I was in public school up until about 8th grade. I was overweight, awkward, miserable, shy...I started faking stuff to get out of school to the extent I was out of school more than in school. When I was in danger of failing my mother finally pulled me out of school and started me on homeschooling with A Beka out of…

This is a great place for support! I love meeting new people on here and many are fighting the same battles you are which helps a lot when you need advice or a sympathetic ear. So welcome! :) Looks like you are doing really great so far!

Mercenary, that is a really good point!

Always looking for friends as well! And I have over 100 lbs to lose myself, though I have my goal set lower right now.

Well, I can't promise normal, but I'm not TOO crazy! :p Anyway, welcome to MFB! I am always willing to lend and accept support, so I will send a friend request. I love using this website to meet people with similar attitudes and goals. I might not find a lot of support on Facebook with a lot of the people I know, but I am…

Welcome, fellow enlightened one! You have defected to the side of healthy, and may you never go back... LOL, sorry, on lunch at work and feeling the need to vent some pent up silliness. :D

I have maybe around 125 (145 if you count my bratty cat, but I just can't seem to lose those 20 lbs no matter how hard I try, LOL) to lose, so I am always happy to have similar friends!

I tend to boredom eat during the day at work. It is rough some days because I am at a computer all day, and I am not always busy enough to distract myself from wanting to snack. Usually I use other things to keep me occupied at least for a while, like some gum, or hard mints (never been able to eat more than one or two a…

Even if you are eating the right foods, are you eating enough? People who cut their calories too much seem to be more prone to illness from my experience. My sister was super sick, got better, started dieting again and was probably under eating a little bit, and then got sick again. So if you were sick once, you probably…

Have you tried blister bandages? Made for sweaty feet and also made so they don't come off easily. Might need something to help remove the super sticky adhesive afterward (Goo gone? lol), but they work.

I am a big snacker at work, too, so I have to work to find good snacks. The weight watchers smoked string cheese is awesome, and I LOVE the pepperjack cheese sticks! Just discovered Terra Tai Basil Curry veggie chips. I LOVE them! And they have very little sodium for chips. Almonds are great, and the dark chocolate coated…

Do you possibly have a mild form of Asperger's? My brother has had severe texture problems with food all his life. I can literally name all the things he would eat as a child because the list is so short. He wouldn't even eat pasta or mac & cheese. He liked very crunchy things, so he would eat a lot of toast, pizza,…

So glad that you finally stopped lurking so people can support you! I have found this place nearly overflowing with support...great, great start!

Great topic! One day I know I will have to give in and try heavier weight lifting as well to help me recover from the huge amount of weight loss I plan to have. :) Right now puny weights are enough, though, LOL...my mother is more reliable at opening jars than I am! ;_;

Great that you are making positive changes! Food, alcohol, tobacco...each can be a detrimental addiction in it's own way. This is a website called myfitnesspal, not myweightlosspal, so we are here to support you through this part of your journey to becoming a fit, healthy person as well! :) Always willing to be a…

I have always struggled with being easily embarrassed/mortified over stuff very easily. For the most part, unless it is something really severe, like obvious, sudden, public humiliation severe (which is super rare at worst), things don't get to me very much any more. The biggest reason is that if it is a circumstance that…

I was able to see both by right clicking and slecting view image. It made them full screen. For only being a week you can see distinct differences in how your body curves. Pretty impressive!

Thank you for posting this, I had never even thought about it until reading this thread. When I went to shower I decided to look and noticed my stomach is starting to look a little lumpy and uneven, so hopefully that means something good! I haven't lost much weight yet and haven't been working on it long (about a month),…

You have a body shape very similar to mind, so it is GREAT to get to see your results! You look awesome! I would be thrilled to have curves like that when all is said and done, instead of being a stick figure. :D Great job!

I bought a recumbant exercise bike about a month ago and it came with a heart rate monitor and gives calories burned. I usually use a routine that starts off with mild resistance/low heart rate and ends with moderate resistance and a higher heart rate. For 30 minutes and me around 270 lbs, it says I only burn about 210-220…

Don't give up on the fruits so fast. They are natural, not refined sugars, and a good thing for diabetics in place of the usual sweets people like to indulge in. Don't make the mistake of thinking your ability to eat a lot of the foods you love is over. Diabetes runs in my family, and while I don't have it yet, I have…

4 Him... ...was my favorite growing up, and Marty was my first crush, lol...I still have all of their classic albums. I still mostly enjoy a lot that was popular once upon a time. Amy Grant Steven Curtis Chapman Rebecca St. James East to West Cindy Morgan Lisa Bevill Michael W. Smith Mark Lowry's comedy and parodies :) I…

My family notices more quickly than my coworkers if I GAIN weight! lol Maybe it is just because they don't feel nearly as reserved about accusing you of it. My mother did that the other day...in front of a guy we barely knew, no less....
-
If it makes you feel any better, I had a 2,000 calorie over mess up a week ago. I never gained any weight though. I actually started losing weight faster after that.
-
Congrats on the big changes! But you need to smile more and look happy about it in your new pics! :D

I live away from my family now and am only just able to really have full control of my diet myself. I was weak willed around my family and tended to do whatever everyone else is doing. I still do when I visit them, eating out all the time, and they hardly keep anything of nutritional value in the house. It is very easy to…

New clothes at different periods as I slim down, but my BIG reward will be a vacation where I can enjoy being much more fit (maybe some amusement park hopping, lol), and during the trip eat what I want. I know if it is a trip where I am being physically active it won't hurt me that much because I tend to not overeat when I…

A couple of years ago I lost around 40 lbs without exercise. Gained it all back very easily though. This time around I have very little time to exercise or cook between work and school, but I am still determined to do it right this time. So far I feel so much better even with only 9 lbs down! Seems losing 40 lbs without…

Seems to keep your metabolism more active but eating a little more at least one day every week or two. I had a terrible day where I went 2,000 calories over last weekend...and I've lost several lbs since. So I don't think they really seem to hurt and even does you some good.

I love sweet stuff, too! Terrible weakness so I am always on the lookout to satisfy the cravings without going overboard and am always willing to share if I find a good new recipe. Someone on this board suggested a website today and it looks like it could be so great! Chocolatecoveredkatie.com...I really, really want to…
