I'm also 53 and it can be a slooooowwww journey. It is however doable. Without seeing your diary I will refrain from commenting. I personally cannot drink alcohol or eat ice cream (with any regularity) and lose consistently. Everyone is DIFFERENT. If you are tracking your food and logging everything, maybe try keeping the…

Well you have come to the right place! I'm also 5'6" and I started In June at around 172 and have just reached the 138 mark. Lots of great ideas, recipes and great motivating stories. I LOVE the ability to track my food on my iPhone. Tracking is ESSENTIAL to my success. You are very smart to have maintained your loss and…

nice job!

I'm 5'6" and I'm currently hovering around the 141 -145 mark. 150 is a great place to be, and I don't want to go over that number. 150 was my Weight Watcher's goal weight, as my theory was why pay to lose anymore, and it gave me a nice cushion for maintenance. Not sure how old you are, I'm 53 and it becomes so much harder…

Walking is the perfect exercise for weight loss and over all health. The fact that you love it, get your kids and dogs our for fresh air as well is even better! I maintained a 30 lb. weight loss for 15 years just by walking. WALK ON!

Congratulations!!! You look AMAZING!

Most people are so worried about how they look working out they don't have anytime to worry about others. Sweetie if I were you I'd just do it! Seriously life is too short to worry about what other people think about anything! JUST DO IT!

Totally AWESOME story! You are living proof, that if it's IMPORTANT to you, you find a WAY, if it's not you find an EXCUSE! Simply amazing job, wishing you all the BEST!

The best thing I ever did to relieve my aching knees was lose weight. Even the first 10 lbs. seemed to make a huge difference. I also take Vitamin D. My cousin swears by that knox gelatin stuff and drinks it everyday. the more i walk the better they feel.

amazing transformation! awesome job!

If you are looking for energy as in caffeine to help you get through the day, one of my neighbors swears by the Zero Calorie Monster Drinks. Personally I cannot drink them because of a heart conditions, they are also VERY sweet :(. i gave up Diet Coke as when I started this journey I began noticing a trend between…

Ignore them. I've been on 1200 calories per day since I started here in early June. Have slowly lost 28 lbs. My cardiologist also recommended 1200 calories per day for weight loss so I wouldn't worry about starvation mode. There is a lot of good calorie dense food to be eaten everyday on 1200 calories. Doesn't leave much…

Had 4 babies 3 c-sections, I'm 53 and the body is pretty amazing in it's ability to repair itself. You need a really good core workout, you'll have decent (not perfect) abs before you know it. Cross fit training is really really good for the abs. Hang in there!

Since your food journal isn't viewable, it's hard to comment. Water would not cause you to gain weight since it has no calories. I drink anywhere from 1/2 - 1 gallon of water daily and I lose consistently. So without seeing your journal, not sure what the problem might be. Good Luck!

Honestly if you want results recording is part of the process. It's a way to keep yourself honest and AWARE. Recording on here is so easy I find I have no excuse not to. Once you get a few weeks under your belt it becomes second nature. If you like keep your diary locked and no one else has to know. JUST DO IT!! You will…

I take an RX of 50,000 IU once per week. It makes a tremendous difference in my achy joints. I see a rheumatologist for a form of fibromyalgia and arthritis. It also does seem to help my energy level. I am extremely deficient and cannot seem to keep my levels up at all. However the doctor explained that it is fairly common…

SIMPLY AMAZING!!! That is dedication and hard work paying off! Thanks for the inspiration!

Awesome!!!! You look great!

I looked a just a few days of your diary. Honestly I agree some of the calorie content seems a bit low. However I personally would be hard pressed losing consistently with that many simple carbs in a day. IF your goal is to lose it and move to maintenance I would suggest ditching all the simple carbs, bread snacks etc.…

I looked at your diary and though your calories seem well within a loss range ( I don't know what that is for you personally) I would suggest to jump start that you replace the cookies and any other simple carb type foods with maybe some raw veggies or another apple. The only other thing that for me I know is a problem is…

Thanks for sharing our story! You look great. It always helps to know what is possible if we just do things to take care of ourselves. Wishing you continued success.

I'd say to jump start a weight loss for someone who doesn't mind being very disciplined short term. I've seen trainers recommend these type "jump starts" before for a 2 week period of time. There's nothing that is going to hurt you although can't imagine doing it for more that two weeks to get motivated. I eat avacado's…

Maintenance is MUCH harder than weight loss for me. The one tip I have is continue to log and continue to stay involved in some way with a weight loss site. Going it alone is a recipe for disaster and being right back here in short order re-losing the same weight and possibly a few pounds more. Been there done that. I…

OMG 53 and I could have lived the rest of my days without ever knowing what those two terms referred to. HYSTERICAL conversation. I don't know what the answer is but I do know good genetics play a huge role in how well your skin snaps back after major weight loss. After c-sections there are just some things you learn to…

Great JOB!!!! You look amazing wishing you the best!

it's really hard sometimes to stay motivated. This journey is really a very mental one. If your head doesn't buy into it, it can be really hard to follow through with the eating and exercise. It is a choice and no one can make you want this. Maybe try making small changes. Just don't give up!

Years ago I successfully BF and infant and lost 40 lbs. I would try adding 500 calories if you aren't losing drop to 300. You really probably do not want to be under 1600 calories per day. Try to make sure your calories come from lean protein, fruits, veggies, nuts etc. I didn't worry about the dairy very much I'm lactose…

Great Job!!!! Very inspirational keep up the hard work!
