I'm exactly the same way. I'm good at exercising and eating right during the week, but come the weekend I'd rather go to the pub with my boyfriend and friends than exercise, and it's harder to eat right when my boyfriend is home eating more calories than I'm allowed. However, I'm still managing to lose weight... I'm just…

That's so exciting!!!! Congratulations on your loss and this great trip!

Yes! What is that about?? Don't they know I am on the very brink of eating unhealthily already? Lol

I've heard various answers to this - most people seem to think you should eat 50-75% of your "exercise calories" (so you would eat about an extra 150 calories on the days you're at the gym, in addition to your 1480 daily allowance). I usually eat most of mine because I work out to allow myself some extras - I get so hungry…

I like golden delicious - not quite as tart but has a great crisp texture. I haven't had Corland or Empire, but if you are trying to avoid mushy don't go with Macintosh!!!

I work part time and go to school part time, so I have an irregular schedule. On the days I'm in school I don't start until 9:30 so I get up at 7, do 30-45 minutes of exercise, then go to school. On the days I work I have to get up at 6 and can't bring myself to set the alarm any earlier, so I exercise in the evening. Only…

I'm only on day 3 but I already feel myself improving when I do the strength exercises - the first day I followed the "easy" version for every exercise, today I did the harder ones for a few of them, it felt great! I weight myself weekly so haven't even checked for changes yet, but I like the way I feel after it so I'll…

I just started yesterday, I put it in as circuit training as well. I ordered a heart rate monitor and it should be here in about a week - I'll post here if it says my calories burned are anywhere near what MFP "circuit training" says!

I have an analog and I really don't like it. I have to calibrate it myself every time (line it up to 0 using a little knob) and every time I'm worried I didn't get it exactly on. Also, I'm the kind of person who loves decimal points, and analog doesn't show me that :)

Use a resistance band and look up some videos or exercise plans online - I just got one and they are great. You can't spot tone your upper body, so keep up with the cardio to lose that weight, but building muscle with the resistance band will speed up that process.

I've drastically reduced the amount I eat at fast food or restaurants, and when I can't avoid it I choose salad. I've been watching my calories closely and I started working out at home, using free online videos.

When I reach my ultimate goal I'm going on a total shopping spree and using my savings account to pay for it - I refuse to hold back lol. My mom has been getting a massage for every 10 pounds she loses, but I can't afford that. I've been doing one or two new pieces of fitness equipment or clothing for every 5 pounds. When…

This is me also - flabby belly. I've read over and over that cardio is the way to go and general strength training to supplement it. Like mzenzer said, there's no specific strength training or exercise you can do to lose just off your tummy - bummer! I've been seeing very slow results with cardio, I'm just going to keep at…

That is FANTASTIC!!! Thanks for being such an inspiration! You must be so proud, you deserve every compliment and congratulations you get, and then some!

Awesome! Definitely something to keep on hand :) thanks

Oh, also, go vegetarian some nights! My boyfriend and I have gone "half-time veg" - a couple nights a week we'll eat a meatless meal. You can't even tell - serve a pasta dish with no meat, or make veggie burgers, or just make 4 or 5 vegetable side dishes. It's healthier and cheaper and it lets us mix things up so we don't…

I do a weekly menu, but I leave it somewhat flexible. I go grocery shopping once a week after I've planned the menu, and I buy everything I need for that week. I plan the mains but I don't plan the day I'll serve each - we're pretty busy and unexpected things come up, so in the morning I'll pull whatever I need out of the…

You can definitely see it! You absolutely look slimmer. Congratulations! I'm down 27 so far and I don't see it in myself either, but my jeans are all fitting much looser and I'm down 2 holes in my belt. I'm more excited about how I feel than how I look - I figure if I keep up like this I'll see results eventually, but I'll…

I overeat (overATE - I'm getting better!) out of boredom and because I don't have much self control - if someone offers me food, I'll down it whether I'm hungry or not. I think that part of it was out of rebellion also - when I was a teenager and I started gaining weight my mom would constantly remind me to watch what I…

My biggest problem when I'm eating alone is that I over-indulge because my boyfriend isn't there to keep me distracted from food. I've started making meals ahead of time for when I know he won't be home so that I don't do that - I grill or roast one chicken breast and eat only that with spinach salad for dinner, and if…

Thanks for posting! SparkPeople is another good one that I use quite a bit - I just search youtube for "sparkpeople coach nicole" and there are lots. Many also require little or no equipment and she gives at least 2 variations for each exercise for beginners or intermediates.

You should be, that's great!! Congrats! :)

White tea is very low in caffeine, I drink a lot of that - does anyone know about green tea?

I think indulging every now and then is good - might help avoid serious cravings that result in binges, which are definitely bad. As long as you're under your calorie goal I don't see what's wrong with that! Good job!
-
And be patient! Don't lose courage when you don't see results as quickly as you want - as long as you are exercising and eating right you are helping your body, whether or not you lose weight quickly!
-
I agree with think48, it's definitely about getting over that first one or two weeks of cravings, and then they go away. They definitely did for me. I had this (probably stupid) plan to reward myself at 15 pounds gone with a dinner out at McDonald's, but when I hit that 15 pounds after a couple of months of working hard at…

I've heard putting a little lemon juice on them stops them from browning, but I've never tried it. I keep one of those corer and slicers at my office for when I bring an apple.

Congratulations!! I just signed up a few days ago as well, but I've been using the app on the ipod touch for about 6 months. I'll friend you - my first friend on MFP haha. Good luck with everything!

Badrianne - yes, it's not so much about helping you to stay focused or lose weight as it is about how to go about picking a goal and breaking down your goal into manageable pieces. Right now I'm like you, I'm definitely focusing on the number, but when these 5 months are up I can choose another number that's 10% of my…
