Dimpleschick, what use is a gun locked up in a safe, with a trigger lock on it, with the ammo locked up separately if someone breaks in? I have my carry piece sitting on a textbook to my right, and only thing I cede to safety is knowing to be safe, and having the safety on. Too many people think a safe gun requires a ton…

Look, you want to debate the gun laws, take it here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/416370-guns-on-campus I made a post specifically for it in the gun lovers group. I'd actually love some of you against it to pop in and debate, I'm a moderator of the group, and our main rule is attacking the argument, not the…

Being Vehemently pro-gun myself...it doesn't friggen matter. Who gives a hoot right now what could have/would've prevented this, or was pointless, you want to debate that, I'm a member of a group you can do that in. What is important right now is some criminal shot and killed a cop and one other, and there's no good reason…

Just want to throw out that I personally eat 1 large meal a day for the most part (Unless a glass of ovaltine whole milk in the morning really counts as a meal? :P) and otherwise usually just snack. I also eat under or near my calorie goal for losing 2 pounds a week (Though I have gone over a few times, not TOO bad at…

Ah, well, then yea, might need to go another route unless you have pants that fit loose. :P Always plenty of options though, if you have roomy pockets might even try pocket carry, but if you do so DEFINITELY get a holster for it. Good luck making your decision on HOW to carry it!
-
I'm sorry, but, a G23 in .45cal? Do you mean a G23 in .40S&W? Or do you mean a G21, G30, or G36? The G23 is a compact version in .40S&W, not .45cal. In addition, a gun with a HALF POUND trigger pull? That's just...dangerous.

Nice! Congratulations on completing the course lea. Might I suggest you try out an inside the waistband holster as another note? It's my personal prefered method of carry and is quite concealable with minimum impact on wardrobe options given how little of the gun is exposed from your pants.

This is in reply to BigDaddyBRC's post that has since been edited out: First off, I didn't say the 2nd Amendment was a culture, I said it ALLOWED a culture that helps PREVENT the need for a Libya or Egypt situation. Another way of wording it would be to say we don't HAVE to worry about it, because we have these weapons…

The need? Simple. The 2nd Amendment wasn't meant for hunting or home defense, it was a defense against tyranny, and allowed a culture that prevented something like Egypt or Libya from being necesary here in the US. There is no reason to stop the proud tradition. In addition, many 'assault rifles', which really is just a…

We definitely are lucky over here...if I want to buy a rifle, I need only go to a gun shop, put down the money, and fill out a simple form. Some states have waiting periods, including mine, but with certain licensing, either to hunt or to carry a gun, you get that waived. I could even buy or sell a gun off of a friend. And…

Oof! I knew it was bad and a good bit of that, but some of it still is surprising. The scopes and silences key among them, often times I've heard that in most European countries use of silencers by gun owners is encouraged, is the licensing for them mainly a Ireland thing? Or are the rumors that make it over here wholly…

My name is Nick, obviously the significant other of Brittany up there. As far as my favorite gun goes, at least that I own, I'd probably have to say my K98k for rifles, and for handguns, my Luger. What can I say, I like German guns? As far as one I'd love to have, that's simple...an MG42. Cmon, who DOESN'T want the buzzsaw?

Ah, Groton sub base...very nice area to visit. I'm up in New Britain, and would strongly advise getting a good winter set up going. Decent boots, good coat, maybe a few pairs of thermal underwear. If you live on base, or close to it, you'll probably get a good bit of cold wind off the river, so scarves and hats would be a…

Definitely fair enough Rtalen, trust me, I'd jump in right along side you if I saw someones instructors advocating shoot to wound also. I don't want a 'good guy' whether they be a cop, or a citizen with a gun ending up dead by not doing enough, or ending up in prison because they kept going when it was obvious they didn't…

And I'd agree with you there, if I can't tell for certain the person isn't a threat at that point, I'm not going to try to figure it out either. I just figured in the example I'd go from one extreme (Not having to shoot at all) to the other (having to shoot until they ARE dead) to make the point that you stop as soon as…
-
Erf, oof, sorry, yes, corrected that, fingers got ahead of me on that one! And by that I mean if the person sees you draw a gun, and before you line up, they say drop to the ground and put their hands on their head, you don't shoot. If they turn around and run out of your house, you don't shoot. I'm not saying give them a…
-
jq2122, yes you should be prepared for the eventuality of killing the person, but that doesn't mean you shoot to kill them. You shoot to stop the threat. IF that ends in their death, so be it. However the reason you don't shoot to wound is because most people consider that to be shooting the person in the arm, hand or leg.…

Pa2b32, I'm honestly surprised that an NRA certified instructor would inform you to aim to KILL. THAT is a good way to get arrested. I would agree that one should never draw their gun unless afraid for their life, however if such a situation does occur, you shoot to stop, that's it. You never shoot to kill, to do so is to…
