I used to only drink if I was thirsty and constantly showed symptoms of dehydration. Pretty sure I was chronically dehydrated but never drank more because I really disliked drinking and was baffled because I was drinking 'recommended' amounts and was very inactive. Finally decided to drink more, and when I did I actually…

I grew up with a couple of good friends in school, but went through a rough time and home-schooled the last part. Lost those friends. About that time a cousin moved back to Florida from another state and we were always friends, but after that we became attached-at-the-hip close. My sister and mother were also my friends.…

The sugar recs on here are laughably low...according to MFPs allowances most people can't even eat a little fruit or drink milk without clobbering their sugar totals. So just concentrate on the kinds an quality of sugar you take in more than how much. Natural sources like fruit are always best.

I am aiming for 100-125, and my sister CreekPrincess75 has probably about 150 lbs to go of her weight loss. Feel free to add both or either of us. :)

You are probably about even with me right now. My ticker says 77 lbs, but I probably need to lose more like 100 (or more). I'm about 13.5 lbs down and taking is slow and steady so I won't totally fall off the wagon completely! I haunt this website a lot and am pretty motivated (though not by any means perfect, lol...far…

A lot of people don't go by what MFP says. I eat as much as 300 cals or even more sometimes over and still lose weight with little to no exercise. go to fitnessfrog.com and use their calculators to try to find a calorie count to aim for and then adjust according to how your body reacts. You don't seem to have much weight…

One of the best picture compares I've seen because I love that you've done it together! :D

Weight does fluctuate during the day so if you weigh at different points in the day, you are going to see it a lot and it is normal. If you weigh at the same time every morning (say, after the bathroom but before eating a drinking) you shouldn't see much of a fluctuation because that is the point in the day when your…

My sister is using this and while I can't say it something I would do myself, I'm not going to tell her what to do. I would rather lose weight slowly while incorporating habits that won't be difficult to live with permanently. The only thing I do even close to a shake is protein powder in addition to my normal food because…

All these comments and no one has mentioned that he forgot to tell people to repeat??? Flawed instructions, people...without the repeat, it just becomes 'how to drink water' instead of 'how to drink more water.'

That is so sad! I know the gut wrenching sadness of losing a pet (I cried so hard for hours after my neighbors brought me one cat after she'd been hit by a car), but I've never gone through losing a kitten. That seems like it would be even worse. Watching an animal miss another animal is very hard too. Maybe when you feel…

Total wimp here...never even got my ears pierced as a child or adult. Intentional infliction of pain just isn't my thing, lol...

((Macaroni & Cheese + Pizza + sweets) - (activity + good sense)) x 30yrs = fat I'm not so hot at math, but I tried! Literally picky eating, bad nutrition as a kid, laziness...

I don't follow the MFP settings at all. I set mine to at least my BMR which is over 300 more than what this website says I should eat. I am losing about 5 lbs a month doing it, too.

Usually with people who exercise like mad and can't lose weight, they seem to consistently not eat enough to support their activity level and as a result metabolism slows and the body hangs on to calories with surprising determination. I know someone who is eating 500 cals a day and isn't losing any weight and doesn't…

Interestingly I just had an issue today with someone only eating 500 calories a day. She is crash dieting and doesn't want to see what that will do to her body. I provided her enough information to scare anyone with common sense, lol, but now it is up to her to decide for herself that it isn't healthy. So it makes me happy…

I was working out some, but got rather lax after injuring my arm. Being in pain makes me tired and unmotivated...but even with not exercising (if you don't count taking the stairs at work and the massive parking lot), I am still slowly losing weight. I seem to average about 5 lbs a month with or without exercise. Starting…

I am having trouble with either golfer's or tennis elbow. Possibly both...I really should probably give in and go to the doctor. For a while I was waking up in terrible pain because my habit is to sleep with my arm crooked. Started wearing something to prevent that so I'm at least not waking up miserable, but I'm rather…

Wow I can really see the difference! Makes me tempted to try when my arm heals and stopped hurting. Will be a while, though...but that is so great for you!

I saw several posters say 64 oz of water. You should really be drinking 1/2 your body weight in oz. instead. 64 oz. is too little for most people. And of course add to that if you exercise or live in a warm or humid climate. I did not know this for a long time and stayed dehydrated and had similar problems because of it.

No one has ever been negative on mine, but I kind of appreciate the awkwardness of people seeing my bad eating habits. Sometimes it keeps me from doing some terrible stuff just so people won't see it and I won't have to lie about it, LOL...

I thought I was doing good with water at one time, following average recommendations. But recently learned about the 1/2 body weight in oz. So make sure you drink at least 100 oz a day! If I don't, it can really affect my weight. Once when I didn't drink nearly enough I went up 3 or 4 lbs in a couple of days. Once I…

Yeah, the sugar on here is crazy. I eat a cup low sugar cereal, 1/2 cup milk, and a cup of cherries or another fruit each day which is usually enough to slam it. So yeah I don't put much stock in MFPs limits.

Listen to your body. I find it helpful to use something like the Wii fit that you can weigh every day and it will track it for you. Look at patterns over time as you try different things. Increase your food a little and give it several weeks to a month. Any difference in average weight over time? Or try decreasing. Pick a…

I saw that article a while back. It is frustrating that you know even when you make your goals, you will still be stigmatized for it. But not everyone will do that, and those are the people that are worth dating and being friends with! Can't do much about the in-laws though...bleh...
-
Start at a number that seems reasonable and watch patterns for at least a month, then adjust. Listening to your body is the single biggest thing you can do to help yourself. No one knows your body better than you do, and no one has the one perfect number, secret, or calculation that works for everyone. Calculators might be…

Yes, most water intake recommendations don't even begin to count for differences in weight. Obviously if there is more of you, there is more of you to keep hydrated. So generic water recommendations like that can be very misleading and damaging. I have suffered from chronic dehydration a good part of my life and am just…

A green toaster. (AKA Honda element, lol) I treat it like it's a sports car...hand washes and waxes only and often! :D

I understand how you feel. I work 40 hours a week, one on campus class during the summer and one on-line (during the fall/spring it is three or four classes) and of course trying to exercise and cook and eat better and get all of my school work done, etc. It can be rough because many days you just don't feel like cooking…
