You know, I hate meatloaf too. I try it all the time at different places, made by different people. And always I get kind of grossed out. I don't think meat should be made into a "loaf." I used to cry on meatloaf night all the time. Eventually my mom gave up on forcing me and made me a PB&J sandwich instead!

Nothing like stories to suppress your appetite, huh? Sorry... HAD to share, though!! I am not a fan of mayo myself... I use just enough to moisten my bread. I now buy the Smart Balance Omega mayo. But Mayo & Banana? ICK and BLECH!

Yay COFFEE! Gosh, I love coffee... :drinker:  :drinker: I used to put like 1/4 cup of creamer in my coffee, though... Now I have to measure out 1 Tbsp... ::sigh:: Still so worth it!

Yeah, I have to agree... NOT meant to be eaten! But kind of like the Japanese eating live octopus as a show of what, "manliness" or machismo, I guess consuming fermented shark fin kind of earns you a degree of respect - and especially as a foreigner who is completely disgusted by the smell of the tiny little pieces from 20…

My worst "non-food" substance goes along with yours kind of... I was in the back seat of the car as a kid and my mom was going to the drive-thru liquor store. It was mid-summer in Phoenix, I was hot and cranky and about 7 years old. I begged her to get me a pop and she refused to waste money on a can of pop (cause Jim Beam…

I'm a fan of trying new things, especially abroad. I love to hear what people think is the worst tasting thing they have ever eaten! I'll go first. An Icelandic delicacy is fermented shark fin. They cut the fin off the shark and let it ferment for days. They cut it into itty bitty pieces and serve it on toothpicks. It is…

stupid double posts again! Ugh...:grumble:

Yeah, I really detest beans, too... and forget eating a chic-pea whole! However, I've tried various flavored hummus dips and all of them were really tasty and the texture did NOT make me want to gag - as it does with beans normally. Don't be afraid to try it - it's really delish!

Well, yeah, it's kind of crappy... but I found after my first 2.5 weeks I wasn't losing anything. I've been at a stand still for almost 3 weeks now. I'm happy that I haven't gained, but I was on a good roll there in the beginning. So I decided to change my weekly goal to 1 lb per week instead of 2 and it has given me more…

I am also not a Catholic... actually, I'm just an agnostic semi-pagan that still celebrates Christmas! Like the Apathetic Naturalist, I am completely tolerant and respectful of others' religious beliefs and I find them fascinating... not to mention many of the lessons taught by all religions are really lessons of humanity…

Darn double post!! :grumble:

Unfortunately, as you start eating healthier, shedding pounds and exercising more... your body becomes more efficient and needs less calories. The more physically fit you become, the harder it will become to burn your calories during exercise, too. And your metabolism will slow a little because your resting heart rate will…

I LOVE feta... but I've never had it on pizza! I have never had it cooked! Does it melt like regular cheese? Oh... sorry... I mean... Don't beat yourself up over the pizza! If you've resisted for a long time and it's something you JUST had to have, then I'm sure it will be okay. I would recommend you "plan" for it in the…

I am afraid I got a better bargain... my sweetie is Air Force and his deployment is only 120 days... Lucky for me. We are getting married in June... But he signed on for another four years and I am currently looking into the possibility of getting back in. So I'm sure there will be at least one more deployment... possibly…

Her fitness level and your fitness level are probably dramatically different. I visited her profile and saw how much weight she is trying to lose. For her, walking briskly probably does raise her heart rate. It does for me, too, because I'm not in the best physical shape. I can burn 350 calories in 35 minutes of brisk…

Woo-Hoo! You ROCK! I am SO HAPPY to hear that poor doggie got a happy ending because he found you! :flowerforyou:

I would ask you the same... what is your ratio of carbs/protein/fat and how close are you to staying within that ratio each day? And... have you recently cut back on caffeine? I know a lot of people here would say caffeine is a no-no... but I personally can't function without caffeine in the morning - I'm not a junkie by…

I agree with everything said by the previous posters! I too am a military "significant other." My fiance left on Jan 2 and we also have email contact daily. It is VERY hard being separated from the one person in the world who means everything to me.... but this is not the first time we've done it, and it won't be the last!…

We all have slightly different requirements for these nutrients. Some people need to eat more carbs, others more protein. In any case, your fat intake should be 30% or less of your total calorie intake. This is because each gram of fat is worth 9 calories, whereas each gram of protein and carbohydrate are only 4 calories…

holy cow, 43 is great! you have the heart of an athlete. :flowerforyou: Mine is in the low 70's, but only a month ago it was in the mid-high 80's. Now that I've been pretty regular with the cardio, it is starting to drop.

I would just enter the individual ingredients. You'll have to estimate how much brown rice you think was in your 11 peices, how many ounces of eel. Cucumber is hardly worth anything at all, so you can probably skip counting that... besides at most it would come to about a 1/4 cup. I have no idea what kind of calorie count…

I personally can't go to bed on an empty stomach. That's just me. I sleep better when I don't feel hungry. Plus, if I eat before bed, then I don't wake up starving, feeling like my stomach is eating itself. I don't think there's anything wrong with eating at night... if you're meeting your calorie goals and breaking up…

I weigh myself every single morning... naughty or not. I only log when there is a change to my weight, though. I'm not going to avoid the scale just because I was bad the night before!

In my house, no meal is complete without a cathair or doghair garnish!

Some have mentioned a few of my favorites already: Wicked and His Dark Materials Also: The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho The Wild Road - Gabriel King Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card Stiff: The Secret Lives of Cadavers - Mary Roach (Nonfiction) Ginny, The Dog Who Rescues Cats - Philip Gonzalez (Nonfiction) Children's Books: To…

I originally had mine at 30%, but could scarcely reach that... I think I have mine at 25% now and I still have trouble some days. Boneless skinless chicken breast and tuna are my best sources, as they are very low in fat. I LOVE peanut butter, but if I eat more than one serving per day, I'll go way over in my fats. Some…

Yeah... number 3 sounds like the best option. It's well rounded. Plenty of lean protein... but if they give you more than 1/2 cup of rice, you may want to only eat half... just my opinion. Number four sounds very interesting... but I would worry about the contents of the brown butter sauce being a huge source of saturated…

Yeah... I did that too.. but now he has the same problem as me and he's trying to retrain himself, too! LOL. He doesn't like the "spare tire" we've created together!
