I'm not picking on you here, your post was just the closest to the end of the thread and nicely succinct so I'm going with the general thought. For those who say things like this, have you been in relationships where there was no distance and they still didn't work out? Most of us have. No one thinks anything of it if a…

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. ((hug))

That was beautiful. :) LDR can work. In some ways they are harder than regular relationships. In other ways they are actually easier. I met my hubby 22 years ago. We weren't a LDR until nearly a decade later. He was activated with the Nat. Guard and sent to Iraq in 2003. He was gone for 14 months. The distance actually…

OK, you know how you put your ceiling fans in one direction in summer to blow the cool air and switch it in winter to warm the air? Well, just do that with your helicopter blades. As you continue going about your daily helicopter parenting the blades will push the warm air onto your precious snowpea and all will be fine.

I am in the US and thick means stupid to me as well.

Different body types. My hubby is 6'4". If he weighed 170 he'd look anorexic. He looks best and healthiest at around 210-220. When we got married I weighed 129. I'm 5'6". I wore my sister's wedding dress in the exact same stitching she wore it. She's 1 1/2 inches taller than me and weighed 15 lbs less. But our body types…

One of hubby's great aunts said that we needed to touch our baby's feet to the back of his head to keep him from getting some disease (some weird name like the shaky curveys). Needless to say, she was never allowed to hold him.

They are regulated by the FDA. If the ingredients are the same it's the same product. Check the expiration dates like others hav said but those should still be fine. To the person who asked what they do to make it profitable at $1 - nothing. It's just REALLY REALLY profitable at $20. By selling it in dollar stores they are…

I should add that all of the above was within the first few years of marriage. Once he realized that I wasn't going to fall for the "Oh I didn't notice the trash" or "I left the bowl in the sink because I didn't know if the dishwasher was clean or dirty" (open it. If it's empty or there are dirty dishes in it - it's…

I've been married 18 years. BTDT. Hubby put empty cans in the sink. Drove me crazy. I told him to just put them in recycle. He kept "forgetting". So one day I loaded the dishwasher an put the empty cans in it. Then I made sure he unloaded it. He was surprised to see the cans in there and asked why they were in there. I…

Switch the sweet tea and chocolate milk for diet cola. It's a fact that diet cola works with your nervous system to circulate out the extra calories.

Hubby went as a zombie one year. He got a suit at Goodwill and buried it in the yard for a week (to get dirty and that fresh dirt smell) then smudged mud on his face, messed up his hair, and put some "wounds" on himself with red lipstick. It was great. A friend of ours took a bunch of weeping willow branches and misc…

Yea, that. You survived, and thrived, for 5 months without her. Tell her you learned some great kitchen tricks and want to show off your new culinary skills.

I don't really remember what my kids weighed at that age. They were always very large though. Boy 1 is now 14. He's 6 ft tall and weighs about 165. He's long and lean and solid. He was born at 10 lbs 11 oz and 22 1/2 inches long. He was off the charts on both height and weight his whole life. Around age 11/12 he got a bit…

AZackery, what exactly do you do "in the medical field"? What is your area of expertise?

Jedi, I understand COMPLETELY! I don't work out as hard as you do but I am not hungry and still rarely go over 1000 calories a day. The ONLY time I manage to lose weight is if I am on Adkins. I have been at this site for about month. I've lost 10 lbs. It's all been within the last 2 weeks - since I stared back on Atkins.…

AZackery, what exactly do you do "in the medical field"? I'm curious because you don't seem to know how the body works or what processes what. Yes, the immune system needs water. That's because the immune system is part of the body and the body neds water. That doesn't mean it has anything at all to do with processing the…

I think VA is most like Germany of any place I've been in the states. Hi! I'm Janette. I'm 41, married 18 years and have a 14yo and 11yo sons. I work from home with my own business doing taxes and finance. My hubby works for the federal government and is currently in Afghanistan. We've gotten used to the time apart. Since…

"Starvation mode" isn't really something most people have to worry about. Your body doesn't go into starvation mode because you don't eat much for a few days or weeks or even months. If that were the case the reverse would also be true and our bodies would go into excess mode if we ate too many calories for a few days or…

Walking. If you are stuck in the house try doing laps around the house. Whenever I tlak on the phone I walk around the kitchen/family room/hall/living room/dining room. You might be surprised by how much exercise you can get doing that. If you have a 2 or more story house walk up and down the stairs. Why can't you work out…

I think I'm in love!  I'll stick with my hubby though. He may not be a financial whiz but that's why he has me.

Ditto except we've been married 18.5 years and didn't get a joint account until after we were married.

It would be about as healthy too. Are you really saying that in the course of an entire day you'd eat just 2 sausage biscuits?

It all depends on your specific situation. If you have a high credit limit to income ration that can be bad for your credit. If you have a lot of closed accounts that can also be bad. Mind you, by "bad" I'm not talking about a 50 point drop. It could be as little as 1 or 2 points or as much as that 50 point drop. Again, it…

We actually agree on the emergency fund/credit card bit. That's why I said this in my original post: I also said you might not NEED a credit score to get a good loan. BUT you will pay more fees and have a higher interest rate than someone who does have a good credit score. That adds up to wasted money.
-
Janise, If you are ever going to buy a house or a car or take out a student loan a good credit score is imperitive. I completely disagree with Dave if he says you don't need a credit score to get a mortgage. Either that is old information or he's, well, I'm not sure what he's thinking. We bought this house in December.…

When I was single I worked two forty hour/week jobs AND was planning for our wedding 5 months later. I'd get up at 7:00am, get ready for work, pop 2 whole grain waffles in the toaster and eat them plain in the car on the way to work. I'd bring a lunch that I had made as a larger quantity and frozen during some time off. I…
