I am 28, and I love board games. My favorite game is Agricola, but Empire Builder is a close second. The games I am most likely to win are 7 Wonders, Masons, Innovation, and To Court the King. Someday, I will win Ticket to Ride. My husband and I have a pretty good collection. I was introduced to board gaming by LARPing…

Discovered yet another food I am not supposed to have today: parsley. Discovered this over a side of delicious tabouli (which is sometimes made with cilantro, so my tabouli could have been totally fine... but I haven't even checked, but in all likelihood cilantro is also bad for pregnancy). I'm starting to think it might…

So before I was pregnant, I took Prilosec daily for severe heartburn issues. My gyn said that it was fine to keep taking it. My gp (who I went to see for my cold last week) re-emphasized that I should stop taking it. I've decided to err on the side of caution and not take it. Most days Tums are just fine... I don't know,…

Fitocracy was referenced on xkcd. Also, http://youtu.be/CKNqc3a9Xqs this makes me smile every time.

Lilly from How I Met Your Mother... mostly because my husband and I are like Lilly and Marshall... I hope that I'm not the Marshall.

Leaving a comment b/c I am interested in this answer too. I am usually starving as soon as I cool off after a workout. I have always heard that your metabolism spikes after a workout so you use the calories more efficiently. I wonder if it is true.

High school... Chemistry class :)

I get that feeling constantly. Good luck at your appointment!

I go to a board game convention every year. My favorite game is Agricola. I used to LARP. I love HP, Tolkein, Neil Gaiman, and Dresden Files. My favorite band is They Might Be Giants. I'm totes a nerd. Add me if you like :)

Also, my second(?) blog entry was 4 trainer sessions that were tailored for me if you want to check them out. They have strength and cardio elements. I'm not a trainer, but my trainer gave me the list and permission to share.

The key for effective cardio imho is to find something active you like doing and do as much of it as you can. I'm a big fan of zumba because it is pretty fun. I've had friends get great results with p90x, but I don't think it looks like much fun.

Not to argue with a doctor, but I swear sweet oil works. I've only used it once, but it totally worked. You say it is counter-productive? Are we talking about congestion or water in the ear? I was told to take decongestants for ear congestion, which also worked.. albeit slowly over a couple of days.

Can't Keep Johnny Down, by They Might Be Giants. It's sort of my theme song right now. They had a music video contest for fans to choose the video for it. If you youtube it, you might get a lot of hits. This one is my favorite (though it was not the winner): http://youtu.be/B9OyjnlIQEs

If you really focused on trying to make the protein goal, your calorie goal would probably work itself out. Most high-protein foods (milk, cheese, nuts, meat, eggs) are also high in calories. There are also plenty of nutrient rich foods that give you calories. Many fruits, for example, are loaded with them. I bought some…

I can make myself stop hiccuping without water or any other remedy. I just decide to stop.

Without preservatives? Is that a special kind or something?

I feel like the fear of childhood immunizations is totally irrational. Even if there is a one in a million chance that there will be a side effect or a complication from the immunizations, the chance that an un-vaccinated child could contract a serious illness and suffer complications from that is much greater. That said,…

So I checked out a ton of books from the library. One said "Salicylic acid is a no-no." Turns out that I cannot use my face wash, my make-up or my acne spot treatment. I freaked out a little because none of these products said not to use during pregnancy. I had checked. I also used them all daily. My doc said it's fine but…

Wow... I have be pregnant for like 5 minutes and have received tons of conflicting information about what is best. In no way has there ever been an "only" choice about anything. That said, I do not smoke. I think smoking is really terrible. I know from seeing friends try to quit that quitting is super hard. Good for you…

I only have them when the workout I did could make me sore. It helps rebuild muscles so you are not as achy and stiff the next day. Within 30 minutes of the workout will give you the most relief. I don't drink them otherwise b/c I do not like them. The only one I found that I can stomach is EAS low carb french vanilla.

@Babeed: I plan to steal shirts from larger family members, but I am not quite there yet. :) I think I'm starting to experience the nausea. I do have a cold, so it is hard to tell if the mild nausea is the cold or the pregnancy... or just nerves. I'm still a little freaked out every once in a while. I think I'm also…

This is probably a dumb question, but I have a rule about bugging my gyn's nurse more than once a day and I do not get to have an appointment for another month. I read on some pregnancy website that herbal tea is bad?! I hope they just mean like herbal supplements... chamomile? red raspberry leaf? peppermint? Are those ok?…

Awesome pic, MrsJax!

I had a trainer that used some of its exercises. YOU WILL FEEL THEM! My glutes were screaming at me for about a day the first time we did them. As far as results, it's hard to say. I didn't do them for very long and they were just part of some circuit training I was doing.

It might be the food you are getting the fiber from. Raw carrots (which I love) do the same for me if I eat too many (gas and heartburn). I recently discovered Welch's grape juice enriched with fiber. So far so good with it, but I do not drink more than 2 cups a day b/c of the sugar and calories.

Have you tried or do you have access to almond milk? It comes in chocolate and vanilla. I love it in coffee. :)

So glad I saw this thread! Thank you for posting this info! I just took a home test today, but have only been at MFP for about a month. I was told I had PCOS by a doctor who barely looked at me (I think he was a drug pusher). I ignored him thinking "I'll lose at least 40 lbs and then I'll probably get pregnant. If not,…

$42/mo is not that bad. My local Y is $70 and the gym I really want to join is $70... way out of my price range. My old gym was $40/mo. There was no pool or sauna, and it was worth every penny. Then again, I went almost every day. Does the cheaper gym offer a trial or tour? Go check it out. Maybe it's not shoddy quality.…

I'm relatively new too. Add me if you want :)
