  • Great job today, @Laurie! Glad your brother and his fam came out to support you, you made great time. I'm so glad you had fun (that's the most important thing)! Hello everyone. Good, eventful day today. Finally made it to the bike shop, so I'm all set with my new (to me) bike--other than riding it at the shop to…
  • @Laurie~Good luck today!
  • Good Morning. @Laurie~I’m so excited for your first tri, you’ve been training really hard for this so I know you’re ready. I’m cheering for you! @Holly~Glad job interview went well, I’m always leery of working for small companies that don’t allow room for growth and can’t negotiate a decent salary—I worry about their…
  • @GOINSTD12~I’m often inundated with emails and phone calls at work, I love it when I have a quiet day (which isn't often)—it’s amazing what I can accomplish! Hooray for your lunch-time workouts…wish I could do that, but it’s a 30-minute drive to my gym from work. :confounded: @Annr~I wish the same from my sister. My…
  • Good Morning. It just dawned on me that it’s Wednesday, I guess it just feels like Tuesday since I was off of work on Monday. Slow day on the thread yesterday. @Karen~I am notorious for over-packing, you wouldn't believe the shoes I take! For every cruise, I bring two suitcases--I have the best of…
  • Good Morning. Sorry I’ve been MIA, I just don’t get much opportunity to get stuff done during the week so my weekends tend to be filled with running around. Today we’re ordering lunch in for a co-workers birthday, but the place we’re ordering from has an online nutrition calculator so I already have a plan. I did bake some…
  • @GOINSTD12~LOL The Furminator is a special overpriced ($50!) brush for cats/dogs that removes their undercoat—it decreases shedding. I had one for short-haired cats and I think it was irritating Zoe’s skin, so picked one up for long-haired cats (she is a ball of fur). You can give cats canned pumpkin in small quantities…
  • Thanks. She doesn't eat canned food and the vet doesn't want her having pumpkin (I asked yesterday since I gave it to Pebbles when she was in end-stage renal failure). Given her crazy fur, she actually doesn't expel hairballs often (three times in 2-1/2 years). They've given me a hairball elimination medication to…
  • @cblue315~I am very sorry about the loss of your sister. @KarinaGeneva~I ordered the plum in large in early February, it’s been on back-order this entire time. This one is supposed to fit more snug because of the HR, I hope I don't regret the large over the small--I've always worn my Fitbit Flex loose like a…
  • @jennbo83~So close to that century mark, what a great milestone—definitely need to reward yourself! @Karen~So glad you reached a tentative 4-year agreement—fingers crossed its blessed by the board! @Hansea47~I’m the oldest and that was me too, helping my dad out with the yard (and sometimes the cars). My sister was drafted…
  • LOL Mowing lawn and snowblowing is how I earned my allowance as a teenager, hated it. :confounded: Our yard was so hilly that I dreaded doing it. Oddly enough, my sister never had to do that kind of thing for her allowance after I went off to college. I don't do it now, luckily my HOA takes care of it. :smirk:
  • @Tanya949~I'm excited to report that my Fitbit Charge HR was shipped today! @Tom~I love today's quote! @GOINSTD12~My parents have a little over 5 acres that my dad takes care of, up until last year he walked behind a really wide mower but since he's in his 70s felt he deserved a riding mower (which my nephews…
  • Good Morning. I don't know what happened, lost my long post. :frowning: Oh well. It was a nice weekend with family; I hope for those that celebrate Easter that they had a nice holiday with their family and friends. Welcome to all of the newlings that stopped by over the weekend (I don't get the opportunity to post much on…
  • @Karen~I am so sorry for your shoulder, I know how frustrated you are. No, we don't want to mask the pain--cannot figure out why some docs think we do. :| I hate you can't get in there for six weeks--do you have to go thru your regular doc for a referral? Or can you ask him to refer you to an orthopaedic specialist…
  • Didn’t have time to check the thread yesterday, month-end at work always makes for a busy start to the month. @MyM0wM0w (Kris)~I’m so glad your experience at the dentist went better than you expected. Finding a good, caring dentist can be hard. I’m sorry you need to have that tooth pulled, but it does sound like the best…
