I think you are behaving normally! I think for the most part, people are just people and have friends and don't care what race we are! Which is how it should be!!! There will always be someone who has to point something out and then make you "think" about it!

Poor public spelling ALWAYS gets to me. Yesterday, at the grocery store, on a manufactured sign was printed "Frozen deserts." After I stopped laughing, I wondered if I should mention it to anyone.

If your bike is only a 5 speed, then it must be pretty old. I would get a newer bike, you don't have to spend a lot. What speed you will use depends on if you are going uphill or downhill. Thank you all very much! It is encouraging to read all of the advice! My problem mainly, is I have never had to deal with any sort of pain, and now I'm like "What?" I am also 53, so part of it I attribute to old age. I have had 3 children, as one poster commented that may have caused issues!

I think this is funny, because I heard an expression the other day that I absolutely hate, and thought about posting on here! I hate the expression "blown away." This commercial here "My wife and I were just "blown away" by the low prices." UGH!

I think this is good advice also. My husband and I have done 2 bike tours for MS, both of which were 150 miles, done over a 2 day period. We did as the above poster, and as the event grew closer we went for longer rides, about 40 miles. We did fine, but I still had some blisters!
