Welcome!! MFP is set up so that when you burn calories you "earn" them back as "extra" calories that you can then eat. (also a controversial topic here and everywhere in the fitness / nutrition world) So if you do not exercise then you shouldnt go over 1630 calories. If you do exercise and say you burn 249 calories you…

Oh I totally agree! I love this theory too! I agree with taking measurements since you dont feel like your losing inches and arent sure where from. You asked about why even bother if you arent able to lose the belly fat- You bother because its not just about your looks. Its about getting healthy. As you get more and more…

I tried to go bra shopping today. I tried on 20+ bras at kohls. Walked out with 2 that sorta fit. I am need of a fitting for sure! It seems like every bra is different though. Even the 2 I got are different bands and cup sizes. What is up with that!? I can tell I am losing my girls as I lose weight though.

3rd shifter here too! I have my diary broken down into 4 hour blocks. I run on military time so thats what worked for me but it could say whatever works for you. 0000-0400 (midnight to 4am) 0400-0800 (4 am to 8am etc) 0800-1200 1200-1600 1600-2000 2000-0000 As for when my day starts and stops I run it from midnight to…

My current weight is 159. I am 4'11''. On 3/3/11 I was 162.8 (at the dieticians) with a BMI of 32.9 and a body fat % of 36.4. In the beginning of the year my body fat % was 38. I am working with a dietician to monitor nutrition and my body fat%. The gym with the trainer- Fitworks- doesnt have water but my new gym does.…

Agreed! Sax- This is more along the lines of what I was expecting my trainer to come up with. Sad that he couldnt. BUT the internet is a wonderful place full of ideas!! Steph- I totally understand the no time thing. I work full time nights (11pm-7am), go to school during the day 4x a week and physical therapy (shoulder…

Mine was accurate when on a flat level surface. I had a small dip in the floor and I noticed my weight was off if the scale was near that dip. It was so small you wouldnt have noticed it but it was enough that the board wasnt balanced. The board sounds like a good solution :) I think I might try that! We recently moved and…

Zellygurl- I would agree except he doesnt have any certifications. Apparently none are needed to work at fitworks in Ohio and I didnt ask when I signed up. In fact after I signed up I asked how long he had been doing this and he had been there 3 weeks and I was the first paying client. He was right out of college with a…

Correction: Sorry I didnt mean for it to sound like I didnt want to strength train at all. Just not with him. I told him I would still strength train on my own at the other gym. I wanted him to come up with new fat burning workouts without the machines since I can use the machines on my own. I do know that strength…

I looked it up on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNWPk6tYoUM Doesnt look like you'll need to worry about religous stuff. I am told it helps with blood flow and overall health and is almost like a meditation. Also helps with balance and muscular stamina. Good luck

I think we just have a different idea of what starvation mode is and how long it takes to occur. It is not something that happens in a matter of days. It is fairly simple to find articles to prove both sides. I again recommend anyone concerned to consult a medical professional- as I did for me. I know that for me to few…

good question. I've always just created my own since nothing I put in ever pops up

A sweet snack for less than 100 calories!

I'm sorry but this will bring critics I know! I read this article and it is a blog. That means it's not a reliable source. I can create a blog that says the sky is not blue. Does that mean I am right? Nope. In addition she states no scientific evidence to prove her point. If she has cited sources to her claims she would be…

A dietitian can tell you exactly the amount of calories your personal body needs. They have you breathe into a machine for about 20 mintues and calculate your metabolic rate. That will tell you if your body truly needs less calories than the standard min of 1200.
-
Sure! It's actually really good too! Next time I think i'll cut the lemon juice in half but other than that I think it was great!
-
Yup! As silly as it sounds its true. 1200 is the magic number. I stuggle with this too. I joke that I am the fatest anorexic since I never eat but have no problem gaining weight. I dont eat all of my exercise calories but I make a point to try and stay over 1200 net calories. I just started a program at work that focuses…

My excuses: 1) I work full time (often more) at night from 11pm-7am 2) I am a full time college student needing to keep my grades up for law school 3) I am TIRED every day (I average 3-5 hours of sleep a day if I am lucky and never at once) 4) I feel like I have to choose between food and sleep most days let alone…

I marinate in italian dressing too. I just tried a raspberry dressing tonight and it was great. I like it more than the italian. I did pan fry it though. I am slowly moving from fried to baked but it will not happen overnight :blushing: Im going to try apple juice and cinnamon marinade this week. I entered each ingredient…

I quit 2 1/2 years ago. It took me about 3 months before I went a day without a craving and I am not going to lie I still get them from time to time now- especially during really stressful situations. For me the problem was 2 fold. I had an oral fixation (people who eat a lot, smoke, talk a lot have oral fixations and its…

The Elvis Duran Channel on iheart radio I listen to them in the mornings in the car too. iheart radio has their shows playing back to back 24/7. iheart radio has several what they call "personalities" that you can listen to if you have an iPhone or other device that supports iheart radio. I use it for music too and then I…

Haha. This is true. When I go to the gym the guys lifting the big weights are always making funny noises!! me? more like groans! lol! So long as your not bothering anyone you should be fine (and what your describing doesnt sound like it would bother anyone). I text on my phone when I am on the treadmill during warm ups and…

The price ranges. I did a search on HRM monitors in forums and the general agreement was to stick with the polar brand. So I hopped onto Ebay and picked one up brand new for $65 and free shipping. It's been WELL worth it for me! I have the polar FT7.
-
Yup! I have the FT7 and there are 3 buttons on the right side of the watch. If you hit the top or bottom youll be able to scroll through to see your HR, cals burned, workout duration and suggested HR range for fat loss. If you bought it new it should have come with an instruction manual (or if the previous owner kept it).…