  • @garysgirl719~Pushing a stroller and walking is great exercise, think of those babies as resistance training! @jaferjoy~Good luck on your interview! I’ve felt the same way about the hiring manager since I've been a couple of interviews lately, although I got hired here at my heaviest. I always hope they are more…
  • @Karen~Muffins are my absolute weakness. I can turn down cookies, cakes, donuts (especially) but I’m a bloodhound for blueberry muffins! ;) @Angelika~Ouch, another dislocated rib? I’m sorry. :( I’m glad the chiro can help but hope it stops happening. @Amanda~I’m sorry for the yo-yoing over the last three months, I’ve had…
  • @RobinB0812‌ ~So glad to see you back too. Decide is a great mantra for the year, we all have to “decide” to make the right choices. I certainly am guilty of making the wrong ones on more than one occasion. @jaferjoy‌~It sounds like you need a rest day from working out, you open yourself up to injury by not allowing your…
  • Just take it one day at at time. Try and change one bad habit (i.e. quit drinking soda), once you've mastered that set another goal, and just go from there. Don't try to change everything at once, it can be overwhelming. If you aren't comfortable changing anything yet, make a commitment to log what you're eating (it can be…
  • @Tammy~I love to paint (sort of)—my walls are annoying so it’s harder. House builders in Texas love to texture walls which makes it time consuming since it’s harder to get good coverage. Yes, be careful with that ankle—don’t re-injure yourself by overdoing it. That’s what I did and now I’m in this attractive boot until the…
  • @ardysedwardsmcgrath‌~First, welcome—glad you found us. @skinnyjeanzbound‌ is right, try and focus on the positive not the negative—focus on the weight you've kept off and just keep trucking along. @angelika~I’m sorry for your continued rib pain, try and take it easy until its healed—I need to follow my own advice (spend…
  • Good quote today, Tom. Its been a bad week at work with a horrific commute every.single.day (60-75 minutes each direction :rage:). I'll be glad when 3:00 gets here!
  • @Melifornia~Great news all around yesterday on the new writing assignments and especially that Frost is back to his usual self! @Karen~I’m sorry your shoulder isn't progressing as it should, hope your doc has some answers. I injured my shoulder while moving into my house several years ago, I lifted a heavy box over…
  • @jennbo83~Sorry about the prognosis of your mom’s dog. They are like part of the family—it will take some getting used to but I’m sure she will adjust to his needs for taking care of him. Good for you for getting to the gym to sweat out your stresses from the day. @Kaye~I’m really sorry to hear about DHs illness, he could…
  • @Melifornia~The older cats get the more often they have to go to the vet, unfortunately. :frowning: When two of mine were near the end of of their life I was at the vet with them every 2-3 months for a couple of years. Now I have Zoe who is all of 2, but I take her to the vet annually for a wellness exam/vaccines.…
  • @cassybaca~Welcome, you found a really great place for support and motivation in this sometimes frustrating lifestyle change. I call it a journey (some people don’t like that term), that is how I think of it—life it a journey, there are ups and downs. We cannot be perfect every day, we do what we can. We will fall off the…
  • For those that buy the Amy's Kitchen frozen foods, there has been a huge recall on items containing organic spinach: http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/amys-kitchen-recalls-73000-products-containing-spinach/
  • @Tom~I can’t imagine the electric bill if I set my thermostat to 68 degrees in the summer! I keep mine at 75-78 year-round. I’m cold natured, much below that and I think I would freeze! @Laurie~Hooray for new PB with your swim meet. :star: I’m okay with Chicago or Atlanta—both are a quick low-cost flight for me.…
  • Tracy, take a look at your macros. I just looked at your diary--your calories look good over the last several days (I won't lecture you on breakfast though since not everyone likes breakfast ) but the setting for carbs looks high.
  • From past experience I don't think lowering calories is the answer--if exercising very much your body generally needs more calories for recovery (especially in the form of protein). If you're dipping very far below BMR after exercise (or if you net below 1,200 calories), the body tends to hold on to fat.
