bruises will happen. i usually hold the bar in my fingers and elbows straight out. this grip is actually harder for most b/c of inflexible wrists/arms. as the weight of the bar goes up, i'm finding more random bruises here and there. i just take them as battle wounds and hope they're not too noticeable. sorry...this wasn't…

at 5'3" and 165lbs, i ran a 14 min mile. a year later, at 150lbs, i ran 12-13 min mile. now, at 140lbs and WAY stronger due to lifting heavy stuff, i think i'm down to around 10:30-11min mile. i don't think i'll ever be a fast runner. i'm not a good runner, in general. as soon as i start running, my feet/knees/hips start…

Wow! Only a 3-4lb gain during 14 weeks is amazing on reset. Good for you!!! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CUT!!!! :)

damn girl! GREAT results!!

agreed. squats, overhead press, bench press, deadlifts and power cleans. 5x5. this is what i do when i can only lift once a week. most the time i get in twice and i split it up, starting strength style. (youtube mark rippetoe and you'll find GREAT instructional videos on these exercises.)

5'3", ~140lbs cal intake = 1850 weekly avg (between 1570-2100/day depending on exercise and what my body is telling me.) success? in the making. i like the slow and steady approach.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I struggled so much in the beginning and thought I was the 'exception' that didn't fit the EM2WL mold. It turns out that I just needed to be patient. I started this journey in May and only in August did my body finally adjust. Now I'm steadily losing and staying nice and full in…

true story

LOVEEEE this. when i first started EM2WL, i went into hyper-obsessive-anal-retentive mode. i was driving myself crazy with numbers and obsess over every single meal; seriously, all i thought about was food. i think mentally i was worse at the start of EM2WL than i was eating less. i knew what i could eat (very little) and…

awesome!!!!

this article changed everything for me. staci is my hero. eat more and lift heavy things. you'll be happier.
-
thanks for sharing your story. don't you just love the FREEDOM that comes with EM2WL? being able to go out to eat w/ friends or go to a family gathering and not having to break out into a cold sweat worrying about what you're gonna eat...!! life is grand!!

i'm at a point where the fluctuations on the scale no longer bother me so i weigh daily. i log my weight every morning (gain or loss) on http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/online/hdo.html to note trends in my weight. as long as the overall picture is moving down, that's all that matters to me.

What she said. I do boot camp 2-3x week, lift 2-3x week and do zumba 2x week. I'd also add that I started with boot camp and after a few months I added the heavy lifting. Taking on too much too soon can be a bit much for the body so take it slow. Again, listen to your body. I was doing boot camp only 2-3x a week with zumba…

my husband and i have been married for a little over a year. he proposed on Christmas eve 2010, one week shy of our 4 year anniversary. he knew what i wanted b/c we had talked about rings a number of times through the years. he did an awesome job surprising me w/ the proposal and getting me exactly what i wanted. love that…

You look awesome!!! Congratulations!!! You should be super proud!!!

ugh. i hear you completely. i was where you were in july. i gained 6lbs during my reset (TDEE = 2150) and when i started my cut (TDEE-15% = 1800-1900) i gained another pound. wtf?! i was so upset but i kept at it. a few more weeks went by and the weight wasn't moving...at my cut! i was it possible that i was eating at a…
-
sounds perfect. btw...i'm doing the same thing...except i'm eating at 1650 which is normal daily activity TDEE-15% for me + exercise cals. slow and steady wins the race! good luck!
