I wasn't aware I needed APA citations. According to the Mayo Clinic (your resource), the average female needs approx. 72oz in beverages a day to stay hydrated. Well, if you use the 'half your body weight' calculation, that would make that women weigh 144lbs. Pretty average wouldn't you say? They did not specify differences…

I did a medically-supervised weight loss program through a specialist a few years ago (didn't stick with it - unrealistic and too expensive) and the lowest they would let us go was 1200. They really hammered this into us that going lower would NOT help us in the long run. See if he'll refer you to a dietician if you want…

I whole-heartedly agree! I feel a little bad that the girl I work with has to hear about different things I'm learning or trying. But, if I step back and think about it, this is so much better than realizing it's 2:30pm and I haven't eaten lunch yet - which usually turns into a fast food run full of saturated fat or…

Most of the resources I've come across recommend drinking half your body weight (lbs) in water (oz). I just ordered a Timex TG5G941 from Newegg for $35. I didn't want to spend a ton, but it got pretty good reviews for the price. I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival so I can see how many calories I'm actually burning!

It wasn't the strength exercises that killed me - it was the cardio! The squats were almost easy; I could have done two sets of each. Once I got to the third set of jumping jacks though... dear lord kill me now. I eventually just did marching in place and a bunch of resting in between. Note to self - postpone eating until…

Thanks for all the encouragement! My boyfriend is supportive, but he's gone most of the week for work, and my family is on the other side of the state. It'll be nice to have similarly motivated people 'around' me :) I'm going to do measurements tonight so I can track my progress that way as well. The number on the scale…
