I lost a kitten last April that I had rescued and nursed for 10 days. He was only 2 weeks old when he passed away in my arms. "Failure to thrive" is how the vet put it... You may think 10 days is not long enough to form a strong attachment, but I was nursing him every 3 hours and I had my whole life scheduled around the…

Unfortunately, nearly all the free sites/software is considered illegal. Cox, among other companies, now monitors for these illegal downloads and I have 2 friends who have already had their internet shut off for using software like Limewire and Morpheus. Be careful. It's not worth losing your internet!

Yeah, mine too... But now I measure portions and look at calories. Also, sometimes it helps to wait 20 minutes before getting up for seconds. Maybe your switch still works, but is delayed? Sometimes waiting works for me.

Are you saying the serving size is four rings? Or that the recipe makes four servings? Sounds really delicious!

It looks like you have a little support group going on here! Use us for comfort instead of food! I also have experience with separation. In 2006/07 I was gone for 8 months on a deployment while my fiance was home taking care of my cats! Now, he is on a deployment and I am home with the pets! He will not be back until May.…

This is true, it does take a very long time for women to build muscle. However... If you just started weight training, your muscles get temporarily bulky from added fluid retention. Working out requires more blood flow to your muscles and it can take a couple of weeks for your body to readjust to the regular activity. Two…

LOL! I checked yours out right after I posted and yeah, pretty much the same! :flowerforyou:

can I add one? http://www.geodistance.com This link will tell you how far you have walked/jogged/cycled when you create a route. I have found it enormously useful, as I have set a goal to walk 350 miles by the time my fiance comes home! It's very simple to use!

If you're staying within your calories and you feel good, you probably don't need to worry too much. Remember, there is sugar in every fruit, most vegetables and also milk, cheese and yogurt. Natural sugars shouldn't be a concern. But if you're finding you eat a lot of processed sugars, then you maybe need to cut back on…

Cut the stem off the bottom so it's flat and it can stand up on it's own. Then, put it in a pot and fill with water until it starts to float a little. Boil it for about 30-35 mins, or until the bottom leaves come off without having to pull on them. You may need to add water during the boiling process, and you can cover the…

I LOVE this post! Thanks for the great information!:flowerforyou:

Aw, we all have our sick days. It's great that you stuck to your calories even while you were sick! You should be proud of yourself for that! And now you have had a nice rest period for your body... so I think this week you will do great! Just get back in the game with a smile on your face! :flowerforyou:

I'm a day late, as usual! I dropped one pound this week, so I have 8 lbs left to lose by V-Day...

OMG, yes "Fast Food Nation" is a real eye-opener! If you've never read any books about food, this is one you should start with. It will definitely help change your opinion of comfort foods.

My all time favorite vegetable is the ARTICHOKE! I also really love butternut squash and tomato & cucumber salad w/fresh basil and olive oil.

Is it possible that there is something bigger than food that is missing from your life, and food is the only thing you feel can fill the void? I'm so sorry you're feeling so down about this. Reading your post, though, made me think of myself when I was in a deep depression and food was the only (short-term) comfort I could…

Stash Licorice Tea!!! I LOVE it because it requires NO sweeteners and it's kind of spicy and refreshing! I used to order loose leaf teas online from Teavana.com. They are exceptional, but alas I cannot afford that luxury lately. I have one tin of loose leaf tea that is French, I believe the brand is Hediard, and it is…

I made your smoothie for lunch today! LOVED it, but I did tweak it a little.... I have a lot of plain yogurt I need to eat up, so I used 1 cup yogurt and 1/2 cup water in place of the milk. Then, I added 1 tbsp of Dove Dark Chocolate Ice cream topping to satisfy my chocolate craving. It brought up the cals to about 576,…

I used Hydroxycut twice on deployments in the past... and yes it does work... BUT you can't take those pills forever. They are supposed to only be used for 8-12 weeks and if you continue using them past that point, you can do a lot of damage to your heart and really screw up your metabolism. Also, the weight is easy to put…

Fat doesn't turn into muscle - they are entirely different things in your bod, so that is impossible. And you will not get bulky just by eating more than the minimum recommended protein. You may get bulky if you are doing a lot of strength training, particularly if you work to the point of failure on a regular basis, AND…

only industrial sized tubs of peanut butter marked "not for further distribution" used by installations serving food (like prisons and the military...) and products made with peanut butter or peanut paste from Peanut Corporation of America are tainted. It was Peanut Corp's products that had salmonella. Peanut butter bought…

Oh, I have this adorable bright pink teddy that I bought at Victoria's Secret a few years ago... and then I couldn't fit in it when I thought the right moment came to wear it.... so it's sitting in a box in my closet. I want to be able to put on that pink teddy for my man when he gets home in May, and not have to hold my…

The 1380 is already a significant caloric deficit. So if you burned 560, only 800 calories would be available to nourish your body - definitely NOT enough for healthy, normal body function. You need to eat your exercise calories in order to maintain a MINIMUM caloric need for your body, or you will become lethargic, cranky…

Your muscles fill with fluid while you work out and the effect can last from 30 mins to a few hours. Like another poster said, take your measurements when you first wake up in the am.
-
yeah, i can hold an extra 5 lbs sometimes! I wouldn't log your weight until after it's over, because you may have lost and just can't tell right now.

I agree that starting in the morning is best! All it takes is 10-15 mins per day at first to get used to the routine... then you will start craving the activity and you'll find that you give yourself a little more time as you get better at it. In fifteen minutes, you could do a mini-circuit in your own living room. Put on…

Now that you have bumped up your time on the elliptical, what about setting a speed goal for the elliptical, like so many RPM, or a distance goal for your set amount of time? Or, how about starting some intervals on the elliptical? Intervals are very good for burning fat and calories!

OMG, that cat is ADORABLE!!!!
