I count all carbs. The thing with net carbs is....if it's miscalculated, it doesn't work out in your favor. I just feel 'safer' counting all carbs.

I had to 'wing it', without guidelines like this, so I set mine up as follows: Calories: 900 Carbs: 35% (puts it at 79g) Protein: 40% (puts it at 90g) Fat: 25% (puts it at 25g) It's really frustrating to me how you can't set the actual GRAM target for your macros - only the percentage. So this was as close as I could get…

I'm not using a coach, but then, I'm very much a do-it-yourselfer, LOL! However, if you're the type who thrives on personalized support, and if that helps keep you accountable (it doesn't, for me), then I'd say it's probably a great idea.

"Time" you eat doesn't really matter - *except* - the whole point in spacing your meals out evenly is so that your blood sugar/insulin response stays relatively even, which should alleviate most of your hunger. If you're eating one of your meals at 2am, then you're setting yourself up for longer gaps between meals, which…

My favorite LS video is her older 3-mile-with-weights one. No weird 'resistance band' nonsense that you have to wrap around yourself while working out - just simple hand weights that anyone has or can get - and if you don't, you can start without them, or use soup cans or whatever. I'm not even particularly overweight or…

Dang, girl - you SHRANK! Fabulous work. :-)

That's an amazing story - so inspirational! Way to go!

I agree - it probably is the soy. Your gastrointestinal flora probably got temporarily altered by the bug, and now it's not as easily able to handle the soy. (These things can change over time - there's a particular soy food that I've eaten all my life - and although it never used to give me trouble that I noticed, in the…

Prune juice. I would never take a chemical laxative unless I'd tried the prune juice first to no effect.....but I've never had prune juice have no effect, LOL! One cup, and 'stay near a bathroom'. Two cups just because it's tasty, and it's 'hope you didn't have plans for the weekend', ha ha!

I agree. You have clearly done a lot of hard work, and it shows! Go you! But, as a complete stranger to you - there is definitely further you could go. Now, whether that means "losing more weight", or "gaining more muscle/losing more inches" - that's up to you. Your actual weight may or may not hit 135 (bone density and…

As far as I understand it, under 100 should maintain ketosis, 80-85 is optimal. But I say that with the caveat that I would imagine that everyone's body is a bit different, so one person might stay in ketosis just fine at 100 carbs, and another person might need to stay under 85 or 90. But I'm no scientist, just surmising.

Hm...I'm looking at your carbs, and I'm almost thinking that they're a smidge TOO low? I stick to the plan, and my carbs usually fall in the 80-85 range.....I think I'd have a difficult time regularly hitting only 70, and still get in all 5 of the MF meals, and the proper amounts of veggies for the L&G. (I most usually…

I've had that trouble somewhat - it hasn't particularly 'bothered' me, or my family members, but there are days where I feel like I'm entirely made of air, LOL. I wonder if it isn't related partially to the sugar alcohols in the bars (or so I've been told). I do often eat one or sometimes more of those a day, but I haven't…

What are your calorie totals, and other macros?

It really is! I'm a sugar-addict too. At the movies yesterday, I popped in the first piece of gum I've had in a long while, so I wouldn't inadvertently dip into my daughter's gummi bears....and it was SO sweet. Almost overwhelming.

Yay! That's fabulous! I must say, I have been surprised by how much more energetic I am, and on so few calories - that's the most surprising part. I've only lost about 10 pounds so far, but I don't think it's that.....I'm only back to my 'normal', usual, pre-holiday-poundage weight, and I don't remember having this much…

Hm, no...no discernible change for me. I wouldn't think that soy should do that either....only because I've eaten soy in quantity for much of my life, and I've never had it have any kind of effect like that. Are you using a different kind of BC than before (or is this your first time ever on it? Can't tell from your post).…

Have you looked at the cost for shipping, though? It seems like they add another $7 + to the cost, just to ship it to you. With that factored in, I thought that ordering directly from Medifast (especially with getting free shipping for being on their Advantage plan) was actually better. I must be missing something.

There is actually a thread on how to post pics right here in this forum - it's the second post on the page, a 'sticky' post, entitled "Need help with posting pictures?" I have never used it or tried to post a pic, but I would imagine that would give you the assistance you are looking for. Edited - here is the link:…

Ketoacidosis is a risk. Ketosis is not. They are different. Two to three days is what it takes for me.

Well, I had my first 'off-plan' day...not 100% sure how it actually went, but it feels like it might have been okay. My friend came, and our families all went out to lunch at a local buffet restaurant. It's a small family-owned place with really good, home-cooked type stuff, but often prepared quite simply. (I'd actually…

I am usually a once-a-week weigher when I'm trying to lose weight. It's kind of been like a 'reward' and an incentive to stay on whatever plan I've had. However, with this....there's no guessing. There's no 'gee, I wonder if that extra slice of pizza showed up on the scale this week'. And so, since I know that I am losing,…

I'm finding that going low-carb has an interesting way of killing the sugar cravings. It goes from being agony (withdrawal) to cut the sugar, to really - no big deal at all. It was a surprise to me, but a fantastic side-effect.

Artemis, I think I would have done exactly the same. A family funeral is not the time to be persnickety about your dietary choices, for sure. Hey, just staying OP for your five MF meals is a *great* thing, in my opinion. And you're exactly right. Everything is a choice, and certain choices come with consequences - and if…

If you aren't averse to a little less-than-truthfulness, you could take a small amount of whatever they're serving that seems like it may fit into your L&G, and then if they try to push more onto you, you could either say that you snacked too much before you came, and now you're positively stuffed, or you could say that…

I actually love the oatmeal - I find it's one of the meals that keeps me the fullest, and since I like my oatmeal on the lumpy/gluey side anyway, it's just right. :-) The first few days aren't really that bad, if you drink all your water, plan a precise spacing of your meals, and just keep busy. Measure your L&G like a…

Excellent! Your hard work is paying off. :-)

Gaby, I have about the same amount to lose, and in 3 weeks have lost not quite that much. I'm kind of expecting to stall out this week as well, same reason. So it's probably good I haven't added exercise yet - if I stall, I'd probably be blaming the wrong thing. I kind of just want to get a good feel for how I'm actually…

Yay, more newbies! I must be one of the lucky ones - the first few days weren't bad for me at all, and whatever headache I might have had was more likely due to my needing a chiropractic adjustment! I've done intermittent fasting previous to this, though, so I've had practice at just ignoring 'hunger' pangs. (Actually,…
