I log them, and eat them back. I wear my HRM the whole time. The HRM may not be the best measure if you are resting 2 to 3 minutes between sets, but I rest 60 seconds or less and am working hard the whole time. One way I compensate is by subtracting my base cal/hr (your daily cal per day/24 X hr working out). On deadlift…

I put the bottle beside my deodorant in the medicine cabinet, so right after my shower I use both.

cooked pasta weighs about 2 times dry weight, so 100 gm cooked is 50 gm dry. It can vary a bit based on the type of pasta, but it is close.

If you want (imo) the mother of butt blasters, try single leg romanian deadlifts with kettle bell or dumbell. The key to engaging the gluts in deadlifts is the hip thrust once the weight is above your knees. Get that down and you will crack walnuts with your butt !

I'm loosely cheering for the Caps, but I have a feeling LA is going to shock everyone and at least get to the dance, and maybe win it.

muscleandstrength.com has great articles, vids and forum for weight training. There is a complete section for women's training. Jump in and get reading. Just like weight loss, you need effort and education to do it right.

I leave it on. I only rest about a minute between sets, and usually my heart rate doesn't drop, I am sweating and breathing hard most of the workout. If you wanted to get crazy about it, divide your daily calories before the deficit by 24. That is your calories per hour base level. Then multiply that by your work out…

Work outs are good for fitness and muscle building, but if you eat your calorie goals, you will lose without exercise. Diet is by far more important in weight control than exercise. As the above mentioned, if you don't make your life enjoyable, you will fail. I game 2 to 3 hours a day once the kids are in bed, but I watch…

muscleandstrength.com has very good information, and well balanced workouts. There is a women's workout section.

I have a polar F7, works very well. I find MFP numbers about 10-15 % high compared to my monitor, but the machines in the gym are usually 30% high. With the machine , the longer the workout, the less high the % discrepancy, a short 10 or 15 min workout is WAY off. Today I did a 30 minute interval workout on an elliptical…

I warm up with interval cardio for 10 minutes on eliptical. That burns approx. 100 cals. according to my HR monitor. The cardio machine estimates much higher, usually 170. I then lift a whole body routine for about 30 - 40 minutes, each exercise 12 rep X 3, less than a minute rest between sets. At this pace I am sweating a…

43, married with 3 kids. Have all the consoles, but mostly play the PS3.

You are doing fine. You are basically on pace at a pound a week. People losing more probably have 50 to 100 or more pounds to lose. Slow and steady is better, you keep more lean mass (muscle). I have never lost at the pace MFP says I will, but I do lose, and that is what is important.

no luck :( Now to decide if I spend 130 on a fix, or 230 on a new one. I am leaning toward a new one, hopefully something goes on sale soon. I do have my 360 and Wii, but I was in the middle of a COD BLOP addiction and I am disgruntled.

search for strength training in the cardio section.

There are a lot of things that impede weight loss (like stress), but you can aim for a calorie deficit. You don't HAVE to exercise to lose weight, just eat a deficit. Try not to stress about what others say, and really you can eat anything you want, as long as it fits in you calories. Remember it is a long term commitment,…

I have all 3 of the current consoles and I wouldn't be buying a new one for a long while. Whichever comes first, the others will still be getting new games. After a couple of years, and the kinks having been ironed out (RLOD I'm looking at you), I would consider it. By then, the price will have dropped, and a backlog of…

For my 2 cents, that is a too much cardio if you actually want to get some muscle back on your frame. If you believe it necessary, then at least do your weight training BEFORE your cardio when you have some energy to push yourself. You don't outline your lifting routine, but I suggest 3 to 6 sets for smaller muscle groups,…

I just got it at Xmas and I like it. I haven't played COD since modern warfare and I am loving it. I'm not great at it, so I like that the people there are not all superstars to use me as a meat target.

I have used the EA active workout for the Wii, and it was good. It can have you sucking wind easily. The Wii Fit is not as organized and is a lot more casual. But it comes down to effort at the gym or at home. If you are pushing yourself you will improve, if you are just cruising you will see little in return. My wife has…

You can do it at this age. I started at 220 and have been lifting weights and decreasing body fat. I have a "2 pack", upper abs defined, lower not there yet. I think in about 5 lbs lower I'll be the Hugh Jackman look. If you are getting near abs showing, 6lb is a big difference, easy to see. I would bet neither of those…

Protein is good. I shoot for eating 100 over my protein default and 100 less on my carbs. That still doesn't get me to 1 gm protein per pound lean body weight.

lucky! I got the Sly Collection, I doubt it will have the addiction of Skyrim. I may buy it if I find it on sale after Xmas.

My first goal was to get under 200 after being 220. Then I thought at 190 I would be lean and mean, but once I was there I still had work to do. I am now shooting for 180. I am basically looking to get defined abs.

I tried carb back load for 10 days. I felt good, no hunger, but I had absolutely nothing in the tank in the gym. It may have been due to timing, as I worked out at lunch time, but I stopped due to poor workouts.

The calorie calculators are based on theories, and not specific to you. You need to monitor your progress for a few weeks, then adjust, just like you have done. You do need to give it more than 3 days though, with water retention and daily flux, its hard to tell for sure. If you are eating relatively cleanly already, you…

Ever see the people who are always at the gym, yet look the same. They likely do a boat load of isolation moves without ever doing compound moves. Deadlifts are my favorite lift, the one I look forward to all week. They kick your butt, but I love the raw effort it takes. The previous comments about form are VERY important.…

Great improvement, keep it up!
