Tonalin is not a fat it's a supplement used to burn fat more effectively in the body and Borage Oil (or Starflower Oil) is also typically used as a GLA supplement too although the body tends to produce it's own GLA. Starflow Oil is also used in foods in certain countries. It's a Mono unsaturated oil too.

This is a huge and often confusing subject unless you pick up a good book to explain the different fat groups but i'll try to point you in the right direction. There are basically 3 types of fat; Saturated, Mono unsaturated and Poly unsaturated. Meat & dairy products contain saturated fats which are generally considered to…

I'm pretty sure that it's playing a major part in the pain from personal experience. These are my suggestions to help deal with the muscle and joint pains from heavy work outs; 1. Try to vary your exercise to different muscle groups. 2. Eat more proteins as it helps to rebuild muscle tissue quicker than other food groups.…

Fantastic job an great motivator to everyone out there who doesn't believe it can happen!

Before I got heavily into dieting and health I read a book by Mark Hyman. M.D. called Ultra Metabolism. It's a fascinating read simply due to the fact that it turns so many preconceived ideas about dieting upside down. I don't want to stray off topic too much but it makes sense to first understand that our bodies have…

I weigh myself daily too and don't believe there is any harm in it if you're tracking the results (through the report function of MPS) over a longer period of time such as a week for example. When weighing yourself daily just remember to be consistent. E.g. Same time, without clothing, after going to the toilet, without…

Your body just needs to get used to doing it every day. It's no different from when you start out running; you may run half a mile and feel you're going to die after but as you condidtion your body to do it more frequently you can increase the distance and speed to a point where it doesn't bother you at all. A good soak in…

Great work, makes you feel so good both mentally and physically when your hard work actually produces visible results. Keep it up!

Hi, not sure if you're talking about fat burners in a natural sense or as supplements but from a natural sense i have a friend who is heavily into body building and he swears that eating some of the following foods have really helped him lean up. Obviously he's eating these along side a weight training programme but i…

If you need some good carbs then you can't beat fruit! A medium banana has 26gsm of carbs and about 107 calories. Apples, mangos, whole grapefruits are also in the higher end of the carbs in fruit list. The other bonus of couse is they are packed with vitamins which your body needs when you're reducing your calorie intake.

Completely agree with Jrich1, outside running is considerably different due to so many factors. I've now run many half marathons and although i vary my training to treadmill and road running i do find that if i run an extra half distance on the treadmill it does go some way to making up for the differences on the road plus…

I've got a slightly different view although i'm pretty tough on myself when it comes to control. I never eat the calories I burn from exercise as it's effectively reducing the impact of my work out. If your goal is weight loss then you'll get there much quicker if you leave yourself with a reasonable gap between your…

My diet Italian choices which you can commonly find on a menu would include (starters); Minestrone soup (all summer vegetables, no creams etc). Mussels with white wine (just make sure they don't make them with cream). Even the ubiquitous Parma ham with melon is better than the fried stuff! With main's it's pretty easy i…

Almonds- typical value of fat in 100gsm. 55.8g (of which saturates 4.4g, mono-unsaturated 38.2g and polyunsaturated 10.5g) But they are great superfood with lots of fantastic nutritional benefits..............Just realised i'm off topic! Eeeek!!

Couple here for you which a friend of mine makes, i personally don't have the time to make them but taste great!...... Almond Oatmeal Breakfast Bars Recipe Ingredients: 1 cup rolled oats (uncooked) 2/3 cup nonfat dry milk 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground…

I can appreciate completely how downheartening this can be to you but like many of the other people posting here have said we need a little more info to make an educated analysis of what some of the fundamental issue may be. Some things which come to mind include; Your age Height/ physical structure What you're actually…

Most of the most work-out schedules i've seen seem to have at least 1 rest days per week but unless you're setting some serious challenges for yourself or you're some kind of top athlete 2 rest days is pretty reasonable. I run 30 miles per week with a rest day on Sunday and Thursday and i still consistently lose weight and…

This is so dependant on how you're losing weight and your own internal chemistry but this is what i've calculated for myself; I'm a guy, 38 yrs old running on average 30 miles a week with a healthy Mediterranean style diet. 25lbs lost equated to 3 inches off my waist and 1.5 inches from my neck. Hope that helps somewhat?

I run about 30 miles a week these days. I find it the best way to lose weight quickly and to be honest i'm quite obsessed with running now to the extent i usually run a half marathon every 3 months. I researched this particular subject in the past and found the best thing to eat while training for the marathon is…

Consider that a huge bonus, will help the pounds fall off even quicker if you manage that more frequently ! Had to laugh when i read that comment, so so true! ;)

Yes alcohol is the monster of all evils when you enjoy socialising! These days i tend to go with soda water and a twist of lime or if i'm feeling paticularly cheeky i'll throw a shot of vodka in there which has about 55 calories per shot. Trick for me is to keep it a long drink so i don't go overboard! Gin is also about 56…

I feel for you completely as it's happened a few times to me in the past. The first thing i can say is you've acknowledged the problem and not let it get out of control, sometimes denial can completely ruin all the hardwork. When it happens to me, what i usually do is put a little plan into place; First thing i do is set a…

I do like the Lipton Ice drinks but they are packed with calories, even the diet ones are about 80 calories. To answer your question the "citrus" is actually citric acid, commonly found in all citrus fruits! Personally i stick to water these days......ZERO calories ;)
