If you're trying to lose 2 lbs a week, yes, of course, 1200 is not enough. 2 lbs a week is a highly aggressive weight loss goal. What's the hurry? Do the math to see what your maintenance calories would be once you reach your goal weight. As long as you stay within that, you'll lose, and you'll be better prepared to…

I notice your goal is to lose 10 lbs. By any chance are you trying to achieve the weight you were before pregnancy? Remember that pregnancy expands the bones of your rib cage and pelvic ring. That's a permanent change. That's how anthropologist can tell if a skeleton is from a woman who has had children. Well, if the bones…

I'm not going to live the rest of my live without cookies. If I'm going to maintain my weight, we need to co-exist. I'm thinking that making cookie dough, forming it into individual balls, and freezing it might work. You have to thaw the dough, then bake it before you can eat the cookie. (Or at least thaw it, lol.) Thaw…

Yeah, last summer when we dealt with bedbugs (daughter brought them home from a slumber party, we think), we realized why wealthy people in the pre-DDT era had separate rooms for their clothes. It's much easier to control bed bugs if the only thing in the bedroom is the bed.

You have to take into consideration what activity level you set when you joined MFP. Unless you chose "sedentary," some of your exercise calories already counted in your total. You can't eat those back, because that would be double-counting. I just chose sedentary so ALL exercise I do entitles me to eat more calories that…

you have to find a calorie reference for the edible parts of the fruit. Something like "orange segments" or "raw chopped apple" and use the grams of weight.

Get your own cookies. Cookies you don't share. Cookies that you don't feel the need to eat now, lest everyone else beat you to it. Then log every cookie before you eat it, and only eat it if you have calories at the end of the day. Store them in a sealed container, because they are going to last a long time for you.…

A lot of people get hungry on antihistamines. Ones like Allegra with less effect on the brain may have less effect on your appetite, too. Inhaled allergies aren't like being allergic to peanuts where one little bit and you die. It's a dose effect. If you are exposed to more than a certain total amount of pollen/dust/mold…

People on metformin tend to report they sit down to eat with a normal appetite, but are satisfied with smaller portions. It's like your brain gets clued in to the amount you have eaten faster, before you have a chance to overeat. So if you eat big meals it would help more than if you snack and drink soda all day. You will…

If it works for you, and you're losing weight at the predicted weight, you're unusually good at estimating calories. Most people who have weight to lose didn't get there by having a good intuitive sense of how much they were eating.

I've been on 1200 since late October. Because of my age/gender/baseline weight, my calorie requirements for maintenance at my 40-lb overweight starting weight were only 1650. So even at 1200, MFP only allowed me 3/4 lb a week weight loss. I've been losing weight pretty much on a straight downward line, with little up and…

Protein curbs my appetite, too. Skim milk covers the water and the protein. A glass before a meal helps you stop eating when you're full. I love fresh vegetables to fill me up, too. I eat sweet red bell peppers like apples. I have the bags of frozen chopped broccoli florets and microwave 2 cups then add 2 Tbsp Chinese hot…

People think they "have" pets because humans have tamed animals. Relationships with pets are two-way. Humans, cats and dogs have chosen to associate with members of another species and have derived mutual benefit. The cat has you as a pet the same way you have the cat. You can't just make any random wild animal into a pet…

Seriously, it's the heating that's important, just like with nam pla (fish sauce). The odor changes when they're fried.

My husband is looking forward to taking me out shopping when my size stabilizes. I had to break the news to him that there are no bras at Victoria's Secret that are small enough for me :( Fortunately, he likes hips more than busts. I have no problems there. lol.

I spread it on crackers topped with jalapeno salsa.

I don't have as much to lose as other people here, but I have definitely experienced the phenomenon where if I overeat one day, it is harder, not easier, to stay within goal the next day. It doesn't make intuitive sense (I should be better prepared for limited calories, right?) but I find that when I start restricting…

Is there an organization in your town to distribute those pizzas to people who are hungry? There's one in my town that collects food from restaurants and distributes it to homeless shelters and soup kitchens, and has insurance so the restaurants don't have liability if someone claims they got sick from the food. Or maybe…

You're not "on" or "off" anything. This is just the way you eat now. I would work on getting over the mental block about logging first, so it's not so overwhelming. Set a future date to start actually losing weight. Start logging now, with no attempt to reduce your intake. Just complete honesty about where you are starting…

It's always possible he wants you fat because he likes you that way. I know several thin, good looking, successful men who married 300 lb+ women. They aren't sabotaging their wives' weight loss attempts, fortunately, because they understand the health risks. But some men find rotund women attractive. (Certainly, with all…

There's no way you're going to see progress in 3 weeks when you're eating that much sodium. The water you retain will weigh more than the fat you reduce. And I would also suggest getting a food scale so your measurements are accurate. Some of those quantities look like awfully round numbers.

I'm pear shaped and don't have enough on top to wear a lot of bathing suits. When they get wet, they droop in embarrassing ways. They expect the breasts to support the suit instead of the other way around. I get mastectomy suits now -- they're cut to cover a little more.

Looking at your diaries, your food portions look like the portion sizes listed in the database. If you're measuring accurately, that isn't going to happen. For instance, I ate a red bell pepper yesterday. It was 100g. When you look in the database, the portion says, "large red bell pepper, 100g." But this was an unusually…

If eating pastries is something you really enjoy and can't imagine giving up, plan on doing it. By plan, I mean, decide what day you will have what treat, and how you will adjust your other calories that day to accommodate it. You don't have to eat exactly what everyone else does and you don't have to be healthy 100% of…

Post your diaries. And tell us more about HOW you log your food, how you determine how much you are eating and how many exercise calories you are expending. Forgetting to log and guestimating portion size are common causes. Your body has an amazing ability to keep a stable weight if you don't measure precisely.

Two weeks isn't enough time to call something a plateau. Your weight goes up and down due to sodium and water enough to mask any real weight loss in that short a period. Your food choices do seem heavily weighted to "sometimes" foods, though.

It would depend how you cook it. Hot sauce is added at the table and doesn't add a lot of calories. But it plays havoc with your colon. Spicy food is more typically made by heating the peppers at high temperature before adding liquid ingredients. It may mean dry toasting, but more often means frying in oil. That would add…

Please everyone, we're getting off topic. This is NOT a discussion of whether starvation mode exists. I don't care whether it does or not. I'm interested in the fact that SOME people have had PERSONAL experience that makes them believe it does. I want to learn more about exactly what they experienced. Whether it is truly…

I wouldn't let on you're wearing a HRM. Just work out with your iPod on as if you have no idea why their machines' displays are on the fritz. If it bothers them, they'll move to other machines. Half of them will probably be thinking they're getting a great workout and getting their own heart rates up. ;)

If you work out too hard, you will get nausea. If you use your arm too much, you may restart the bleeding and get a big bruise under your skin that will slow you down a couple weeks. If you don't eat and drink after donating, you'll be too light headed to do anything but lie down the rest of the day. They come up with…
