposed to be. I see now why you want this to end. I still think counseling is a good idea, though. Not to save the relationship, but to give you the tools you need to end the relationship. (Robin's idea of a…
  • Well, I called the doctor again. He is insisting the thyroid levels are fine, and that I need to be on diet pills. I don't want pills. I got sick last time. I don't want to take pills, and see MORE of the doctor to make sure that the pills aren't killing me! He is also putting me on iron pills. He says my iron is low.…
  • @kvandeest I'm sorry that your Grandpa is ill. Years ago, when my mom was in Chronic care and I was working, I pulled out my crock pot and tossed stuff in it for soup or stew in the morning, came home, packaged food, brought it to the hospital (which had no cafeteria, anyway... I'd have had to pick up McDonald's food,…
  • Thursday Truth-- I'm waiting for the doctor to return my phone call with blood work results, and I'm worrying that the thyroid may not be the problem. I remember a couple of years ago he told me to just cut in half all my meals without even ASKING what I was eating or how much. (He also wants me on appetite suppressants,…
  • I had a good day subbing. Tuesday Goal: to get to the bottom of my issue and work it out.
  • If doing everything right assured loss, I'm sure the scale would have gone in the opposite direction for me. I know not everyone has thyroid issues, but everyone on this thread has dealt with fluctuations and stagnations when they were doing everything right on paper. You are in NO WAY a bad example. :noway: If anything,…
  • Sunday Share- I missed Sunday Share. I was thinking about who I was in High School, who I was ten years ago, and even who I was five years ago, and I realized that I'm not who I was. I'm not sure who I am.... An unemployed teacher? The world's worst housewife? (Not the world's worst wife mind you... So long as I laugh at…
  • My house looked nice enough. No one is running out to get my home nominated for any cleaning, organizing, or decorating awards, but my house wasn't an embarrassment either. I don't think anyone called the producers of "Hoarders" or let the former producers of "Dirty Jobs" know that they missed one. Saturday…
  • The great thing about "Thursday Truth" though is that if challenges me to face things I don't want to know about me. Like that I let pride get in my way, even among friends. Now, I'm unsurreptitiously (according to google, that IS correctly spelled, btw.,...) going to follow your advice  ) My back still aches a bit…
  • Thursday Truth-- I avoided coming on this thread all day today because I thought it was Friday, and didn't want to face up to not doing anything for "Friday Fitness" except clean house. (I actually was on my knees scrubbing the kitchen floor today, so I guess that COULD have counted...). It's also reassuring to have…
  • Welcome back luckycharm196! I left for a while, too. I slipped from my goals and was too ashamed.. But this group is very welcoming and encouraging. I wish you lots of success!
  • Tuesday Goal: To have my house in order by Friday evening (the company is Saturday morning, but I want to get bagels and make coffee, etc Saturday morning.) Also, of course, my goal is to keep logging. I wasn't for so long that it isn't routine anymore, This is going to be my January goal so that it will be routine again.
  • Karen is right. We don't have to be" perfect". Aim for "better" not "perfect" . I need to heed that too!
  • I'm so sorry you are going through this! I've been out of work for longer. I took time off to take care of my mom when she was sick, and after she passed (three years ago), I haven't found a permanent position. I do substitute teach, though, so that helps. I hope a position opens up for you were you used to work soon.
  • Check in: I didn't lose anything last week. Not a pound. Nada. Zip. I may have to get my thyroid levels checked again. I'm having other symptoms. (low energy, irregular TOM, etc..) Today I tackle the dining room! Have a great day, all!
  • The Kahe is right. Potassium could be an issue. Also, magnesium. I also read an "old wives tale" once that suggested sleeping with a towel covered bar of soap under the calf would help. I don't really see how, but it couldn't hurt either...
  • I'm a bit over today. I had a shot (couple) of Drambuie. I don't drink often, but with the flu going around, I thought it was important to disinfect my innards. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! Who is Helenatrandom? She is a substitute teacher with a great husband and a sense of humor that frightened her…
  • Saturday Success- I have logged in and been under calorie goal for the last five days. The only exercise I have been doing is house cleaning, but I think that is okay for now. I have company coming over a week from today, and I need for my dining room to look good. It makes me feel good when people come over and I'm not…
  • Thursday Truth- My ticker is wrong. I put on twenty pounds during my haitus, and I can't bring myself to change the starting weight. Facing failure is so hard! Another truth- I've learned from the last few months that I must put my NEEDS ahead of PLEASING anyone else. I NEED to not have sweets and fattening foods in the…
  • Thank you for welcoming me back. Wednesday Wishes: Well, I wish I didn't fall off the wagon in September. I wish getting on the wagon was easier. I wish bagels, waffles, pancakes, and coffee-cakes had the same nutritional value as raw veggies. I wish watching comedies and laughing burned as many calories as the elliptical.…
  • Tuesday goal: to log in every day this week. I know. I'm starting from scratch. I hope the new year is treating you all well!
  • Thursday Truth- I was over calories yesterday by over 200. I'm back on track today, though. I don't regret yesterday, either. Those kolackys were GOOD!
