  • Personally, I would do it. You don't have to have the perfect balance of macronutrients every single day, as long as you're making healthy choices and getting proper nutrition. I let mine slide around a bit, as long as I'm still in my calories. Nut, seeds and raisins are good for you. That's just my opinion.
  • I agree with this on the HRM issue. If it has a chest strap and you programmed it with your height/weight/age/gender then use it instead of some "generalized" calculations based on all different people/body types. I found a lot of my exercise activities burned between 100-300 cals MORE per hour as stated on my HRM compared…
  • I LOVE my F11. It's orange - my favorite color! Oh, to answer your questions.... 1. You do have to get the sensors wet, but it only requires a little smudge with wet hands and sweat from my workout keeps it wet. Once the sensors are wet, it picks up my heart rate within 10 seconds... 2. Mine has never cut out during a…
  • mmm... glad you tried it... now I'm gonna give it a go! What kind of instant breakfast did you use? I have the carnation instant breakfast with fiber - chocolate flavor. Anything that tastes good with coffee is worth a try for me!! :flowerforyou: Love me some coffee...
  • Unfortunately, you can't build muscle without adequate fuel... so basically, your body is holding tight to the extra fat because you're not eating enough... and underneath that if you are not getting enough calories, your body will begin to cannibalize your muscles in order to get the energy it needs. You might not feel…
  • If you're off by just a little all the time, probably no big deal. If you find you're always low on fats, that could slow down your progress a bit... you need to consume fat in order to lose fat. (I know that sounds crazy, but if you don't "give" your body more fat, it just holds on to what's already there) In the grand…
  • Yeah, I retain water like mad after a workout... I hate it... but it always goes away, so I just accept it as part of the game. I also sometimes feel bigger right before the scale drops. Tuesday night I ate at KFC (I know, really bad, but I'd been craving it for 4 whole days and couldn't let it go) I felt like a fat pig…
  • I wouldn't know for sure, but I bet I had some really high and some really low days... There have been days on here where I eat so much more that I might have before... but then, I'm also eating out a lot less. That article about 700 calories and not losing weight... kinda sounded like me sometimes. I was a "starve and…
  • Wow... Um... really? He wants you to just lift weights for 6 months? That seems completely ridiculous to me... cardio is how you lose body fat. Tons and tons of cardio. Not only that, it will improve your heart health. Why would he tell you to wait 6 months before experiencing those benefits? I totally agree with keiko on…
  • The BEST and most ACCURATE way to know that is with a heart rate monitor.
  • Well, I've mixed chocolate Swiss Miss and coffee with excellent results... If the instant breakfast is chocolate flavored, I bet it would be yummy! You should try it and let us know the results... cause it's not a bad idea!
  • I find it funny that you'll ask a bunch of strangers if they think the nutritionist was wrong. Didn't the nutritionist get specialized training in nutrition? I don't mean to sound harsh... but who are we to tell you what's right for your body? Your nutritionist probably knows better than most of us do.
  • I definitely prefer the taste of pork bacon... the fattier, the yummier! Everything about turkey bacon turns me off... the texture is nothing like the real thing, it's way too salty, it doesn't smell the same... it doesn't have the clear rubbery ripples of fat along the edge. I just can't eat it. I only eat bacon once in a…

  • She probably burns more calories at rest than someone her size and weight who is far less active. You don't stop burning calories after your workout. Plus, the BMR calculator is an "estimate" based on averages. One person's resting metabolic rate may be considerably higher than another who "looks" the same.... As I dropped…
  • Um... yeah... a little exaggerated in my opinion. I agree with one person who mentioned that some individuals may be sensitive to MSG. And for those individuals, they should stay away from it... just like those of us who are lactose intolerant or who have food allergies... Asian countries have used MSG in their diets for…
  • I think you mean 40/30/30 as your equation equals 110... Everyone has a different balance. Mine is 50/25/25. I can't do low carb... I like my whole grains!
  • I'm a little shorter, at 5'4"... but I started at 165, size 11/12 (That was early January) Now I'm 146 and fitting into some of my 10's Hoping to get into some 8's when I'm all done!
  • The human body isn't a calculator, operating on precise mathematical formulas... Going over or under by a hundred calories isn't going to matter when all is said and done. If it did matter, then I'd be losing so much slower than I have been... What matters is that you're reasonably close and that you stick to your…
  • LOL! Yeah, I think I'd describe myself somewhere along those lines! ROCK ON! AWESOME JOB and an inspiration!
  • If my boobs get any smaller, they'll be sticking out of my back! :noway: ::sigh:: Why is it always this way? And because I allowed myself to gain the weight... they're not just small, but saggy too!
  • I had to take a couple days off after my first session and i can only do it about every other day so far... it works my calves too hard with all the jumping and I'm prone to Charlie Horses (which would force me to take more time off than just sore muscles) But I still want to participate, as I'm seeing great results so far!
  • so in ten days, i'd have a thousand paper cuts? I would think the long term ramifications would probably be just as harmful as gaining half a pound per day... unfortunately, i'd opt for the poundage... paper cuts can take days to heal and with all those open wounds, just imagine how many infections you might suffer! Might…
  • I walk dogs for a living... (well part of it) When I finally got my HRM I tracked what I was actually burning on those walks and it turned out to be twice as much as MFP estimated... go figure. They don't feel intense, either. I've been so happy since I got my HRM!
  • I am really starting to appreciate this phrase lately! I've come so far... even though I've been craving a giant lump of fatty extra crispy fried chicken for THREE DAYS... I keep telling myself this exact phrase and I make a better choice.
  • It happens... don't beat yourself up over it. Chug some extra water and make sure you get back on track tomorrow! :flowerforyou:
  • Yes, the HRM is more accurate. It tracks your heart rate, and thus your calorie burn. It adjusts everything based on how intensely or leisurely your actual workout is. MFP is just a rough guess. Also, when you first got it, did you program it with your gender, height, weight and age? This is more accurate than a machine…
  • I think your trainer may be spot on... For many active women, 1200 is simply too low. You have only a small amount of weight to lose... I had to up my cals to 1400 to get through a plateau... sometimes I eat a little more... I have lost almost 20 lbs since the first week of January. Try it out for two weeks.
  • I don't necessarily agree with this... mathematically that makes sense, but there is a certain minimum level you need to maintain in order to give your body the proper nutrition... otherwise you'll start to eat your own muscle and hoard your fat because your body feels too deprived. It is undesirable to sacrifice muscle in…
  • Try adding just 100 calories more to each meal. That's as simple as adding a bit of peanut butter, or a slice of cheese, or a chunk of avacado, or a couple extra ounces of meat, etc. Nibble on an ounce of nuts between meals or drink a glass of milk with a meal... Choosing calorie dense foods will make it easier to squeeze…
  • You're a male with only 32 lbs left to lose... I would try eating your exercise calories. Maybe give it two weeks and see if it helps. I personally eat all of mine. The closer you get to your goal, the slower going and harder it gets to drop the last pounds... Often people mistakenly try to cut more calories out as they…
