Thank you that helped a lot. I did miss that warning the first time. I guess I was more focused on the numbers than the details. I recalculated with both 245 lbs and as my current weight as goal weight to get the numbers. Now I will work on eating the calories my body needs. I was eating about 500 too few it seems.

Ok 2 questions actually...along with the question ^^^^ Am I supposed to eat my exercise calories? Or can I just do the 1980 and not eat more on days i exercise?
-
One more question....If I just allow MFP to calculate my calories for a 2 lb a week loss, it puts me at 1830 calories a day. So should I manually change that goal up to 1980?
-
Ok thank you. I will give it a try!

Ok...so if my TDEE is 2160 am I supposed to cut that number by 500 calories to lose 1 lb a week? Although that would also put me below the BMR. Or am I supposed to just eat between 1980 and 2160?

So I am a bit confused. I went to the http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/ calculator and entered in the info. Age 28 Female Your height (in inches): 66 Your CURRENT weight (in pounds): 335 Your GOAL weight (in pounds): 155 Your body fat percentage (if known): 51 This says my BMR (using the Katch-McArdle Forumla) is…

Thanks! I have looked into a few of the DVDs. I will be purchasing a couple next pay day :)

LOVE! Thanks for posting this. I agree I am morbidly obese and I don't lose much more than 2 lbs a week. I exercise, I eat right, I drink water. But I would rather it be slow, steady and sustainable than drop 10 lbs a week like the Biggest Loser people. I don't want to kill myself at a gym working out 7 hours a day and eat…
-
that is fairly common. Week one and maybe week two you generally lose quite a bit. But then you will stall when while it gets used to the new program. I have heard some dietitians recommend you not even weigh the first 4-6 weeks because it could take that long for your body to adjust and then start losing again. So don't…

I could not agree more! Its because people want a quick fix. They don't want to hear exercise/eating right. They want to be able to eat whatever they want and still lose weight. I actually ran into a lady at the store who saw me in my gym clothes. She started talking to me and I mentioned I was losing weight. She asked how…

It is correct... right. But the problem is that it is always in response to a wait gain. "help I have gained 3 lbs." response "dont worry you have just gained muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat." That is an incorrect statement. Now...if it went "help I have dropped a pant size but the scale hasn't budged" it may be…

oh yeah I get that ALL the time. Because I am very obese people (family especially) expect me to drop 10 lbs a week. Hell biggest loser contestants do it. So "only 1 lb!" or "2 lbs" something must have gone wrong. I must not be eating healthy or exercising.
-
This is why I never actually point it out to people...(other than my general post on here). But you would be surprised how many people actually do believe a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat and hold on to that for every single weight gain they see. I once spent about 20 mins trying to help a friend…
-
Oh yes I am sure this is what most of the people mean...which is why I don't go out of my way to correct this statement every single time I see it. I hope most people know what is actually meant by the statement. But there are many out there that actually believe that 1 pound of muscle actually weighs more than 1 lb of fat…

This! The people who complain that they can't lose weight no matter how hard they try while eating 2000 calorie meal. Or they ask you what you are doing and when you respond "exercising and eating right" they say oh i can't do that because of _____.
-
Haha. But didn't you know it is easy? All you have to do is go on a liquid diet, take this magic pill, only drink powder and/or water with pepper, lemon and green tea! You don't even have to exercise in fact. Oh did I mention these pills/liquid/powder drinks will cause the fat to melt right off and you will drop 40 pounds…

Can I just say AMEN!!!!!

Along the lines of "i just can't lose weight" is the "I have a ______ issue that makes it impossible for me to lose." I have bad genetics. I know it. I have thyroid issues. I have a "slower" metabolism. but does that mean its impossible to lose weight? NO. It means I work a bit harder, and I lose a bit slower. But it is…

I learned the hard way...and still learn it...if someone is not ready to change they will not change. Something literally has to "click". I have yo-yo dieted my entire life. It was always with half a heart because I knew I should. But the true desire wasn't there. It wasn't until recently that it finally clicked for me.…

Ya know part of my wonders about this. I can see how you would not want a bigger person giving advice...since clearly they need to practice what they preach. But at the same time, from personal experience as a bigger person, I am on a weight loss journey and have been for a while. I have made so many mistakes, I read…

I have noticed this coming up a lot lately. As a severely obese person myself I am guessing a lot goes to insecurity. I am more aware of my weight. If I go out with a friend and order a burger and fries, and they order a salad, I feel like I will get judged by everyone around and would rather they have a burger too.…

Yes how will you keep it off!? I mean you will have no reason to maintain your goal weight right? ya know like feeling more confident, happier, healthier...etc..

Amen! This is right up there for me too. I would say #2. I am still guilty of getting discouraged over this on occasion though. Until I drink a gallon of water and lose the water weight :)

I was hoping to see another gamer out there. My boyfriend and I met playing World of Warcraft. we had known each other a couple years online, had a LAN party in Vegas about 4 years ago March 21st and have been dating ever since. Plan on getting married once I get some debt paid off and lose this darn weight (my…
