  • This is a hard thing overcome and it takes time. Eventually, you'll get past the number on your clothes, but most of us use that number to grade weight loss progress so of course you're still programmed to look at it. Do you have any clothes from before you started? Mine was my wedding dress. I weighed 250lbs on my wedding…
  • Would like to join also. SW 207.3lbs
  • I love this idea. Good protein and fiber. Thanks for sharing.
  • Easy Crock - Pot Pork Roast 1 pork loin (Size it based on your crock pot) 1/2 bag Fingerling potatos (use the whole bag if you're feeding a crowd) 4 tbsp Stubbs Pork Marinade (may be a south thing, if you cant find it try Allegros) 12 ozs Shiner Blonde (or any other beer you like - just keep it light) Marinade the pork…
  • I have a size 20 business suit that you could have if it will fit. (May be too big for you, as slim as you are getting.)
  • I've broken personal cardio records to: Side of Bullet - Nickleback Pogo - System of a Down For cooldown I like: Happy - E. Nicole (Houston band but you should be able to find them)
  • 11/21: 215 11/28: 214.8 12/5: 210.6 12/13: 208.6 Pounds to lose: 18.6 lbs It was a rough week last week. Too many Christmas parties with yummy food! I am so glad that I still managed to drop a little weight. It motivates me to stay strong for the Christmas parties this week!
  • http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Baltimore-Eggnog-102325 This one is delicious but you have to have a crowd. Once you mix in the egg whites, you have to be ready to serve it. It is terrible for you, but the servings are small. (I couldn't find the peach brandy when I made it so I left that out.)
  • Your goals sound agressive but very doable. I have confidence that you will meet your Spring Break goal. As for the challenge of the holidays, how about we agree to keep each other honest at the party next week? ;-)
  • My list: Clothes - having to buy replacements because of fit rather than just when they wear out. Tylenol/Aspirin - this extra weight makes me clumsy. I have to take pain relievers for my knees and ankles when I trip or stumble and hurt myself. Gasoline - my weight not only impacts my fuel economy in my car but drains my…
  • I agree that logging everything you eat forever seems a little unreasonable, but a food diary has value beyond just weight loss. There will be times after we're all at our goal weight that we will want to log for a week or two at a time. For instance, my mom has high blood pressure; as a way to support her in her low…
  • My husband and I dropped the satelite, so the only time I have access to normal TV is at the gym on the elliptical. I tell myself it's a special treat. One other thing that helps is having several people that go to my gym at work and in my personal life. They notice when I haven't been in a few days.
  • 11/21: 215 11/28: 214.8 12/5: 210.6 Pounds to lose: 20.6 lbs - I love watching this number go DOWN!
  • What we may be experiencing is a combination of the weight loss and water intake. Dehydration and excess weight both make your body temperature run high. This is extremely serious in the summers in Texas, where I live. By drinking plenty of water and attaining a more healthy weight, our bodies are more able to regulate…
  • My first suggestion? stop weighing every morning. Weight loss, especially for women, is not linear. I know that you want to see results. I understand and empathize. ( I try to only weigh on Mondays, but today I "rewarded" myself with an extra weigh in. ) Remember that fat loss may be occuring even while weight loss stays…
  • I buy basa fillets at the fish market for tough days. They thaw fast and have good tecture but no real flavor to speak of. I like to take half a lime and slice it thin. Salt and pepper the fish. Cover the top with the lime. 350 degree toaster oven until done. (Been a while, I don't remember the time.) Also, Tony Chachere's…
  • Quick, easy and healthy: 1 boneless skinless chicken breast: (a family pack is $8 with 6 to a pack) 1 fresh brocolli crown ($2 last I checked) 1/2 onion ($1 for the whole thing) 3 cloves of garlic (pennies) Fresh ginger (pennies) 2 carrots (pennies) Sriracha (asian hot sauce) - don't remember the price, but a bottle lasts…
  • Just like anything else, "fast food" is about choices. My husband went and got us McD's for dinner. He got a burger, and I got a salad. It just takes information and the will to avoid the bad stuff. (The later is where I struggle...)
  • This is a great article. Thanks for sharing. It seems to me that they were careful to stick to highly measurable data points. I think the costs are actually much higher than they say. For instance, the article looks at the costs of chronic illness related to excess weight but does not take into account the increased…
  • 11/21: 215 11/28: 214.8 Pounds to lose: 24.8 lbs Only a small loss, but I was happy to have not GAINED over Thanksgiving.
  • I have been in this situation for quite some time. Give a pedometer a shot during the day. Find out how many steps you typically take at work and challenge yourself to double them. As for avoiding snacking, try sugar free gum. It seems to help me.
  • These sound wonderful. My husband is a cheesecake lover. He may not let me share the first batch!
  • Thank you for not choosing a food challenge over Thanksgiving. I am getting a late start on this one since I just joined the group, but I am excited to see how close I get!
  • NAME: Sharon Current Weight: 215 Weight to be no longer obese: 190 Deadline date: March 26, 2012 (My 7th Wedding Anniversary) Reason you want to be no longer obese: At 30 years old, I am now at the age that both my parents began exhibiting the health problems that go with obesity: high blood pressure and pre-diabetes…
  • True hunger is our body's way of letting us know it needs fuel. In this case, something high in fiber (almonds, carrot sticks, or whole fruit) may help. If, however, the problem is an office full of coworkers that love to bake (like mine) sugar free gum can block the smell of tempting treats which is where my cravings tend…
