  • You need to trust in yourself and what you want and ignore any negative comments from her. From what you said she is overweight so she may have issues judging what a normal weight is meant to be. It sounds like you've got your head straight on though. If you get below the normal BMI THEN you need to start listening to…
  • OMG this reminds me of my friend who came to the gym with me a couple of weeks ago. We got on the exercise cycles beside each other and I set hers up for her so she was doing the same program I was doing. We had to get our heart rates up to 130bpm to be in the right zone. Mine slowly went up as usual and I had as usual…
  • My maiden name is a bad suburb in London.
  • Well there are different sorts of sports bras, but if there's no law against it in your state(!) and you feel comfortable then you may as well. Some of the sports bras I own I would feel comfortable running outside in, and some of the other ones look more like traditional bras and I would not be comfortable because I would…
  • I would mainly go with lower impact things until you're lighter. You don't want knee operations down the track. What about longish walks to get your endurance up, then it should be easy for you to make the transistion later on. Running is quite hard on all your joints.
  • The reason I said for her to put sedentary is because the fitbit will quickly compensate for that with any moving around she does. It is meant to calculate true exercise calories done. So even though she isn't sedentary it will work that out. You could play around with putting moderate, but it may put your calories too…
  • Hi, I have a fitbit too. Firstly you need to make sure you don't log your exercise twice. Have you got your fitbit connected to MFP? If so you never have to add any exercise into MFP again - your fitbit will put it in by itself. Use MFP just to put in your food, and don't put your food into the fitbit site as well. Also…
  • I ate two Strawberry frosted poptarts for breakfast today for 410 calories! Yummy but not at all filling like 410 should be!
  • You sweat it out while you sleep :) I weigh every day, but usually I only see the scale move one day during the week. Then it's standing still every day until then again. I'm used to waiting on the same number for 5 days or so.
  • Do a session with the Y's personal trainer and she'll sort out a routine that is properly tailored for you. Otherwise you're just feeling your way in the dark and hoping whatever you choose will work.
  • My goal jeans are loose around my hips. I'll need a belt for them soon. :(
  • I had the same thing a few months ago, where I wondered how to get into running, and I did. I started by getting fit (building the stamina up) by doing lots of two hour or more walks which more often than not involved hill walking. I had been doing this for a year already. Then I kept that up but started the Couch to 5k…
  • OMG I love those! (battered deepfried hotdogs on a stick) I used to get those at the fish and chip shop growing up, but I haven't had one in years. We also have all the other varieties of hot dogs too. In countries that are made up from people from all around the world you get all types of food - everyone wanting their…
  • I live in New Zealand too, and we have everything you have, just sometimes with different brand names. We also have nearly all of your chain fast food places. We're pretty multicultural here - we seem to have all sorts of foods from all around the world both in supermarkets and in resturants and fast food outlets.
  • You're doing well without any surgery. Just don't give up and you'll get there just fine :)
  • My dad is like that too, tells me NOT to run because I'll hurt myself. I did my first 5k a month ago, and sent him the photo by email - lol - he was so furious he sent me back a blank email in reply. Then a couple of weeks ago I did another one and sent him the photo and my new improved faster time. Then I saw him for my…
  • I've never noticed that happening to me. But I don't think anyone is looking at other people anyway - if they're on a machine they're focusing on only one thing - the machine. Don't worry about it, or wear a baggier top I guess.
  • Awesome work! Nice time as well! I'm hoping to do my first one late in the year or next year. I just did my first 8km run 2 days ago, so I'm getting there.
  • I've only ever had two rude reactions when I've been running - nothing that would really be worth putting me off altogether. One was from a man who yelled out 'Guess you have to start somewhere girl' - thought he would have been better keeping his mouth shut - that did not make me feel good when I had previously been in a…
  • Yes, I've got the One, it's tiny and you wear it so the biggest bit is hidden in your pocket. No one has ever noticed it while I've been wearing it unless I've pulled it out to check.
  • Having problems with my Fitbit One. Turns out there is a software bug that emerges in it if you live in New Zealand. So annoying.
  • Wow, the first one looks like your dad, and now you've become the youthful son! Amazing!
  • Swimming is good, and indoor pools are usually heated and warm in winter. There are usually student concession discounts and swimming laps will build all your muscles without putting pressure on any joints. Also try aqua jogging.
  • Security guard
  • My fingers are a bit crooked too athough not really too bad, and I had a friend at primary school who had less crooked fingers than me, and her mother took her to get them broken and reset so they were straight! She was so scared. It still disgusts me that her mother would put her child through that for vanitys sake.
  • Fantastic! Wow it must be popular if they have to ballot for entries! I hope you get drawn :)
  • Yes, keep going! Some weeks I see no change on the scale at all, but when I look at other stuff I quite often find something else that has changed. Just don't give up. Sounds like you built muscle if your cms went down.
