  • Well done! Yay, you!
  • hahahahaHA CHFay! MFP edited that *for* you? snort-laugh! But yes, I know exactly which chain you are referencing...
  • @rachface: I kind of like it when there’s no other ladies in the weight room. Less competition for the power rack! @hwillmott: I’ve sort of settled into being a regular at my gym and it really does feel awesome to be recognized - staff and other gym clients alike @Fittreelol: I aspire to your amazing stats! @krok: you +…
  • I saw these and tried a pair on yesterday - I am thinking these might do it for me for now. They seem to be generally the same fabric types as my dodgy pair - but the cut and fabric are just different enough I'm not worried about mooning strangers. Also maybe not as hot as some blends that have more cotton? Also the Old…
  • I wasn't very good at, and did not like rows until I discovered that one of my gym locations has bumper plates. That was the break through that I needed since the bumper plates get the bar at the proper height for each rep. I'm still not amazing at these (and I am not consistent about doing them) but it helped a lot. Also,…
  • Hi all quick post and run. On tuesday the 3rd, I had a puny workout - puny because I'd been away about a week and a half and because life is crazy and tiring right now. I was so emotionally spent on this particular day that my body was pretty weak too. Last night got in a much better workout: Squats - various warm ups then…
  • Gosh, what a lovely experience. Thanks for sharing!
  • On the SL website - somewhere Mehdi talks about a stretch he calls shoulder dislocator -- it's NOT a dislocation of your shoulder! You basically hold a broom stick with your hands placed pretty wide apart, keep your arms straight and stretch them from in front of you to behind your back. Wait a sec. Lemme find the…
  • Quick post and run: Today was super duper nice! Squats - 175 5x5 Bench Press - 95 1x5 then 6x4 (I couldn't keep doing 5 reps, so I went for lower reps per set, but still shot for ~25 total reps) Accessory work: Lying Tricep Ext - 40x3x10 DB Bicep Curl - 20x3x10 Cable Crunch - 50x3x10 Back Hyperextensions, weighted -…
  • Changing things up a bit to rest my posterior chain (heh). I feel like squatting and/or deadlifting every workout is not awesome for me. For the next couple of weeks I'll do one or the other but only on every other workout. Last night: Warmed up dynamic stretching and a quick round of accessory lifts at very low weight…
  • I think your condo needs to repair the broken equipment. Leaving a rack that is not in usable condition poses risks for all who use it. That said - if they won't fix it - what is broken? Are you missing brackets or safety bars? If it's something minor, perhaps you can purchase your own replacement part?
  • No -- I'll have to look for this and give it a try!
  • Made it to the gym last night even though what I really wanted was to sip scotch and watch TV. Had a stellar workout on Tuesday and then last night was anti-stellar. Whatevs. At least I showed up. Experimenting with resting myself / not overexercising on squats. So, dabbled with some warm up weights but stayed off any…
  • Wow! This was a great month - lots of new posters. I've been away / only posted once or twice and had a whole detailed post about my killa workout yesterday and then... poof! So - yay April and yay to lots of PRs in May!
  • Jerky and almonds. Ready to drink protein shake (I like EAS Advantedge), leftovers from dinner. Cottage cheese. Apple slices with some nut butter. Coffee with a hearty serving of cream. I'm also not much of a breakfast food person. Lately - I just eat two lunches. I make 10 lunches into little kits every Sunday and if my…
  • Agree with all of the above. I was getting very 'broke down' feeling and was actually having fear going into my work weight squats; I was unhappy. Life has thrown some things at me this month and I'm basically hitting a 2xweek frequency now - also, I deloaded a few weeks ago after coming back from a week of spring break. I…
  • Woweee - I've been out of touch basically this entire month! Lots of nice progress being reported - way to go ladies! Finally back to the gym after spring break and life and etc etc got in the way for a coupla weeks. At the end of March, I'd got my squats up to 160 but was feeling very broke down / posterior chain. So. I'm…
  • Eh. Spring weather and spring break have messed with my workout schedule. Got a mostly not amazing workout at a gym while out of town last week. But - I did do it! Took lots of walks with kids + dog and got home to find no weight gained. So - there's that. Haven't made it back to the gym yet and that's ok. I think I need…
  • Workout yesterday went much better than the others last week. Also, I changed my goals for the workout so i didn't feel so demoralized about the good ol' SL set. Bench: 95x3x5 then 4 then 90x1x5 I'm going to reload to 90 next workout Row: 75x5x5 I complained about these for so long. Tell you what: having standard size…
  • @wolfsbayne: thanks for the encouragement. I think if I were younger and more impulsive I'd give up. But this process so far has taught me that the results *do* come and that it's most certainly NOT linear or predictable.
  • Lousy workout last night. This week has just been off. Funny how I was having a blast earlier this month - enjoying gains, things were feeling good, easy and natural. This week I feel like I was made for watching TV rather than lifting weights. What is up with that?! That said, I'm still dragging my pathetic self to the…
  • Make sure you've upgraded to the newest version. Are you droid or iOS? On iOS to show you didn't get 5 full reps just tap the set field repeatedly - with each tap it'll decrement from 5. For the workout blowing away if you leave the ap - upgrades should fix it. Sometimes if it doesn't bring me back to my current workout if…
  • Last night's workout, after the {LadyDeadlift Warmup} Squat: 160x5x5 THESE. WERE. SO. HARD. Maybe because I did them last instead of first? Also at a different gym location - it felt warm Bench: 95x5x3, then 3 & 3 Row: 75x5x5 * This different location is with the same gym so I'm a member. It's a little bit further from my…
  • Alright, y'all: yesterday's workout. {Lady Deadlift Warmup Disclaimer} Squats: Warm 45, 65, 95, 115, 135 all 1x5 Work 160x5x5 Still a heckuva lotta work, but a bit more manageable. It was bugging me that I scratched these last workout, so this was nice. OHP: Warm 45x1x5 Work 60x5x5 Dead: Warm: 45, 95, 135 all 1x5 Work: 155…
  • Hi - kind of a meh workout. I have slept poorly this week and my last workout was HARD work, so I'm mostly ok with it being not much excitement. {LadyDeadlift warmup disclaimer applies to all the below} Squat 1x5x160 My tailbone area was sore - not the bones, the muscles...? I did two more reps for set 2 and just felt like…
  • I started in December and had a couple of good months of small gains on the big lifts (OHP and Rows are still challenging for me) and then for the entire month of February I felt like I was just lost - no gains, nothing exciting happening - but I was looking better and enjoyed having better every day functional strength so…
  • Nice workout last night. Warmed up, rolled out, warm up sets... yadda yadda yadda... Squats: 160 5x5 These were HARD work, I'll stay at this weight for one more workout. Seriously, never had a lift that left me dripping sweat and not quite seeing straight. The last rep on the last couple sets I went to barely parallel…
  • For me: I've gained a little bit since starting SL, but my figure / clothing sizes haven't changed. I'm actually seeing composition changes in various areas: as a mom of 3, my tummy area has tightened up significantly, my face looks leaner, my legs are showing muscle tone, my husband texts me 'thanks for doing squats'…
  • I rest. When I started SL - I personally feel like progressing through the lower weights were more of a conditioning phase. About three weeks ago I hit what I feel like are more strength training workouts - I'm working very hard on all sets and have general fatigue and mild soreness afterwards. I was tempted to add…
