I feel this way. I don't have thyroid issues, but I have to be pretty strict with my eating and workouts or I won't lose. And it took a whole year and 40+ pounds for people to notice that I'd lost weight.

I have a shake for breakfast around 9am and a small lunch at 11:30am, so I have a snack around 2:30 which is around 115 calories -- a medium carrot, a celery stalk and 1/3 cup of 2% cottage cheese with a few chopped strawberries and 1/3 cup chopped pineapple -- that keeps me satisfied until dinner at 5:30pm.
