Westvleteren 8, only because the 12 was sold out. Always listed as the best beer (12 that is) and I found out why in a Vancouver Belgian beer pub. It. Was. Amazingly. Balanced. Google it and you'll see why I was SOOOO damned excited when I found at the bar had this delight.

I buy coffee beans from a local roaster so I know it's gonna taste darn good and don't add anything.

Ah, if it wasn't for veggies I'd have a difficult time staying within my calorie range since I'm a volume eater (but then how many aren't on this board?). Plus there is no replacement for the vitamins and minerals you get when you eat whole veggies, no matter what the supplement people like to claim. Have you tried…

Hello Cat and welcome. I agree with Gwen, just start using MFP now to track everything you eat. One reason people think they don't eat enough to be overweight is that they forget what they eat during the day. If you bite it, write it. See where you stand with your current habits then use that information to help guide you…

I don't have official cheat days, but I do allow myself to go over my calorie goals every so often. But I still track.

That truly is the bottom line, it is about health. The body is not made to support too much weight, it will give out in the end. Congrats to you, so amazing what you have accomplished and CONGRATS to making Onederland.

You should be able to find bus and train schedules online Then you can see if they will make reasonable options. Obviously NYC is great, and I had no problem getting around Philadelphia and Boston. San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, are all great options.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up. I would be concerned about the structural integrity of a building that had a floor that would actually MOVE when anyone under 250 lbs was conducting a cardio session. That does not sound right to me (Civil Engineer degree).

Unfortunately motivation is never enough. You have to have commitment as well. If you are committed you will find a way to avoid those temptations, or to make lower cal alternatives. Best thing, don't keep items that are really hard to avoid in your house!!

Oops, my earlier post worked after all.

I'm 50, will be 51 this year, and am averaging a loss of 2.9 lbs/week. My mom has lost 96 lbs and began her journey at age 69. It took her about a year and a half.

I use it for dry pasta so I can cook just what I need. I also use it for sweets like candy, chocolate, cookies, etc. The mass measurement for the serving is more accurate than the volume measurement. I weigh ice cream too since it's a pain to put into a measuring cup. I don't weigh fruit or veggies. But any high calorie…

I'm 5'7" and weigh 242. I wear a size 20 pants for the most part.

I like to buy San Pellegrino at Costco, or some other sparkling water, and add a splash of lime. And kudos for you on logging now and getting a baseline of what your daily eating habits are. That is certainly going to help when you are ready to make those dietary changes!!

Yep, coffee is a bean so that means calories, just not a lot. I usually drink 7 cals worth in the morning. I get mine from local roasters and like the Somalian and Ethiopian beans. We bought ourselves a fancy schmancy espresso maker for Christmas and now I get to enjoy wonderful doppios and cappucinos in the afternoon.…

Welcome, saw in your profile that you are planning on becoming a teacher! I've left that profession and am now going for my doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction hoping to find a life in academia. MFP is working really great for me and the people are wonderful, I've gotten so much support, Read the forums and blogs to find…

Get the box of latex gloves from Home Depot or Lowes. I always use those when dealing with habanero or Hatch chilis. I haven't had problems breathing, but guessing the painting face masks would work for that..
-
You can definitely see a difference, congratulations!! And now you know what to get your boyfriend for Christmas, lol.
-
I'm going to track but I don't care if I go over my calorie goal, red is not gonna bother me Christmas Day or Christmas Eve. However, the thought of my body's reaction will keep me in check. I know too many fatty foods will make me feel like complete crap on the 26tth

I use the elliptical trainer three times a week, an hour at a time. What helps me is doing intervals. I crank the resistance from 4 to 10 and go as fast as I can for 1 minute. I can't go more than the minute and am SO glad when it's over. I started at 30 second intervals 10 minutes apart. Now I'm doing the 1 minute ones 7…

First of all, you are talking about 4 days, just 4 days. Don't let those 4 stress you so much that they ruin the rest of the year. If you have some idea of the kind of food that will be served then plan for it. Enter it in your diary and see what you'll have to do the rest of the day to fit in those foods. Next get in…

It sounds as though if you read my diary you'd think I was doing bad every day, and I think I'm doing darn fine. I have some kind of sweet each evening, I see nothing wrong at all with two cookies. Heck, I sometimes chop up a cookie to put on my frozen custard sundae, all planned and all within my calorie goal. I also have…

I went to your diary to see if I could offer suggestions but noticed you have not tracked anything for over a week. Give that a try again, weighing and measuring everything, and see what happens after a week. Then we can come back and perhaps over some advice based on your nutrition. Good luck.
-
I would reset the goal using the new lower activity amount, like when you first joined MFP. Then when you are back to practice you can reset it once again with the higher activity level.
-
It can be worse. My Old Rasputin Stout has 300 calories for the same amount!!
-
It'll be easier to offer suggestions if we could see your diary!

I learned a few nights ago that I'd rather sip forever on a great tasting beer than chug down a bunch of Miller Lights. So get something that is well crafted with flavor and drink it slowly and enjoy the company.
