  • I know people are going to ask right away--we need more details, height, how much to lose, how many calories are you eating, do you eat back your exercise, are you following ISOARM, etc etc. If you make your diary public we could see what you are doing and offer more constructive advice.
  • A dietitian tol dme exactly this! your snack should mix a carb and a protein. the carb fills you up right away and you are hungry again quickly, and the protein takes longer for your body to digest and make you feel full. When you eat them together it makes the fullness last because after you come down off of the carbs,…
  • I never fought ED but my family did in my sister, and because of her I am doing this the right way--the least impact on myself AND her. I am eating the maintenance calories of my goal weight, right smack in the middle of a healthy range. This means I eat 1500/day +exercise calories (though Ive been a bit of a slacker and…
  • If you are looking for flavor and moist-itude, go for potato bread, 90 cals a slice :) its probably not the healthiest for you but it was less calories than the honey wheat i was buying and cheaper than the super-di-duper lots of grain bread.
  • mine was getting on the scale after the holidays and getting the biggest number ive ever gotten--180. I've lost 15 lbs so far and going steady! but my pants were getting tighter and it was not pleasant. i dont tend to lose in the boobs so im still going to have to frequent LB for that--but even that gets difficult because…
  • I live in PA, and until the big storm my grandpa lived in Jersey! but i know all about using your friends as hotels--im going to los angeles next week to do just this! my dads family is from the UK, which really is much the same--you can get almost anywhere in the country in a day just driving :) Germany is on my list of…
  • YES to everyone that said add more proteins!! A coworker of mine is a dietitian and she explained it to me by drawing a picture. When you eat a carb, your energy and fullness spike high quickly and then crash. When you eat a protein, they go up slowly and gradually. When you eat the two of them together, you get the spike…
  • Thats crazy! my stepmoms family is from there and when she married my dad we all went over and they got married in Ebeltoft. that was 13 years ago...haha. But i enjoyed it when I was there and i try to keep in touch with some of the cousins and stuff that are over there. Where have you been living that you have been away…
  • yeah thats probably true. but not all the accoutrements of a smorgasbord, which we do on all the holidays, the remoulade, the goose at christmas, marzipan...and i can tell you that polser in Denmark are NOT the same as hot dogs in the US :) Plus im not sure if its a Scandinavian thing or a grandmother thing, but my mormor…
  • he sounds like hes really bad at expressing what he wants from you. This is my interpretation: I think he doesnt want you to lose weight by massively cutting calories or dieting, but by eating healthily and exercising. He says to eat whatever you want because he wants you to eat what you would normally eat or enjoy--but in…
  • you came to the right place! i have some Danes in my family and speaking from experience I know how difficult it can sometimes be to turn down some of those delicious Danish delicacies :)
  • I am not but my sister is currently in recovery. For her, the hardest part is learning to adapt when something happens to interrupt her routine--a slow waitress that causes us to be late getting home, a road trip and being unable to cook, etc. She finally just got to the point where her bloodwork is normal and her body is…
  • If i want OJ i just juice a couple oranges...just because there is no added sugar and no preservatives.
  • feeel free to add me! I like to think i'm pretty reasonable. i eat what i want, just portion control and i dont have a difficult time most days staying within calorie.
  • OP yes, eating 1200 with no exercise = eating 1400 and burning 200, in the eyes of MFP. The idea is to maintain a deficit. I am going to summarize what people are going to respond: 1: Search the forums for Roadmap by Helloitsdan and calculate your BMR and TDEE-20%. You should always eat >BMR and <TDEE to lose weight. 2: If…
  • the general rule is that its unhealthy to eat less than your BMR. So even if you are uncomfortable with the 1500 goal, try to get at least 1400. If you are anything like me you will find that you will have more energy and feel more full, especially if you fill that 1400 with smart choices.
  • bumping this to plan my st pattys weekend meals!
  • Tuna is great for stuff like this. I make mini tuna noodle casseroles by getting single serve mac and cheese, like easy mac, and mixing in a can of tuna!
  • send me a request, everyone! love new friends :)
  • me me meeeeee!!! PS--anyone in the greater Philadelphia region should check out the newest radio contest on WMMR.....Phillys HOttest nerdy girl, deadline for entries 3/15...just saying.
  • The recommended calories they give you IS at a deficit of your calories burned just by existing day-to-day. If you burn 500 calories doing something really intense and your goal is 1200 (the lowest MFP will go), you only put 700 calories in your body that day, the same as eating only 700 calories on a day you dont…
  • anyone can add me! i love the little rush you get when you get a 'wtg' on a status where you lose weight or eat under cal :)
  • you can add me too!
  • Yes, its net calories. I eat back exercise and stuff. I got like 1500 and I aim to eat 1400-1500 a day. sometimes im low, sometimes im a little high, but im losing around a lb a week. My goal weight is 140.
  • This is whats worked for me--I got this formula from a dietitian. Take your goal weight in lbs and convert to kg by dividing by 2.2. Take that number and multiply by anything between 25-30. This gives you a range for the maintenance calories for your goal weight. I am eating for the body I want, not the body I have. I'm…
